It looks like we're getting the worst possible option: a show that's objectively decent, with a rabid fanbase of adults that have nothing else going on in their lives. Just like My Little Pony. We're gonna need a catchy name for Hellaversers because they're gonna get their own documentaries and conventions before it's over. And it's all gonna be just as gay.
As I mentioned before, it is very mediocre as Hell. Not groundbreaking like people thought it would be five years ago. It's not going to be anything like MLP though, since you don't need to have been part of the "fanbase" to understand what's going on. It would be interesting to see someone watching it for the first time with no knowledge of it. Maybe I could convince my sister to at least check out the first episode when it comes out on Prime since she is what would be considered an average viewer of media.

Maybe I just have weird standards but I actually really enjoyed it. Yeah some of the dialogue was iffy and the animation in some parts was...weird and I definitely much prefered some old voice actors like Kovach. But in general it did 't feel too different from what I expected and I feel like the quality is much higher than helluva boss in general (not that I disliked it). But you can feel that the budget is much higher.

But yeah I am worried some parts could get rushed. Lots of storylines to finish. But honestly the Alastor/Vox parts was a major highlight of the episode. Or every part with Vox in it.

That being said, I've watched the pilot many times, read the comics and external stuff etc. If I came in completely new, it makes it a bit jarring. But if you watch the pilot before this it really helps. Honestly they should just reaninate the pilot with the new va and change some stuff around as an "episode 0" that would help a lot.

Overall I am very much looking forward to watching the rest. And as someone who has seen actual trainwrecks like homestuck/hiveswap shenanigans, this is leagues ahead anything they could ever accomplish. Call me a Viv white knight but I feel like she gets way too much unecesssry hate. But she def needs to stop responsing to everything.

Episode 2 was definitely better than episode 1. But I found both to be solid like 8/10. But then again I've read homosuck like 5 times so my standards are a bit warped.
I'm waiting for the official release to watch it, but yeah I'm just going to be honest I like what I've seen so far too. I think what Viv has planned has potential to be good. The whole divine beings not being as good as they claim to be really speaks to me. That and as an edge Lord yeah its not surprising Viv's work would appeal to a nut job like me.

Uh huh...

uh oh

UH OH

but seriously, I don't think it could ever get as invasive and evangelical as bronies got. I do think that every freak who's down bad for something to obsess over in a group is going to disappear into this the same way every autism-adjacent male 18-34 disappeared into Equestria. The only question is how many freaks we're dealing with. I suspect the number is high. It's been high enough to keep HB going on youtube free to watch, so who's to say it couldn't sustain the whole IP for a decade?

tits or gtfo
In all seriousness, as an ex-fan of the show (I was a neo-tumblrite in 2019-20 sue me) it's kind of sad seeing Viv leave everything this show behind just to appeal to the larger furry community. I hope someone beats her with a big rock for it

See, that's the thing. There will no doubt be at least a niche that "disappears" into Hell, but will it have the same cultural impact as say, a lot of the juggernauts from 2010-2015? Right now, I doubt it. We won't know for certain until the episodes drop, the public at large sees them, and decides for themselves whether or not "Sweary mcSex Land" is worth getting invested in.

Vaggie’s voice has NO range. She was so much more dynamic in the pilot. Now she just sounds like a no nonsense stiff with a stuffy nose. Sir Pentious has the same issue with no dynamic-ness like he had in the pilot

I kinda expected Val to sound a little more flamboyant/sexy.

Adam was insufferable until his song.

Didn’t get any laughs from me but glad to see Alastor and that his VA is pretty good,

Husker's VA is such a terrible fit. I don't even mind that VA but it doesn't fit Husker. Katie Killjoy is ruined by her VA, her original had the judgmental female done perfectly and now how can she judge anyone when she sounds like a man?
Most of the characters just sound like poorer imitations of the original VA like Angel Dust, Vaggie, Sir Pentious and even Alastaor to a lesser extent. Valentine's VA can't decide whether he wants to have a crappy, fake accent or not and his accent doesn't even match Angel Dust's, which you think it would as his dad. It ruins his ominous aura from the music video Addict.
I hope someone uses AI to dub the show with the original VAs.

Unlike some of the horrible choices for VA replacements, you can't really blame Vivz for that one, since Stamper is a total fucking wreck these days (and said he wouldn't reprise his role anyway).

LOL, Viv surely backed the right horse in Amazon haha

Archiving episode 1 directly here. They don't try and reintroduce the cast much, so the pilot can be presumed canon.

>Lore is "GoD iS bAD! CHrIStIANiTy BaD! SaTaN wUz ThE GoOd gUy dA WhOLe tImE!!!!!!1111"
>Adam is a sexist bigot, Satan is a cuck and Lilith is a total girlboss.

It's so fucking tiresome.

Lolwut
Valentino is not Angel Dust’s dad, he’s just his pimp. Angel’s dad is called Henroin but it’s anyone’s guess as to if he’ll even show up or got scrapped.

I do hope that the show addresses later on the fact that Charlie doesn't seem understand what redemption is. Right now, she doesn't seem to know why someone like Angel is in Hell at the first place and why Adam and Lute consider sinners a lost cause.

Do you guys think that the sinners past ever get explored? It would be weird having this kind of premise without ever adressing what kind of behaviour brought them to Hell in the first place.

To be expected from a creator who doesn't understand anything about Christian theology at all, or deliberately misunderstands/strawmans it because she's got a chip on her shoulder when it comes to religion.

I don't think the show will address it, because it's clear Vivzie understands it just as poorly as Charlie does.

You mean in more than just the supplemental material? Angel Dust was a gay prostitute and gangster in life, I'm pretty sure Vaggie was also a hooker in life, Alastor was a serial killer in life, etc.

Virtually any behavior seems morally acceptable or redeemable, except being a meanie judgemental bigoted chud.

I know I'm late to the conversation, but why did they drop the original voice actors from the pilot?
Because Vivz would rather pal around with Broadway people. She said it was union stuff, which was plausible under the circumstances, but Michael Kovach more or less stated that was a lie and that at least he had been willing to jump through the hoops of union membership.
The short and simple answer is that Viv wanted Broadway talent.
And somehow managed to find people who are dreadful in comparison to the originals.
