Feet are taboo. Feet are considered unclean, bc they're routinely in contact with the dirt and bc in some cultures feet/the lower half of the body are sometimes substitute terms/referents for the genitals (like the phrase 'suck my big fat toe'). So to have anything to do with feet is either just gross/insulting/degrading (think of Nader having Chantal kiss his feet or that reporter who threw his shoe at George W. Bush) or incredibly humbling (think of saints washing others' feet). Or... potentially grounds for a fetish.

Now whether this explains THESE pics, or whether these pics have anything to do with Salah, couldn't tell you. Edited bc first draft was not at all what I meant to say.
