One of the funniest things I ever read in this thread were his book sales number for a certain period (a month, I think). As you might expect, the numbers were tiny, but the incredible part is one book had sold -10 units.

Minus. Ten.

As in, he didn't sell a single one, and 10 people who had bought it returned it and asked for their money back! I couldn't believe my eyes, how can someone be this insanely inept at his job?

I think that moment I laughed for such a long time I lost about 15 IQ points from the hypoxia. Worth it. 10/10 would get brain damaged again.

I'm pretty sure I could go on lulu or something and make a 100 page book that just has the word "FUCK" over and over for 100 pages (and a cover of a middle finger) and outsell patrick for the year.

That would appear be this statute.

Beyond the jurisdictional issue there is this bit:
(5)(a) An individual whose personal identifying information is published in violation of this section may bring a civil action against: (i) The person or persons who published the personal identifying information; and (ii) any person who knowingly benefits, financially or by receiving anything of value, from participation in a venture that the person knew or should have known has engaged in an act in violation of this section.

That poster doesn't have the power to bring a suit of that nature on the behalf of Patrick for publishing the PII.

What is dangerous in that legislation is this bit:
(3) It is not a defense to a violation of this section that the personal identifying information at issue was voluntarily given to the publisher, has been previously publicly disclosed, or is readily discoverable through research or investigation.

So republishing an actual public record opens one up for a suit?

What will be interesting to see if some advertising networks get nailed over that law.
