I know its because of a lack of streaming but can we talk about Nick mostly being able to get through sober january? We're almost back to pre-Balldo levels of slow on the thread too. If it weren't for his upcoming financial situation guaranteeing a spergout, i'd say he's having an amazing cool down from his LOTY win. 16 pages in 72 hours is a crawl, the slowest its been since July, If i were Nick i'd triple down. Sober January becomes the Sober Lent. As long as the Rumble situation works out well enough he can keep this up until his mandatory hard relapse in April.

He keeps being "normal" then he can keep the clippers away, which means the commentary guys vanish too, then the investigative reporters stop trying to follow up leads as well. Suddenly he starts finding the time and motivation to start following trials again and then he's recovering a small bit of his reputation.

Almost 2 years ago Ralph descended so far into degeneracy that he got felted by an anime rabbit. Now we have Nick getting felted by an anime fox.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
He's been felted by the anime rabbit too.
And the fox too.

Balldo is a cross-dimension laughing stock. You have .pngTubers, comic artists, (practicing) lawyers and various other smaller communities laughing at him.
Such is life.

He also brought up Ninja Resurrection and said it was "his favorite anime", which I'm pretty sure was a joke. It's really trashy and has lots of blood and guts and silly shit like praying to Jesus to turn into a dragon. So I think Nick was into anime at some point in his life, since this was R-rated shit you'd pick up at the video store in 1999.
I wouldn't be surprised if nick found it randomly while drunk at a walmart in a dvd bin during the early 2000s. It was really easy to come across anime without proper distribution (or illegally distributed) in big box stores. I still own some weird episode compilation DVDs of kimba the white lion and some mecha series from there.

It has its place in the genre, but it was the shovelware of anime back when it was more difficult to get access to anything newer. It was the first tape you received if you ever subscribed to one of those video distribution services. The soundtrack was OK though (for the time).

Yeah, it was usually either that or Akira.

Akira held up much better.

If Nick were going on and on about Ninja Scroll, he'd just be a boomer who watched an anime once.

Him going on and on about Redo of Healer is just plain weird and creepy though.
I'm gonna disagree with your shitty anime takes. Ninja scroll is the anime adaptation of a very famous samurai-horror novel and also movie Makai Tensho and the anime is actually a lot more closer to the novel than the movie. It is so popular that a lot of Japanese revenge horror stories now uses a lot of elements from the novel/movie/anime. In fact, SNK basically copied Makai Tensho to make the game Samurai Shodown

But fuck me, he's unwatchable now.
He's terribly behind on everything as well. He has been doing updates in the situation of the hoodrat mayor from that Chicago suburb, like two weeks ago just mentioned she got arrested. "She FINALLY got arrested!" He said. I looked it up and it happened in fucking SEPTEMBER, with her being found guilty in November.
he only cares about anime if it has
1. Robots
2. Ninjas
3. Ninja shaped robots
I'm surprised he hasn't been raving about G-Gundam since it's literally just "WWE Robots with ninjas and ninja robots".

Outside of maybe Jim Metokur and Sam Hyde, is there any content creators that actually got big solely off of their personality? They all seem to have a central theme and eventually they have to either transition to a new one or pull an Idubz and fail to do so

Still about the content though. If Metokur streamed bitching about his health problems or medical bills people wouldn’t listen. And even that would be better than balldo & gay sex talk.

I know its because of a lack of streaming but can we talk about Nick mostly being able to get through sober january?

There has been a lack of streaming & not drinking on camera isn’t the same as being sober. He starts late, wraps up early & takes extended breaks at the Rumble flip that are much longer than taking a piss should be.
Since he cancelled Wednesday for “date night” with Kayla, & did only a 89 mins on Thurs from the Steel Toe morning show studio because they were all going out afterwards it can be assumed he spent two days partying in the cities. Also he said he was going to “try” to do a day show yesterday but was likely too hung over or something. Not sure why no night show or if he announced why not.

The SEC has an open investigation into Rumble.

There's a thread discussing it here.

Of particular interest to this thread is this part (from a WIRED article):

In April 2023, investment research firm Culper Research released a report expressing skepticism about the legitimacy of Rumble’s claimed monthly active user (MAU) counts, a key metric for investors to evaluate the performance of a social media company. Culper Research said it had taken a short position in Rumble, meaning it stands to profit if Rumble’s stock price decreases.

“Combined, the web and app data suggest to us that Rumble has only 38 to 48 million unique users, and the Company has overstated its user base by 66% to 108%,” Culper Research claimed in its report.

I know a lot of people here are gonna say this is being done because it's an election year, and that may be true, but I also think Rumble's numbers are fucky in a way that could be engineered to try and make the site seem more successful than it is, and defraud investors. They're not mutually exclusive.

The other news item, that I'm sure many of you have already seen, is CRP is dead. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere involving Rekieta sending Bitcoin assassins to stop CRP from talking about Kayla and Warski at Road Rage.

I've been doing some research recently into Rumble and their financials and shit. Aside from any possible sketchiness with the MAU's, it was the Estimated Minutes Watched Per Month (MWPM), that struck me as being potentially fucky. From their Q3 2023 Report:

Estimated MWPM is calculated by converting actual bandwidth consumption into minutes watched, using our management’s best estimate of video resolution quality mix and various encoding parameters. We continually seek to improve our best estimates based on our observations of creator and user behavior on the Rumble platform, which changes based on the introduction of new product features, including livestreaming. We are currently limited, however, in our ability to collect data from certain aspects of our systems while we improve our measurement capabilities. These limits may result in errors that are difficult to quantify, especially as the proportion of livestreaming on the Rumble platform increases over time, and as we improve the quality of various video formats by increasing bit rates, until we are able to measure MWPM directly. Bandwidth consumption includes video traffic across the entire Rumble platform (website, apps, embedded video, connected TV, etc.), as well as what our management believes is a nominal amount of non-video traffic, and a nominal amount of traffic from customers hosted on Rumble’s infrastructure, and an unknown amount of consumption of Rumble videos outside of the Rumble video player.
We believe the decline from the second quarter of 2023 is due to several factors, including: many popular content creators taking time off during the summer; users consuming less content when popular content creators are inactive; and a portion of our bandwidth consumption moving from third-party service providers’ content delivery networks ("CDNs”) to our own proprietary CDN in the second half of the quarter. Based on preliminary testing, our own CDN indicates less bandwidth consumption than our service providers’ CDN for comparable user activity. Because we calculate estimated MWPM by converting bandwidth consumption into minutes watched, consumption measured through our own CDN yields a lower estimated MWPM, than when measured through our service providers’ CDNs.
Yeah, this doesn't sound dodgy as fuck or anything.

Can anyone think of any remotely legitimate reason they can't count the minutes people watch by. . .you know, just counting the minutes people watch? Sounds like something even a pajeet off fiverr could manage.
The only thing I can think of is that they're including VOD views to pad the numbers and their player works like the old youtube one and buffers the whole vod if it can download it significantly faster than you can watch it. Even that might be a stretch, given how analytics-heavy those companies are I've got no doubt they're recording viewtime as well as probably page scroll and current audio volume among other things.

They might also be thrown a little due to podcast people. Odysee (and I'm pretty sure Rumble as well) will serve you RSS feeds per channel and most good podcast clients are smart enough to grab the entire vod attached to them, so that's bandwidth use equivalent to a person watching every single stream produced by the channel.

It's also worth noting that RSS trick is the one reliable way to get mad at the internet in podcast form when the normal RSS feed is messed up.

The only thing I can think of is that they're including VOD views
I am too lazy and tired to search(snow sucks) but i have a screenshot of a Crowder stream having like 10k views before it even started and was preroll video only. They were counting weird shit as views. I chock it up to shitty systems but if they are actively fudging the numbers they are truly retarded.

I took certain wording as revealing that they lack that functionality currently for whatever reason. "...until we are able to measure MWPM directly." That seems a tacit admission that they cannot directly measure MWPM at that point. "These limits may result in errors that are difficult to quantify..." is another key quote.

Nick's comments about the legitimacy of Rumble's numbers are already aging like milk.

It's pretty frustrating that every video/livestreaming site that tries to sell itself as an alternative to youtube always does some stupid or sketchy shit. They should know the oligarchs and feds will be gunning them by default so it's doubly bad to be that sloppy.
I honestly think it's a fundamental problem from the get-go, wanting to be a Youtube "alternative" for "no-no speech" already puts you in a stupid position both against the powers that be and to entice growth.

Just make a fucking video platform, mentioning your competitor as the reason you exist to begin with is fucking idiotic; I don't want to hear about what your platform isn't and doesn't do, I want to hear what is unique about it and see it stand on its own.

Marketing as "Youtube but with freeze peach" is quite possibly the absolute worst move you can make in current year, the well has been poisoned enough that by doing so you will turn off any audience who leans left as they know that only the other side of the spectrum even needs an alt-site with that caveat in mind, everyone else doesn't give a shit about freeze peach in particular and cuckservatives will not risk even the possibility of associating with fringe weirdos, so it turns into a self-fulfilling prophecy of a platform for schizophrenic fringe retards. Then your only hope is trying to slowly rebrand as you burn millions after millions hiring has-been streamers and creators so maybe, MAYBE the people who don't give a shit about politics check your site out.

And if you're Rumble then once they check your site out the app shits itself and they can't find anything to watch, riveting.

In conclusion, the kind of person who starts those to begin with seems completely and thoroughly unable to grasp simple concepts that would be taught as marketing 101 for absolute imbeciles so here we are, on a perpetual cycle of 3-5 years between each platform imploding once they realize their genius plan didn't quite work out and now investors are asking questions, or worse yet, the government is asking questions.

At this point I would not be surprised if the next one that gets shat out into the world uses "Real freedom of speech in alt-youtube has never been tried" as their tagline.

That sounds reasonable in theory, but in practice I think they would still be viewed as a threat and treated the same way even if they didn't advertise themselves that way, especially post-COVID when there's a concerted government and private sector effort to tamp down on specific types of unapproved information wherever it may be. In some ways not clarifying your position from the start is just asking to be bombarded by all sorts of assorted activist niggers causing problems and pretending they're doing so for politically neutral reasons. Though this is a complicated issue in general so there's no effective one-size-fits-all approach to the problem.

My guess is there is an issue with bandwidth served (which is easily measurable) versus minutes watched, which would take some extra coding and overhead to sort out. From what Josh has said wrt MatI, the numbers aren't that off if you take into account people watching the preroll (which is stupid and could be considered fraud) and the hangover of a live viewer (they're counted as live viewing for 1 hr after watching for ~10 seconds).

We don't know if the Balldo bounce (and now deflation/thud) is from being him featured on the front page (which seems to be manually set by someone), or from Rumble juicing the numbers for their contracted "talent". Edit for this paragraph to add: Honestly, if they wanted to inflate the numbers of their talent, so as not to embarrass them, it'd be better to do that contracted out to bot companies via an intermediary. Then your in-house business is clean.

I am sure there are ways to measure watch time cleanly (excepting things like rss, direct downloads, etc.), but Rumble didn't have a static live key for streams until last month. That tells me their code base is solid, nor their current team that skilled. I'm inclined to believe the numbers issue is a tech debt they have just never paid, and now it's biting them in the ass because the opposition is in power, and it's an election year. The D's did this last cycle as well-heck, they're still trying to fuck around with Truth, and no one uses that except for Orange Man Dick Riders.

Last edit to add: I'm still inclined to believe this is incompetence on Rumble's part, rather than malice.

I am sure he will do something exceptional eventually. The Balldo waxes and wanes. It gives me the time to work on the OP re-write.

He supposedly is streaming today because of things that came up:

How do you NOT KNOW your parents are visiting?

Also, I love LOCALS for adding timestamps.

Or it's just a lie to justify failure to disclose accurate information they're legally required to submit.

If the SEC really is looking into them, they think there's something fucky.

Why not both?
