Apollo Legend committed suicide. He left a note blaming a few members of the speedrunning community but he didn't mention Billy Mitchell in it.

I forget 100%, but basically billy either threatened to sue him or was in the process of serving him, and rather than fight it like Jobst, he settled, with the conditions being that he remove all videos on billy and stopped talking about him. entirely as part of the settlement. Then he killed himself, though it probably had nothing to do with Mitchell.

Damn, I was hoping that Silly Bitchell gets a divine smackdown in the TG lolsuit, but jobst manages to fuck up the lolsuit against him enough to hand Billy the win, but this is basically the exact opposite.

Yeah, the guy had some other stuff going on apparently. Including some childhood trauma, a failed attempt at a GDQ alternative, and beefs with other speed runners.

I'm sure the shit with Mitchell didn't help, but I am not sure you can really say "Billy killed Apollo."

Billy Mitchells lawyer begging for mercy after dick out, shamelessly suing literally everyone at the behest of his boomer heliocentric, narcissistic client would be so out of left field, I desperately wanted to believe it. Hard to believe a New Hampshire retro arcade has spawned so much insane internet lore and multiple documentaries and still manages to float after what should have been decades of reputational damages. Atari should have sued by now. I remember winning a toaster in there once when I was 13. It was only 2300 tickets.

That wasn't Mitchell's attorney begging for mercy, that was Twin Galaxy's lawyer (the people Mitchell is suing).

Correction of another error in the thread:

Mitchell's hot sauce manufacturing company was established and built up by his father.

It is his by inheritance, and the biggest managerial decision Mitchell ever made was putting labels with a monkey decal on the bottles to sell as "souvenirs of the King of Kong film" at gaming conventions.

(Some people ITT seemed to think that Mitchell built this thing from the ground up)
