It looks like he knocked on a neighbor’s door in his apartment complex and asked her to please please just hold this sign up for me. She stood at the open door, held his stupid sign, then shut the door hoping the weird neighbor wouldn’t bother her again.

When I glanced at the pic it looked like cheap storm door grating on the left, and you can just see a tiny peak into her apartment. So she opened her door and quickly held up the sign.

The sign looks like what a not too bright man thinks a cute girl’s handwriting would look like, based on his vague memories from high school.

It’s folded because he carefully crafted it at home, folded it and kept it handy waiting until he could see the woman was home to ask,

Honestly I have no digital image skills, so my impression of what’s going on in that photo is just my own interpretation of a shitty image. People with some actual talent with digital photos could suss out details, but it looked like someone standing in a doorway while Dan snapped a photo.

I'm pretty convinced it's a woman, most likely of indigenous descent, like Zapotec or Native American. It's Arlington, so that checks out. A lot of them have meatier hands like the person in the picture and similar skin tones. Definitely not some hot chick that Nick would want to fuck, though. It also explains why the contents of the sign are so vague. I suppose Danny could be a troon, but from Randy's obit, they were still going by Dan, even informally, so I doubt they've made any steps to change their appearance.

The more reasonable explanation is Dan had slim pickings. He would have chosen someone more outwardly feminine if he had paid some fiverr rando to do this, and the fiverr person wouldn't have written such an awkward note with a pen running out of ink and the obviously fake handwriting. The intimacy of the picture's location (sitting on a bed; there's a headboard behind them and you can see a bit of the pillows, plus there's a nightstand to the side), the lengths they went to hide as much of their appearance as possible, coupled with the angle, leads me to believe that this person is likely a relative or someone that inherently trusts Dan and wouldn't ask any questions.

I haven't been on the thread enough to know what evidence there is for the catfishing being a guy. I do know for a fact the Daniel Paul Harris is Raz0rs name which is a very odd coincidence considering the Rekieta and Raz0r connection. Both are also Lolcows in their own right (Nick significantly more so. Just doesn't seem likely to me.
Again I really do want it to be true as that would be hilarious. Just feels like gay ops to me.
