On the flipside, the tranny epidemic isn't as pronounced as it could be. There's a lot out there, but the scene in general is pretty vigilant when it comes to ousting egregious sexpests, which is probably the only time I'm in favour of scene policing.
i know what you mean because there's always trannies and soys self inserting with the "hello fellow metal fans, lets talk about how problematic the scene is, we need to do better" but the few times i've personally seen it the response is mostly mockery, calling them posers and telling them to cope and seethe but i wouldn't know how far the rot goes beyond that. I feel in other stuff like Tabletop games those elements are much more welcomed and propped up to rise within the community but metal fans are more contentious.

The bay area and most of the east coast scenes are really awful, full of "uhm yikeroonies that's problematic sweaty" types who will handwring and throw temper tantrums at anything that even slightly rubs them wrong.
I've heard about Antifa protesting and trying to sabotage gigs of black metal bands in the USA for being yikes inducing. But that just makes those bands and the fans hate them even more. Ironically those faggots are boycotting independent artists on behalf of the establishment and corporations but still think they are the freedom fighters

3d printed nude Sisters of Battle, sometimes chained up or pregnant, pollute ebay searches for miniatures now. They even pop up when you try to add keywords like "metal" that should exclude resin prints. It's gross.
Troons have really made their way into some strange circles. I wonder if it's just because of the ultra autistic multi hobby aspect of 40k that they seem so prevalent. Not only is 40k a board game which is autistic as is but the miniatures can be customized, kitbashed, painted etc which is another hobby in and of itself. I've known 40k fans who don't even play the game. They just collect the pieces and paint them. For the Sisters of Battle case it's also combined the third autist hobby of 3D printing. It's like an unholy trinity.

It's not just people protesting the shows, it's also promoters and booking agents refusing to do business with perceived wrongthink bands. For example, the guys who book Maryland Deathfest (and a bunch of other festivals) are pretty militant leftwingers who make a conscious effort to not do business with anybody vocally right of center.

After covid it only got worse because so many venues went out of business and so many people got out of the booking/promoting game, the pool of contacts and resources totally shrunk and got more cliqueish. Things are still in shambles.

metal like KF survives in the most hostile conditions and is full of stubborn spergs, hopefully new alternatives to the alternatives keep a lifeline going

The industrial/noise scene is starting to lean that way now. The punk scene is just all antifa faggots living in inner city areas, heads so far up each others arses they are human centipodes,

I came across this fat retard in my travels to gigs. A self obsessed clout chasing boomer, obsessed with trannies "donates" all his proceeds from his merch sales to a foundation that helps kids transition. Rate me MATI but I'd celebrate if this fucking groomer became road paste.

Found his bandcamp as well, it's shit https://dorfpunk.bandcamp.com/

when your band is so anti-system that it has the same values as Coca Cola and Goldman Sachs. Very rebellious

What I CAN'T ignore is the "value speculation influencers".
this is a really good one. My parents got fucked by the 08 recession (mom worked in real estate) and so as a teenager my family was hella broke so I couldn't afford a 360 or a Ps3 back then. so I was stuck with the ol trusty ps2, snes & 64. games were dirt cheap for those. Even RPGs and shit for ps1/snes I think I bought earthbound for $20 in 2010 from a game store, the lunar games and mega man legends on ps1 also cost me around that. I had basically every single major title for the snes, ps1, 2, gameboy, and 64 all bought for basically nothing. As a high schooler I'd take $50 and hit a game store and get 20 games, go to a thrift store and spend $20 for 20 videos when I got paid at my first job every week and then spend the rest on beer and weed and women and life was good.

thank god for everdrives, ODEs and emulation because people today who are interested in retro games got totally fucked by YouTube inflating the prices. Visiting my dad for Christmas at that same game store I saw super star wars empire strikes back for $25 and castlevania symphony of the night for $65. I know for a fact (stickers are still on em) I paid $3 for the former and $9.99 for the latter just 10/11 years ago. ps2 games you could still find new in Wal-Mart for $20 or $15. Covid hit me pretty hard so I sold most of my games because I have odes & everdrives now anyways but I made on ebay almost $10,000 on probably $1000 worth of things that I already thought I paid too much for.

as a side note to all of that I was pretty well known around town a very popular kid so there was this dude at the game store I went to who was in a shitty indie band who got some radio play so he thought he was a god and wanted to keep fucking high school girls. that guy while in retrospect was a pedo was hella cool to me and my best friend and I would go up there every Friday before going to the movies (where said friend worked so we got in free) and as long as I invited his weird ass to high school parties or let him come to my house to buy and drink beer would give us the box of and let us steal game boy games. at one point my friend and I had between us 800 something gameboy and gameboy color games. my buddy had a poor family too and he ended up moving out of state and when he left I gave him my whole collection because we used to mainly play them on the super game boy snes at his house. Unfortunately I was visiting him recently for his birthday and was like dude you gotta sell those gameboy games you probably have $5k at LEAST in that but he lost them in the move years ago. We think the movers saw he had a fucking moving crate filled with video games and ran off with em. sad shit.

I hear you, though prices have started to recede a bit (particularly on sealed games) from the covid peak. Alot of people are unloaded this stuff now, so it hasn't been selling as much as it had been. Found out the hard way when I sold some things I meant to years ago and just kept putting it off until recently - didn't get as much as I expected.

Thinking back though, the scam artist 'investors' and 'resellers' were the first shoe to drop in shitting up retro gaming, around 2010 or so, well before YT retrooming was a thing. There is a direct line between the earlier generation of scammers and the 'influencers', the latter picking up where the former left off.

sorry to hear that bud, yeah I sold my shit during early covid and made way more than I thought I would. what made me do it is I modded a 2DS for my lady who had watched me play dragon quest 11 and wanted to play the DS ones and I saw that the 3DS ones I had bought like 2 years earlier for like $10 new were selling for $100 and I was like fuck what else do I have I can put out.

the writing was on the wall though as people kept putting put retarded hidden gem videos filled with shit anyone there at the time knew about and talking about how earthbound and conker were $300 games and shit. the only reason I dove dick deep into everdrives and stuff was I saw that type of thing rising from retards on YouTube who obviously had never even played the games they were sucking off during the 2010s and thought wow old shit will be way too expensive to have as a hobby going forward.

what its hit now is VHS tapes. I have my old living room crt from my parents and in my actual living room I have what I think is the only blu ray/vcr combo so I still use them all the time and it was straight up because I couldn't afford DVDs so I kept buying tapes, or would Redbox a movie and DVD into my vcr and tape the bitch and for about a decade a video of something was less than a dollar and now influencer retards have made it a premium to buy a common ass video bc zoomers younger than me who never owned a vcr are dumb enough to pay $60 for a tape of Halloween 2 from the 80s. Anime videos are nuts I have a full set of og Gundam and am only missing about 5 from dragon ball, z, & gt uncut and that's at this point a literal goldmine and I got all of them clearanced at K-Mart for $3 back in the day.

This came up on my lawn my fb feed.

The top half I can follow, but the lower one just makes my brain feel like it's being stretched out and twisted into a pretzel.
I don't remember spock being all that I remember him being "cool weird eared guy from a culture that is taught to control their emotions like monks also something involving space racism". There's a few moments where he slips and gets pissed and flies into a murder rage but otherwise he's like "the straight man" to a lot of weird shit that goes on.

used game prices are what you've gotta be looking out for. "sealed" games are always gonna be scalped to hellto some degree it;s the used gamemarket theat's really fucking been shot dead by this shit for a lot of games.

One of the earliest cases of this bullshit was Earthbound which was being scalped by the fuckers during the early 2010s and slightly earlier used for a shitload of money and was hyped as a 'rare game" despite it being basically a first party nintendo title that's main issue was it was force-bundled with a strategy guide if you bought it which made it more expensive than other games fo a while till it started hitting bargain bins and shit.

Yeah another early one was Conker's bad Fur Day. I actually heard of someone who was hoarding hundreds of complete copies of that when it first started to go up in value, just to give you an indication of how those people behaved.

Is not scarcity but hype that drives prices in collectibles, as well as auction house manipulation. There's very few items in the gaming world that are truly rare anyways, most of the retro games being scalped were popular mass market products and shouldn't be a reason not to exceed demand of retro gamers if not for hoarding.

They're not welcome but you can't gatekeep a commercial hobby. How do you stop Games workshop from selling to people you don't want buying? They can't stop you buying Space Marines and painting them as nazis despite them wishing they could. The troons are now inside the companies and forcing this stuff, but the wider community doesn't like them or want them around. It's not like MTG, where the player base is accepting at worst. Tabletop gamers just want to grill and are opposed to the sex and porn types from being part of their communities. Reddit is the exception but it's reddit, what did you expect?
Troons have really made their way into some strange circles. I wonder if it's just because of the ultra autistic multi hobby aspect of 40k that they seem so prevalent. 40k has been main stream since the 90s if not earlier. There were always freaks around doing weird stuff but never like today. The shift comes from youtube lore videos, where you can be fully immersed in 'the hobby' without ever rolling a dice. We had a problem with Dawn of war bringing in a lot of casuals who didn't understand things but they were interested in the tabletop game as a game. The advent of loretubers and 3 hour essay videos did so much damage to tabletop communities because it opened up a way to be involved in the hobby without doing any thing. If you wanted lore before you had to buy expensive books and read them, which wasn't uncommon for non-gamers or painters to do. They were interested in the story not the game and that was fine. It's this new hyper sexual and hyper commercial focus that has done so much damage to our circles. Much of this comes from a lack of moderation on the larger influences online. When Warseer and Dakka dakka started to decline in favour of /tg/ and then reddit the moderators let more degenerates in and didn't remove problem posters. Boomers are on facebook with terminally online troons trying to insert themselves into communities and getting ignored for the most part. It's hard to tell how the facebook groups really feel because no one wants to lose their facebook account for saying fuck off to a troon and they usually don't post any troony stuff there (that goes on reddit). You get the usual whining about lack of women or women not being welcomed enough but any thing actively political has the boomers making fun of it and saying delete it, it's politics and doesn't belong there. Anything race related gets it hard. You see cucks painting black dwarves in their units now which is annoying, always badly painted and you get a few ass kissers but nothing big.

It's a problem in tabletop spaces. Most people in them are hardcore right and can't say it, passive and just want to grill or they're progressives who just want to grill and try to keep it to themselves. As bad as the big companies are the hobby can be saved very easily. It would only take 1 major games company to tell them to fuck off and make a stand with a big enough fanbase and the functional people would be on board and leaving all this behind on Reddit. As strong as GW's grip on tabletop gaming is, they're constantly rotating their audience and relying on whales. They have been on the rocks and been saved by their opponents fucking up but it doesn't have to happen again. 3D printing won't kill them, they will carry on shambling the same way Disney does but it's not hard for another system to pick up ex GW players and start converting their audience. X wing already did it until it killed it's self as well. GW only stay top dog as long as nothing better comes along and we've seen lots of better things replace 40k for a time then self destruct when a new 40k edition comes out saving them.

but they'd just ban you from every community space and not let you in tournaments, while a tranny making five hour long essays whining about every aspect would get asspats, promoted by the algorithm and invited by the company to give a seminar in how they can do better.

The backlash against pandering to these people is outweighted by the benefits the brand gets, Wotc is in a similar position, they can get away with pissing off all their core audience because now they have 40% female demographic buying their latest editions (if you believe their own data) and a bunch of gay theater kids replacing the old nerds. People who want more gay romance options, furrys and more woke changes to the lore are more welcomed than old fans mad about those things

Reactions: The Lawgiver
DnD was always a lost cause. It was mainstream in the 80s in America and wasn't some small niche thing people like to larp it was today. It sold extremely well and was big enough to get TV series and movies based on it. We always called DnD players fags and they haven't changed much with critical roll. Just more of them now.

Women moved into board games more than MTG or miniatures. They're still really rare outside of the token girlfriend

May I lighten the mood by noting a hobby that ruined the fandom?

Morrissey. His fanbase of vegan lefty balloon knots asserted for years that National Front Disco was satire. Now we know he's a full blown alt-lite boomer. Thanks Moz.
My oldest sister was a HUGE Morrissey fan from back in The Smiths days... big fan of that whole 90's British invasion, and now I'm ironically the bigger The Smiths/Morrissey fan.

Online stuff and fandoms are dead, I lament them somewhat.
Every time I see people mention this, I think of this article and how the internet has increasingly sped up the cycle of "New Thing" to "subculture" to hollowing out by a plague of locusts. It's been years, but people seem to be getting hip to the idea of gatekeeping and "be[ing] slightly evil".

Especially social media. That really put this process into maximum overdrive. The problem is... how do you even gatekeep people who have massive backing? I mean it's obvious in many cases who the bad people are... but they are organized and just invade your stuff because it's there for the taking.

The N word. It is said to be the strongest word of the English language, capable of making others insane to the point where they'll burn cities to the ground. No amount of money can defeat the N word "No". Also make it "tahhxic" the modern sensibilities and use their complaints as free marketing
