Warframe

I think the Railjack shit is what did it for me.
Railjack is actually my favorite content since I came back. It's really fun, especially solo with an NPC crew. Having a squad is when it becomes shit, especially with all the host migration and never-ending warp bugs. The NPCs are infinitely more skilled and coordinated than other players; unlike the players, they actually repair catastrophic damage and prevent the mission from instantly failing.

I like that there's exploration incentives for a little extra loot. Getting better drops and mods for your ship has a very noticeable impact on the gameplay, and many actually change the functionality of the ship. My Revenant Prime is my Railjack captain, and he absolutely annihilates the max level missions.

My only wish is that they fix these bugs and expand exploration, since there are tons of manmade structures in the field. Make more things destructible for resources and more derelicts able to be entered.

Yeah, I found Railjack scratching an itch for me, too. Just wish they fixed the nonsense with Orphix timers, since the short time makes me actively avoid those nodes. I think what did it for me was how much of a nothing The New War wound up being after all that buildup. I didn't pay a cent and still felt ripped off.

Yeah, Orphix is really annoying. I basically just had to run them multiple times in public mode until I could find a team that wasn't totally retarded just to clear the node and move on to non-shit missions.

I still haven't done New War. I have to get a Necramech first, and I'm not starting Cambion until I get everything I need from Fortuna, so it'll be a while. That's fine; I haven't enjoyed DE's writing since The Sacrifice. I'm sure the New War plot advancement is really boring and lazily written. And I've heard Duviri contributes nothing to the lore at all, and doesn't even explain its own mysteries satisfactorily.

Honestly after Duviri I'm done. DE is clearly never going to release new actual warframe content and the last few frames have left a lot to be desired. Citrine and Voruna are forgettable as fuck. Styanax was OK I guess. It feels like from this point onwards we're just gonna get frames that have a random assortment of various ability archetypes (plus designated helminth slot) and a bunch of arcanes that are either so good they're downright broken or utterly useless, and I doubt they're going to do anything about the rampant powercreep or awful scaling system.
They spent four years on this shit?

The Circuit's fine, especially because it's so easy and the rewards so desirable that it encourages shitters to stay for longer than 3 minutes unlike every other endless mode.
Needing to farm HUNDREDS of plants in Duviri for the Incarnons is extremely gay though

Hate to necropost, but does anyone else hate the new Corpus tilesets? I don't know why but there's something about the old Corpus tilesets, like the old Corpus Ship that I just like.

Though it was pretty interesting seeing newer Orb Vallis themed lockers and consoles on the old Corpus Ship.

Yeah, I miss the old tileset. The new one is just over-the-top and doesn't feel like the ship of a society of stuffy techno-bureaucrats, and I hate the new Corpus enemies on those maps. Not that it matters, as I'm so burned out that I've barely touched the game in months.

The new Corpus ships look more like luxury liners than, you know, military/transport ships. The old ships had shipping containers everywhere, large storage areas, crewmen locker rooms, etc. Why the fuck would the Corpus put so many gold statues and pointless decorations everywhere? They're not Orokin.

Plus the new tilesets run like shit.

One of the things that annoys me most about Warframe is Maroo's smug, bull-dyke voice. And then DE had to get even more pozzed and make Varzia, a woman who stands across the room from Maroo, sexually attracted to Maroo, because EVERYTHING HAS TO BE FUCKING GAY.

The inability to escape faggotry no matter where you go in western media is borderline parodic at this point. The new quest is a 2 hour long gay love story that ends with albrecht reading poetry about how much he wants to assfuck loid and you beat wally by lovingly caressing his face while loid cries in the background.

The cosmic god of eternity is literally defeated by the concept of gay sex.

Nevermind that albrecht was established as having a wife and kids which is what the entire deimos storyline was about.

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but compared to stuff like gw2 and destiny warframe managed to more or less keep modern politics at bay, but it seems nothing escapes the tide. The writing was already finicky, I'm not expecting it to get better at this point.

So, I've been on a break from Warframe after getting heartily sick of the Kahl missions and the Archon Hunts. I feel like I paid attention during the New War, and that I have an above-average understanding of the pre-New-War warframe lore, and I just played through the main quest of Duviri Paradox.

So, can someone explain to me why the hell I am supposed to care about the Drifter? As far as I can tell, the Drifter's defining character trait is that he's *not* the Tenno that I've been crafting and leveling and making decisions with since the beginning.

My understanding of the story of Duviri is that while the Tenno, you know, had all of the events of the game happen, the Drifter was a version of the Tenno who...didn't. The Drifter then went from being a kid to an adult while trapped in Duviri, except the Drifter created Duviri out of their own memories and general resentment. At some point, void fuckery started making bleed-through happen, and at some point after the intro of the New War, the Drifter wandered out into the real world.

The defining feature of the Drifter and Duviri, as I understand them, is that they are not real. Dominus Thrax is, as I am meant to understand it, a doll that Baby Tenno played with and then broke due to not being hot enough shit at a young age.

So why am I supposed to care about this place at all? It's a fake world where time can be reset repeatedly, nothing matters, and everything is at best a crude copy of something that exists or existed in the real world. I can't make a difference here; there are communities and at least implications of ties to a wider world in the other open-world areas. What is my motivation, other than loot for the Drifter (who I don't care about) for spending any time in Duviri at all?

I had the same issue. The entire expansion was literally all a dream the entire time of zero consequence to the main plot, it doesn't even explain how the drifter escaped. Its completely pointless.

The original trailers made it look like dominus was some sort of void god in his own pocket dimention trying to get out, I assume stuff was rewriten between the original teaser and what we actually got.

Wait WHAT.

When I last played Warframe, the final story missions were when you found out the Space Persian Empire had created the warframes by infecting coolguys with Space AIDS and actually Blue Guy With Giant Hand was behind it all or something along those lines. I thought it had a really good story for a video game and managed to build an intriguing world without collapsing into tired parables about modern politics.

Well, good to know that the bluehairs sunk their claws into it and made it all about gay sex. Just one more game I don't need to ever reinstall.

It came to me as a shock too, because warframe had been surprisingly good at keeping contemporary politics out up until this point with basically next to no infractions on that front.

It was a more or less timeless story and I assumed they kept it that way on purpose because they actually cared about it, which is why this tumblr shit came out of left field.

Intrestingly, they swapped the male director that had worked on the game for 10 years with a female director, the first major update she releases is a coma dream inconsequential to the main plot where you learn to control your emotions and the second major update she releases is a fujo fanfic where you defeat the villain by reading poetry about gays assfucking to him.

So, male director, built the game from the ground for 10 years included zero politics.

Female director, inherits the game, starts shoveling them by the truckload.

Holy shit I am so glad I quit a few years ago. I knew it was turning into trash.

I just did not expect that kind of trash.
I don't know what to tell anyone who didn't see this coming after meeting Sweet Transvestite in Forty Tunas/Nef Anyo's Neon Freezy Wonderland. Once you have a creepy fuck that buys bits and pieces of his old girlfriend's body to turn into a genderspecial toasterface golem, it's only a matter of time before it all goes directly to liquid shit.
