These days on the internet your first post in certain communities being too "inflammatory" is grounds for a ban. I even made an account to post on KotakuinAction once, made a joke post that agreed with their stances, and the first comment was "This person has no previous posts, is this allowed?"

People will use post counts as status symbols, anything to win an internet argument.

I went there for a while, talked about old D&D crap of the kind that fascinates me as the kid whose dad wouldn't let him play D&D. Talked about my favorite system, GURPS, and spitballed some of my worldbuilding ideas and whatnot mostly to positive response. The place seemed friendly until I stumbled across a "Hi, I'm a girl and I'm new! Teehee!" thread.

After a few pages of everyone licking her taint over being a girl interested in and new to the tabletop RPG hobby, someone brought up molestation or something and said what amounts to "If there is an accusation of such made by a woman, you should automatically believe!" and I simply pointed out that it was possible for women to make false accusations. For this I was threadbanned by a mod.

I decided to simply stop going to the forum entirely. Shame really since some of the people were nice and one of them even drew a free picture of my IronClaw PC.

Yeah, that first half of the post was so very, very close to being a critique on critical race theory and why it's so alienating to most people (including non-white people, because critical race theory prefers to sweep racism between different minorities under the rug), and then they make a hard left turn into parroting the same shit everybody else is.

Like, the idea that racism can exist on both a systematic level and an individual level with a person being prejudiced against certain races just escapes them. It's like they see it's raining and declare that there's a hailstorm outside. Same for if it's snowing, if it's drizzling, if there's lightning or thunder... It's all hail. And anybody that has an umbrella obviously has that umbrella all the time, and the umbrella never gets blown inside-out or breaks or gets left at home. If you have ever used a newspaper to shield your head, you've never had an umbrella ever, and you never will.

... This metaphor got weird and carried away and I'm not sure where I'm going with it.

These are the same group of people who whine about Republican obstructionism. When I get what I want, it’s democracy and justice. When I don’t get what I want, it’s fascism and oppression. A tyranny of the majority is great when you’re the majority.
