But we have laws and the laws necessitate that we draw the boundary somewhere, even when it's somewhat arbitrary. - US is not the only one country on the planet; countries in the EU often have 16 or even lower as the age of consent
- it's obvious that adolescents can consent at 16 (and younger) simply by taking notice of the crazy amounts of sex going on ad that age.

I think you're missing my point a little bit. Yes, we live in a highly sexualized world and we're all the worse off for it. I didn't necessarily mean a literal erection, though - my point was that your average man will find it sexually appealing. It can be suspicious. In some cases I think this is just the autistic search for consistency, which (as you have implied in your other posts) you're never really going to find in law because it's not possible. I am just guessing at what their motivations were, though - I can't speak for anyone.
