In my continuous effort to torture myself with YouTube slop I decided to catch up with the Monument Mythos and I mean to save people some time with my findings. I know that no one here respects anaslop horror, myself included, but there's something weirdly fascinating about Alex Casanas' work because is like unadulterated political schizo posting made by someone who we know is not that far away from being a legit schizo. I'm a schizo, he's a schizo, let's get this party started.
The Monument Mythos has 'rebooted' it's own universe at least twice and still refuses to die. I'm going to try and explain what happens and I'll need to you to picture the Pepe Silva conspiracy wall because this isn't going to be easy. Back in Wendi's first video he guessed that the MM was following two parallel universes, something Alex established was not the case until the Nixonverse. Is very easy to assume we are universe hopping because almost every season ends with the implication that everything ended. The MM is (or at least was supposed to be) a series of videos documenting and exposing the crimes of the American government against its own citizens as compiled by a fringe group of people that depending on your read are either controlled opposition or the biggest victims in the story. That, alongside the in-universe tech limitations due to extra-dimensional entities using electricity served to excuse the crappy visuals and world building. I was originally going to give you a whole walkthrough as to what happens in this story but it isn't worth the effort for the purposes of this rant.
Alex/Mister Manticore/Monument Monster/Schizo Florida Man has jumped the shark. Maybe you've heard that he has decided to take a look at contemporary American politics with the MM and even Trump shows up but I think that the true sign of raped by panda is that Alex has decided to use a digital camera and real actors. No exceptions, every time one of these wankers wants to play real director they film the most stale shots of nothing happening and we get to endure the wooden acting of their friends that makes a good chunk of the Monument Mythos Today, which is almost par in quality with The Munsters Today. Alex only got 2 live action actors so far and both are named after characters from previous seasons aka older characters from a different timeline, both actors seem to have no range (likely poor direction too) and most of the screen time goes to a non binary actor that always wears overalls and golden sparkle eye gloss. My personal highlights are Maya (the non binary actor) pacing around her apartment holding a cat named Mr. Squirrel before the special tree makes her disappear through the magic of After Effects and that Leonard's (Florida Man cosplaying Dot Marie Jones) backstory involves surviving a mind control device that looks like Target's logo. For some reason analogical TVs and cassettes exist alongside digital cameras and smartphones.
As for the universe in previous seasons it had been established that monuments either concealed special trees, these burnt looking things that can bend over themselves and zap you away to an alternate universe, or they hid cosmic horror monsters like a colossal and deformed by special tree George Washington. This season all monuments worldwide have American nukes inside or rather 'threats' and for what's implied they already were used in some capacity in something called Operation Seed. Donald Trump talks in an ominous voice, has hyper realistic eyes, cries blood and wrote American Psycho in this timeline or rather American President (wonder if this is a reference to Trump's book when he said he wanted Oprah as his vice president) because it feels like a creepypasta version of that since Trump talks about how celebrities should run for president and Robert Pattinson has his support. Robert Pattinson becomes president as a Democrat against Trump and goes schizo once he discovers what the position in this universe entails. Both parties serve specific monsters that select who is nominated, each president refers to their specific monster as their 'boss'. Virginia Arnoldson, a character that experienced a lifetime of grief for her relation to the trees has an even grimmer context now as she used their bark to craft small houses only she could fit into and after disappearing became a giant gorilla skull with spider legs named the Debate Demon, the boss of the GOP. Favourite bit is that there's a montage of Virginia running and turning into the Demon with a MIDI cover of Take Me To Church that's supposed to be an original piece. The DNC is ruled by a creature called the Monument Monster, a demonic looking thing with a long and bent neck that used to be Mickey Mouse.
Final episode are tapes of Donald Trump asking whoever found his tapes to destroy his body after Robert Pattinson nuked America and betrayed his trust. 6/10 on the Fallout larp considering Trump's voice near sounds like a Fallout npc.
