The real struggle with "conservatives" is trying to get through to them with the uncomfortable reality that our constitution has been toilet paper for a very long time.
There is nothing left to conserve.
Anything they would want has to be reconquered and reimposed by raw power.

This entire argument could be used for Trump and the 14th amendment disqualification claims. I've seen people claim that Colorado has the right to declare insurrection because the feds refuse to do their job and declare it. Abbott is doing the same. Both are wrong.

The difference being that insurrection is defined as a federal law, and requires a federal conviction (per the bill of rights due process amendments), while the invasion at the southern border is a matter of emperically observable fact and an official determination and declaration by the state of Texas.
The states have a right to act on it, and the federal government has a duty to act on it.
These are arguably NOT mutually exclusive, but if the feds are going to assert they are, then any court order for Texas to stop should be coupled with an order for the feds to do their damn job.
This might be scary and you may not like it, but if the Democrats had railroaded Trump for insurrection in the DC Circuit in 2021, their 14th amendment cases would stick. (and you know damn well a DC jury would vote to convict. The only people who live in DC are corrupt government officials, lobbyists, and the detritus of society who live on their gibs.

To those who doom about Hillary being parachuted in for '24, let it be clear that the above words (in the context of Epstein) have fully ensured that it will never be Her Turn™. This alone would tank her campaign. Given that pedophilia is so fucking morally and physically repugnant unlike anything else, something like this can never be avoided/suppressed fully during something as public, spotlit and long form as a presidential campaign. Especially when the public at large already views it as factual. It would take herculean efforts on the part of the journoswine to even marginally bury it, and it's unlikely* (gimme rainbows) that they would hemorrhage whatever lingering shreds of trust/reputation they have left to defend someone with non-existent political and social capital from something so heinous. And I doubt Hillary would be as quick to defend pedophilia as a woman vying for the POTUS Iron Throne (again, gimme rainbows). Extramarital affairs are one thing, but this? I'd offer condolences to @The Last Stand, but he seems to have turned over a new leaf recently.
