1. The organization that selected him to "host" asked him for something (a slideshow, notes, presentation), Pat showed up thinking he could just wing it, and either bombed spectacularly or they just said "Sorry, we clearly asked for xyz and you didn't bring it".
2. He "pregamed" a little bit too hard and they smelled booze on his breath, and asked him not to present. He has been known to imbibe inappropriate amounts of alcohol before some of these get-togethers (see: the Spaghetti Factory incident)
