while I think this isn't wrong, I also believe there are several issues at work here:
  1. consumerist culture and the valorization of individual gratification generally;
  2. a breakdown in collective society incentivizing people to give up on their impulses to prioritize their connections with others;
  3. the deleterious mental effects of the internet, where it's extremely easy to fall into a dopamine feedback loop, especially where communities are concerned. I think a lot of the most degenerate behavior comes from groups of people who initially meet around some kind of activity that represents a peril if indulged in too heavily, who then all make each other worse as time goes on by their continued association. gang culture is the classic example of this in meatspace; troonism is the online one.
like any technology, porn is something that can be helpful and liberating if used correctly, and a dire peril to your sanity if not. the existence of porn itself is not the problem, nor will you solve coomerism by destroying it, just like you can't solve gun violence by destroying guns. like anything humans create, porn reflects the interchange between creator and consumer, it doesn't magically come into existence without demand, and it doesn't magically corrupt people who would otherwise be unsusceptible to it. that said, there are a lot of social issues we're suffering that lead people down a bad path - however, blaming porn for coomerism is a retarded oversimplification, and not everybody who uses porn is destined to develop coomer brain disease. also since OP is literally a faggot, it sounds like he's projecting. namaste.

No. Porn can't be helpful or liberating. That's like saying that slavery can be helpful or liberating. For one party slavery can be helpful, sure. In this case, porn can't be helpful for either party. It's already been established that porn harms the brain, there's no way around this. Not only that, but it's inherently damaging because it requires constant escalation. You might start watching really vanilla porn and end watching the most extreme and heinous shit, and enjoying it. It is also the case that when you watch porn the part of the brain that activates is the part that deals with objects, not people. What are the implications of this? The implications are that porn is inherently dehumanizing and objectifying, and research supports this. It has been found that those who watch porn are more likely to justify (and be more comfortable with) sexual assault, violence and rape, and are more likely to blame the victim.

Porn is inherently destructive. There are no redeeming qualities to it, and everyone would be better off if they stopped consuming it.
