I don't think anyone is delusional enough to think a different environment would "fix" Cobes, but I do think he'd benefit from an environment that would severely limit his alcohol and fast food intake. In an optimal situation they might even get him to start brushing his teeth! But I agree that it's an extremely optimistic outlook. He flips out when he's told not to drink too much at Christmas.
Every other setting that he lived in that provided rules and structure did not work well for Josh: Living at home, school, Job Corp, Wendy's...
The idea this is to do with parenting, or his environment, and not some serious developmental issue - which is highly likely to be congenital, given they recognised he was odd as early as the age of 2 - is most of the time people trying to get on their high horse about all this shit. How many of these people have children, let alone a child like Josh - probably very few.
Clint obviously isn't perfect, I don't agree with some of what he says - but it's clear there's nothing that can be done to "fix" Josh. It's probably a none starter, but the best he could do is try to limit Josh's internet streaming.
With that said, he's probably gotten to the point where he's far to stuck in his ways to ever give up his "independent" lifestyle now. Even if by some miracle he did get put in a home and actually managed to adapt to the more restrictive, healthier living conditions I have 100% confidence that reddit retards would act like this was somehow a supreme moral failing on Cobes' part and try to do anything they could to get him kicked out.
