Sure he dresses himself up in machismo but at the end of the day he's very weak and submissive. You saw it when he called for police to protect him from Dan. You saw it when he confronted that dude in a MAGA hat and backed down the moment that the MAGA guy didn't take him all that seriously.

Weak men are dangerous as hell especially ones with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. He's also incredibly driven by his emotions and just cannot control himself in anything, either banging herpes ridden lesbos or his xeet addictions and NEED to start fights with randos online.

All this in mind leads me to believe that not only is pat is capable of killing someone, I absolutely DO believe that he threatened to kill his ex-wife and daughter and would even be able to carry it out, afterall a weak man can only go after people they perceive as weaker than than. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Pat ends up being the prison enjoyer in the end cause one night he drank just a bit too much and perhaps Nikki said something he misinterprets as her agreeing with the evil stalking cult on something.

I know that authors can occasionally run into the issue of their agent/editor pressuring them to flesh out certain aspects/B-plots of the story more, but once again if you’re actually passionate about the story you’re writing the bigger problem would be reducing the word count. It's not something to brag about.

“You have too much for one book but not enough for a sequel, or a sequel big enough to be considered a novel” is something authors would hear much more than, “Hey, I think you need to extend the B and C plots further.”

Only time word count should be a struggle for a so-called “writer” is a school essay in which you don’t get to pick your topic and the assigned one is particularly boring overall, or of zero interest to you. This applies to everyone from pure fiction writers to journalists. A creative who likes writing historical fantasy fiction and a newspaper sportswriter probably aren’t gonna have a fun time writing 5,000 words on how to fix pollution in the Ganges as it relates to Hinduism or some shit.
