The only reason a specific type of socially unacceptable sexual interest (zoophilia, pedophilia, etc.) is tolerated is that the administration for your website indulges in it.

That's why FurAffinity tolerates bestiality. That's why InkBunny tolerates "cub".

The fact that furries have a slang term for artistic depictions of child rape is bad enough. That it's a common word like "cub" and not borrowed from another language (i.e., lolita) sickens me.

If it weren't for the kind furries in my life, including my boyfriends, I'd have either quit the community or quit life itself a long time ago.

I've stopped explicitly "identifying" with the "furry community" since it's become almost a sort of confession of complacency in this, just the concept of the fandom itself is incredibly nebulous (at least ponyfags have a show and official merchandise to soy over or something).
What sucks is that these websites are a big part in representing the community in a more condensed state where it's not just random group chats and friend networks.
Resign to your own small corner of the community and observe the shitstorm from afar, the only way to win this stupid game is to not play.

Its the name of a book (and the name of a primary character from said book) where the main character of the book has an illicit and manipulative sexual relationship with an underage girl. Because of the subject matter of the book, the title/name of the young girl in the book started to be applied as a slang term for other depictions of pedophilia/hebephilia. But it never was some other languages term for pedo/hebe shit.

Technically, it is in another language for the Japanese, which is where we got the resurgence of the term. By the way, most people using the term have never read the book. Even with the protagonist/narrator trying to excuse everything he does, that story is grim.

There's a joke that furry cons are mostly staffed by babyfurs (as in ABDL). There's a variant that says volunteering for furry cons is the easiest way to come out as a babyfur. This is why I stopped going to cons over a decade ago.

Consider this: If you type the Greek lowercase zeta into Twitter or BlueSky's search field, you'll find out-and-proud zoophiles with little effort. I'm sure there are similar signs for pedophiles. (I don't think "MAP" is super helpful because it's also a common English word, and I feel brain-damaged enough without punishing my curiosity further on this topic.)
