Irresponsible spending is not attractive in general. Literally giving up the opportunity to buy a property, if that's what you want, to mutilate yourself is ridiculous. I've got more respect for certain friends of mine who moan about not owning a house when they go on holiday every 5 minutes and drink most nights of the week, at least they're getting some short term fun instead of making themselves permanently miserable.
