She is the daughter of the main villain from the wano arc, she was physically abused and kept in a prison by her father, and was rescued by wano ninjas, that led her to have a lot of respect for them and their leader Oden, so much so that she literally larps as him even claiming that his son is her son.
These people use that as a way to claim that she is trans or whatever, and that she went to the mens bath instead of the womens one.

Troons have also seized on a panel in the manga in which a young Yamato sobs as she realizes her growing breasts have made it more difficult to wield a sword as proof she's a troon despite the author himself stating she is female and literally every other character in the referring to her as a women.

It's basically a repeat of the Bridget thing but with the original genders reversed.

I'm surprised they're still going at Yamato's case despite it's been like what? 3 years ago since the character was introduced in the manga.
Even the American branch of Toei Animation is spreading this bullshit this year on social media, despite it got it right last year.

She had an official info profile back in September 2021 that plainly states she's a woman (性別：女) and her official title is "Kaidou's child" (カイドウの子) on the corner. Previously it was カイドウの息子 - "Kaidou's son" when her identity was simply hidden.


The 2023 summer colorspread that featured only female characters got the Twitter activists upset too.

Guess that makes the game One Piece of shit, amirite?

Pun aside, Pirate Warriors 4 was really a big downgrade from 3 overall. Its sole merits were the proper size scaling of the characters and its PC port working properly.

I had to check other languages and while most follow the English, German was rewritten in a way to not use any pronouns. That makes me wonder whether the translator refused to call her "him" but couldn't get away with using "she".


Yamato follows Oden's notes to the letter. Experience a special* adventure with Yamato at all kinds of locations!

*literally "an own adventure", it would sound more natural to write "her own adventure" but instead of "her" they just used the indefinite article to avoid any pronouns.


I don't want to PL too hard here, but this kind of bullshit (especially "non binaries" breaking every grammar rule because there are no gender neutral pronouns) will soon either cost me my job or I will end up quitting.

It's a shame because there are definitely things AI won't catch, like use of ateji, weird same-pronunciation kanji substitutions, or katakana sounding out obscure foreign words. So you can't rely 100% on AI depending on the script in question.
