General Wrestling Discussion

Looks like Hunter and Nick Khan are going to try to establish a Japanese foothold for WWE again. They are looking to partner with a men's promotion and and women's promotion separately.

NJPW has come up as the mens promotion because they think Tanahashi will be open to serious negotiations because it would be a huge scalp for him to have a hand in establishing a WWE/NJPW version of Forbidden Door.

You know who I entirely forgot about and then rediscovered through looking up a video of Matt Riddle's NJPW "debut"? Jordan Myles, fka ACH. I had entirely forgotten that WWE had hired that dude, booked him to win whatever it was he won, and then he started crying racism over a t-shirt with some teeth on it, and was let go or fired and then he maybe showed up on the indies a time or two after that, but other than that I ain't heard shit about that nigga. Did he retire fully from wrestling or what? Seems like he dropped off the face of the planet.

Edit: oh and he called Jay Lethal an Uncle Tom which was fucking hilarious

Njpw would finally be working with a relevant American promotion again

as far as i can remember, he bitched about his name and shirt being racist as its a "slave" name and his shirt resembled a black face, and he wanted to be called ACH againanan, and then WWE booted him off, ironically the only person standing up to him was Titus O'Neil, and since then he spazzed out and faded away. not sure if he is still alive or being booked, making a thread about him would be uninteresting though.

I just don’t think WWE in it’s current form would do something like throw the Cody story to the wayside just to get Rock vs Roman which will do nothing except make us have Roman as champ for another 5 months or at worst, a year.
Roman doesn’t really have many opponents left in WWE. Don’t pull an AEW and draw this out longer than it needs to go.

I've learned over the years to not let WWE have a pass as far as "not doing the retarded thing". Vince may be gone, but Wrestling is still a Business of Lolcows.

If they get the Rock-Roman match out of the way at EC? Fucking great, let's end this thing at Mania so we can all move the fuck on. Unfortunately, I have this sinking feeling that the Rocks appearance at EC is going to be to cut a promo that goes too long and is him challenging Roman to a match at Mania, delaying the title change to... idk, fucking Summerslam (herpaderp "End the Reign where it started!" and other shit taglines go here)
All of this drama could’ve been avoided had Vince not unified the titles. It would’ve been easy.
If I agree with you on nothing else its this. Yeah, you got a cool visual, but all it did was fuck RAW's Main Event scene until the consolation Big Gold Belt was introduced. At least during Trip's Reign of Terror you could just watch Smackdown - say what we will about JBL's reign, at least his wins were generally screwy enough that people he beat still looked strong.

And what other Champion went to the border to personally kick out illegals?

It’s a teaser for a stable called CAB, meaning Cock, Balls and Ass. Ass obviously means that Mr.Ass Billy Gunn is getting another NJPW run. Balls means that TAKA is turning heel and returning to his Kai En Tai roots and Matt Riddle is the cock. This will end with a match against House of Torture in a CAB torture match where the losers are castrated
It would be very sports entertaining.

He okayed the shirt design personally, but as soon as people on the internet started crying that the shirt was racist so did ACH. There are receipts for all of this that WWE released as soon as he turned heel on them for internet points. No one wants to touch the guy because if he is willing to snake on a very profitable job for literally no reason there is reason he wouldn't snake on some promotion paying him in hotdogs and handshakes.
Didn't wwe and new Japan actually have a working relationship in the late 80s/early 90s?
The WWWE, under Vince Sr, Worked with JWA as part of the NWA. When Inoki spun NJPW he made Hisashi Shinma his booker and through the NWA arrangement Vince Sr became very close friends with Hisashi and even made him the Kayfabe president of the WWWE. When Vince Jr took over he fucked the whole NWA thing up, but kept NJPW as part of a working relationship until he ended up breaking that too which is why you saw all the NJPW guys in WCW during the 90s.

this is implying rock's agents and shit will ever let him wrestle again

From a supposed "leaker" I've heard Rock/Roman is slated for Australia and Cody/Roman is still the plan for Mania. If they do it right it could work, have Roman lose his "head of the table" title and then Cody finishes the story at Mania and destroys the Bloodline. It would be a pretty solid way to wrap it all up in my opinion. It elevates the fuck out of Cody and can cement him as "the guy" if that's what HHH is thinking.

We know WWE's already sending Regal's son to AJPW for a stint and I've heard that Nick and HHH are really looking to work with Stardom on the women's side of things, makes sense given they're the most prominent promotion in that sphere. I think Vince might've been the big hurdle stopping them from doing more "forbidden door" type stuff with the Japs so with him taking a backseat it allows them to work more fluidly.

He retired in 2021 but wrestled until 2022. Hasn't wrestled since September 1st 2022.
I know the original plan was to do forbidden door in the states and wrestle dream in Japan but the timing wasn't right last year. Not sure if that's still the plan this year though.
I think that's also why Rocky helped them get the deal with CMLL so they can get rid of AAA so they'll have an easier time working with NJPW without dealing with that drama.

That was WCW in the 90's WWF in the 80's. They also did business with AJW in the 80's and early 90's.

Aren't lucha bros still AAA affiliated? I know dumping Andrade cut at least one tie to them.

Andrade was going to go over to CMLL but seems those plans are done. The Botch brothers are still with AAA though. I hope they get rid of them so they stop seriously injuring people. Currently MLW and TNA have working relationships with CMLL in the West, and AEW being the newest one for that. If they're honest about wanting to work with other promotions it would be smart to get rid of the dead weight that is AAA and Konnan and stick with them. This also ruins AAA's plans to ever get into the American market.
