Hail, Kiwi Farms! My contacts deep in Lucasfilm have told me that Rosario Dawson has been FIRED! Yet another causality in the Kathleen/Favrou Civil War because she wasn't woke enough. Along with this EXCLUSIVE info my contact also sent me a picture of the new actress that will play Ahsoka:

That's right, Christine Weston Chandler will be playing Ahsoka in Dave Filoni's Mandoverse movie!

Chris Chan will end the Lucas Film civil war and get the franchise back on track. Let Disney know how much you hate thier current output by watching Ahsoka so you can see how bad it is for for yourself. Use the code DOOMCOCK2024 for 10% off your Disney+ subscription.

I think they simply have no other option and that is why this movie is is going forward toward inevitable disaster. Disney has a calendar going 5-10 years into the future and it must be filled out with new film releases even if there is no good story idea. I think in their minds this movie is their best option because

-They cant admit defeat on the ST which was supposed to be Iger and Kennedy's legacy. The Rey movie plot is probably going to fix as many of the criticism as they can to make the ST look better in retrospect.
-Daisy was probably cheap to get
-Moving forward into a generic Jedi training plot lets them basically ignore most lore. I think there is a decent chance the movie will again take place on the outer rim and probably barely address the state of the galaxy.
- Rey's Jedi class will probably be full of characters that they can try to spinoff into solo movies ala marvel.

From the director and the general activism. The film will have to be about rebuilding the Jedi Order as female focused and better because of it. It'll be Rey and her female Padawans. With the one male one drifting towards the dark.

The director will be exploring men as if they're all Pakistani males.

I think at this point, they're trying to pull a Ghostbusters 2016 on us and use rage bait as a means of generating buzz. Think about it, who other than the Fandom Menace types really cares about Star Wars anymore, much less talks about it? Judging by the shrinking box office numbers, normies don't give a fuck about Star Wars. Even the most masochistic of OG fans have moved on by now, unless they're now part of the aforementioned Fandom Menace camp. Prequel fans are either zoomie-zooms that like the films for the sake of kitschy irony and le epic may-mays, or they're fans of the much better ancillary works that did much of the work of redeeming the prequel timeline, like The Clone Wars, Republic Commando, or the original Battlefront 2. Neither of those groups are going to care much about a new movie, as the new movies are likely to lack the same cheese factor that drew in the former crowd, and they'll be certain to lack the same quality that drew in the latter crowd. I'd argue the Sequel Trilogy has very few people that are fans for the movies on their merits, that group mainly consists of reddit contrarians that take pleasure in appropriating something that you once held dear. Lest you think I'm wrong ask a Sequel Trilogy fan what they actually like about these things, and time how long it takes them to mention Admiral Holdo, dabbing on chuds, or 'le subverting expectations'. The Sequel Trilogy is creatively bankrupt and they know it, and third-party works aren't coming to the rescue this time as they did with the prequel trilogy, since the worldbuilding left virtually no room for that. Say what you will about the prequel trilogy, Lucas knew better than to fuck with the tie-in works.

It's pretty likely that this movie is never going to see the light of day. Ever since TLJ underperformed and Solo outright crashed, they've been consistently pushing back release dates or repurposing the existing projects into TV, as they did with Obi-Wan. COVID and the writers' strike account for some of this behavior, but not all. They've held the license since late 2012 and have only released five films, not a one of which since 2019. To put that in context, Disney purchased Marvel in 2009, and in the same 11 year timespan released twenty films including the entirety of the Thanos saga, and made enough to cover the $4 billion price tag on the core Avengers movies alone. It seems like a move explicitly designed to ruffle feathers and milk just a little bit more attention before they quietly shelve the project. There's no other explanation for bringing in a pajeet that doesn't have a single conventional movie credit to their name. If they actually intend to go forward with a movie helmed by a total outsider after Rian Johnson fucked them sideways and snipped every hanging plot thread Abrams set up in TFA, then they're outright trying to crash this shit with no survivors.

It's obvious what's happening to Star Wars with that new feminist activist director. It's the same shit that happened to many game studios EA or Activision swallowed back in the day, where they whore out franchises to pump out low-quality garbage but the guys up top still get a lump sum of cash from failing because they had golden parachutes. This time, Blackrock and ESG are their golden parachutes. Disney keeps on making low-quality drek for Marvel and Star Wars, but so long as it passes ESG's liberal values test, the CEOs get a lump sum of cash to go along with their failing product, and even if Lucasfilm crashes and burns, they got their money from Blackrock, and they couldn't care less. Even if Lucasfilm and Disney go down under, guys like Bob Iger will still be cleared for more loans since he's kosher in the eyes of the PC department running these big banks.

There's a very high chance that this Rey movie just gets relegated to another Disney + show. Absolutely no one gives a shit about Rey, if a Han Solo film flopped, then a Rey film will be an even bigger box office disaster. Part of me does want to see it happen just to see how much a failure it is at the boxoffice.

Part of the problem is the Han Solo film is literally the second best film they made, and it flopped because of mismanagement. People may quibble but would any one rather watch one of the sequels over solo? No. It has some dumb choices and scenes but it isn't bad at all.

I think it was on Film Threat, they were floating the idea the director maybe hired some PR to promote herself and the film because it was facing the chopping block. As it makes no sense for her to be on a press tour at the present time.

At this point, nothing would surprise me. It's already been pointed out ad nausuem in the thread how Disney squandered the opportunity to have the SW franchise continue to be a big money maker. A lot of it boils down to an excessive focus on current year politics and the other is the focus on gratifying the lowest-tier fans who prefer quantity over quality. With recent efforts on and off film not being as successful as anticipated, I can easily see a lot of what's being discussed or proposed ending up as unproduced vaporware or content that ends up mired in relative obscurity as a streaming-only release.

I wasn't able to capture it at the time I saw it, but I recently came across a clickbait type article that debated the question why there aren't more fat people in Star Wars. In its attempt to argue the franchise needs more body diversity (for lack of a better term to express this), it actually stated that Lezzo Lizzo was one of the few fat actors/actresses to have a role in the franchise.

TFW when an article asking for HAES in Star Wars ends up fat shaming a celeb in the process. :story:

I'm shocked what happens with Star Wars. This IP now nothing more than an outlet for woke activists. If someone wants to make a feminist space opera so be it, make an indie movie. But using a beloved franchise for your message and killing it is so fucking sinister. I see not only incompetence here, I see malice and cultish behavior.

After I saw that new director I felt nothing but dread. This is fucking horrible. The movie will be crap, we all know that. What I'm worrying about is the destructive force behind the scenes. These monsters will still be rich and go on destroying other franchises after they are done with SW.

Anime is really the only mainstream avenue to quality entertainment these days and Western nerds seethe that they can't get into it. Not to say they aren't trying to infiltrate it too, but their comics industry essentially works like Comicsgate, but with supersized marketing. It also has cascading effects on their entertainment industry as a whole too since they still need to make shows that actually sell toys.

The West simply refuses to adapt at this level.

Given how much Disney paid for the franchise and how lucrative it used to be, they are going to continually fuck with it in hopes they find success and can salvage value out of it. As I mentioned in the thread in A&N, Disney bean counters expect to make billions of dollars in gross or net income per annum and aren’t going to throw up their hands and walk away from it, even though they should. Any attempts to make it similar to the original trilogy or even the prequels will get shouted down as white supreeeemacy. These dumbasses are stuck in a situation entirely of their own making.

I don't think it's that simple anymore. If all they wanted is money, they'd have just hired Michael Bay and made 15 movies of Luke Skywalker and friends blowing shit up while he fucks a hot redhead, and that would've made both the normie movie-goers and the SWEU fans happy. It worked for Transformers, it could easily work for SW. I mean, sure, Bay was hated by the critic crowd and the online rags, but his movies made billions in the box office. It isn't that hard to make SW profitable, even if you're just a dipshit who just barely graduated out of business school. It's the same crap that happened to capeshit; they want cheap ESG money while keeping the politically-correct rags happy. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Which is why they keep on failing.

That's because anime isn't made in America; it's made in a very insular, traditional, capitalist country where they don't give two shits about SJW values. And the funny thing is, anime appeals to not only people in America and Europe, but people outside of that too; people in Latin America and other parts of Asia, including that much-sought-after Chinese market, love anime. Disney can't put two and two together and figure out that pleasing the fans is how you get their money. I mean, China loved the Michael Bay Transformers films; if Disney made the same kind of film but with Luke Skywalker replacing Optimus Prime, people would love it.

Hell, if it were me, I'd make a Jedi Knight series with Kyle Katarn played by Sean Bean.

But then he doesn't die.
Of course he doesn't. But he has the face and the beard for the job.

Yeah Chinese love anime, and I think Dragonball was huge in Latin America. They even had Kinnikuman (Muscle Man) which never got an US release...

Exactly. Anime makes money because it's still fun; it's a product people want more of. Meanwhile, Disney struggles to sell Star Wars to Asia, even though it's already half-Asian and would've easily sold if they had the right director at the helm. If Michael Bay can make billions off the Chinese, any half-competent director can. Disney's insistence on adding DEI elements to appease western capital interests will result in the death of the brands they've swallowed.

disparu pointed out that she absolutely has no credentials for that kind of project, which one comment (I know I know) suggested that she most likely is hired as PR to "keep star wars in the headlines" while being woke as fuck, and if the movie ever happens will actually be done by someone else like a ghost writer for movies.

otoh this is fucking disney, I full expect they give her full control over the movie and then do a surprised pikachu when it bombs even harder than the marvels.

either way once the movies goes further than pre-production I'm grabbing my popcorn.

The films being written by Steven Knight, who is a long credentialled writer. He created shows like Peaky Blinders, See and the absolutely fantastic SAS: Rogue Heroes.

Her lack of credentials only makes sense if she's just some figure head for the production. Where she'll probably just be directing the basic actor scenes in the film. The film will have The Third Floor or someone else do a thorough pre-vis of the film. All the action will be second unit stunt teams directing. The visual effects supervisor will be in charge of all the VFX action direction. Which is what happens anyway for most of these films.

It's like how you hear about directors talk about being offered Marvel films which are already completely done in pre-vis. Does anyone really think these indie film makers that get given giant movies can suddenly scale up and direct something 300 times or more the budget of what they have done previously?

They'll then just claim the virtue. If the film fails, they then just blame the fans and the director gets the career hit while the executives running the show do the same thing with another film.
