Coach was released on the orders of the US government. He was given a new identity and a comfortable life somewhere in Chile. Tucker Carlson was fed misinformation about Coach's death so Tucker would spread it to his audience of inquisitive free thinkers, to make sure nobody will doubt that Coach is dead and reveal the truth.
Biden graciously accepts the fallout but knows that he did the right thing.

You generally get consular assistance even if you did undeniably break the law. It doesn't necessarily keep you out of jail, but could improve your conditions or make sure you get legal aid if they're fucking with you. I have no doubt they made a deliberate decision not to lift a finger for this guy.

And I think he was a retard and an asshole who brought this on himself, but with the billions upon billions of dollars we're giving these corrupt cunts, they should treat even our fucking reject retards with kid gloves.

I mean, this IS a former Soviet Republic. The Powers that be probably told the guards to treat Lira with kid gloves. Which they took to mean just leave him alone in the corner and forget about him, as opposed to administering a daily beating and throwing him into General Population with the rest of the inmates who were looking foreword to meet the foreign sex tourist.

He believed Kharkiv would be called Kharkov and the throne piece of the Kharkov Oblast as part of the Russian Federation. He put his money where his mouth was and sat in his apartment expecting to be under the tricolor in a week's time. That didn't happen, and now he's dead. Meanwhile, I left Ukraine in 2019 because I thought Zelenskyy was provoking a war. Coach should have not considered himself a geopolitical expert.

That is probably the thing I would be mad about as an murican.
The support Ukraine has gotten in military aid and humanitarian aid from all of Europe and the US is tremendous, they should probably afford foreign nationals from their supporting countries with overwhelming courtesy.
They could have just deported the idiot and sat him in the next flight to Berlin or something. After he got in trouble, he desperately WANTED to leave.
His crime was nonviolent and didn't really harm them, indeed, imprisoning him made them look worse and they knew he would be in danger in any facility they put him in.
Just getting him out of the country and barring him from reentry as a russki-sympathizer would have been the best solution for everyone involved,
