Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Yeah. Like, I'm not baffled that there are people who'd think this way, they're just boilerplate meanspirited waifufaggots, I'm baffled that there are so many of them in the god damn Pokemon fandom of all places. Maybe I shouldn't be. I absolutely hate that Pokemon decided to produce a plot that would bring them all out of the woodwork. What happened to friendship and shit, why is there a weird cuckold-bullying storyline in my baby games?
Especially since we're talking about kids here, I assume Carmine is in her early/mid teens. Still a lot of odd people talking fucking the sister and Ogerpon and making Kieran watch and it's so very odd.

I actually like Kieran, and I find his plot interesting. Like he's basically fighting against the plot in an almost literal way as he struggles accepting that the player character is indeed the MC and everything revolves around him/her. Also the scene where Terapagos very blatantly saw the MC and was about to instantly befriend him/her which prompts Kieran to sperg out and catch it in a Master Ball is one of my favorite scenes in the entire franchise. He really tried to nip that shit in the bud.

age sperg: carmine guesses kierans main character syndrome is due to 'teen angst' which means he's probably at least 13, carmine is pretty tall though and she seems older to me like 17-ish. this is also the most autistic and questionable thing i have ever written on this website.

They shoved Pecharunt's backstory into a 5-minute Youtube short...

God, giving lore to anything but box legendaries is so cringe. Literally who gives a shit, it will likely just spend most of it's life sitting in my PC, and if not the only use it has is in competitive. You really think I will be reflecting on it's life story as I'm battling someone over the internet?

Kieran makes some sense if you think that to him, we’re the Asshole Rival Character of Early Gens, only unlike said Rivals he just can’t beat us.

And honestly considering how Ogerpon went straight to us, him seeing Terapagos about to do the exact same thing and just instantly throwing a Master Ball at it made me laugh.

I think this is just an overcorrection - remember Zarude? Yeah no one does, but I think they just wanted to give Pecharunt some backstory rather than “btw have a Mythical”.

Still stupid, but I can somewhat respect it.

Now I just have to go and make this little bastard as tanky as possible and annoy people with its Ability…

So hold on, the most important characters(or ones that are most memorable/have most interactions) are some donutsteel characters from a DLC, not anyone from the main plot?
What was the point of it, then? Why not just make the main story revolve around the two and their stupid pokemon, like in Sun/Moon? Would still have been better than the "story" of the main game. Area Zero is the only thing of note in the entirety of it and even then that place(like everything else in the game) is laughably unoptimized

I only know what I've read from this thread, but isn't this also Barry/Cheren/Hau?

You can't tell a super-serious story like this when you've given the characters such ludicrous names. I don't know if the localizers knew about all this when they named them, but perhaps they shouldn't have given them such stupid names in the first place?

Honestly yeah - the more the series has tried to make the Rival characters into your friends, the more your Character comes off as the Asshole Rival who just casually stomps them.

It's completely unintentional, I'm sure, but it's funny. Makes me miss OG Blue and Silver more, tbh...

It sounds like it could be GF making a kneejerk reaction to fans that want "more mature" stories with the games, and how some fans say that fan-made ROMs have much better stories, just because they have edgy and "mature" things such as cuckolding. Or maybe someone at GF has a cuckolding fetish, given that cheating/NTR is a common thing in Japanese media (I think).
It definitely feels like they're tacking on "mature" things without understanding how to actually use them. Like, Pecharunt is a murderer apparently, but its own storyline is it making people do the chicken dance ha ha funny, but Ogerpon still gets angy at it for fucking murder. Same in Arceus, where it goes all "oh we'll send you out into the field where if you fail you DIE" and the worst you get on that mission is a mildly angy Shinx. And people just shlorped that shlop up like it was ambrosia even though the entire setting makes no damn sense (people lived alongside Pokemon so closely they married and shit according to the Sinnoh library books, but barely a few hundred years ago they were confused and afraid... sure jan. If Pokemon were capable of wiping out humanity they would have done it already, but the le edgy interpretation of the franchise is that a Magkarp could kill you with Splash or some shit)

I'm entirely sure the guy who designed Tsareena and Salazzle was inserting fetishes into the game, so why not this too. GF needs a purge.

Also that stupid Pecha short doesn't fix any of the plot holes in Teal Mask, so that's nice.

I just rolled my eyes when they kept threatening the PC with banishment. It became quickly clear that the town would be under 2' of water in like a week if I wasn't there to turn their faucets off for them. When you actually do get banished, whatshername mentions that social cohesion was already breaking down after just a few days. Kamado was probably about a month away from getting coup'd what with him getting increasingly paranoid and his lieutenants already maliciously-compliant (Cyllene).

TL:DR Jublife Village's inhabitants are a bunch of useless retards and constantly threatening the player just made them seem more pathetic.

Oh great, that sounds even dumber than I thought it would be. It's like Gamefreak now only knows how to make stories ""mature"" by making everyone in them either stupid or an asshole, then making the MC some mary sue who's the only one non-retarded enough to fix everything. I hate it.

Makes me wonder what horrors we'll encounter when a Legends Kyurem is actually released, current GF cringe combined with N's ancestors who are probably as insufferable as him in BW sounds like something I'd absolutely enjoy while suffering through shoddy controls.

N wasn't even that bad, he wasn't supposed to be right, he was brainwashed by Plasma and he was able to expand his view of the world by the end. I'm definitely expecting much worse now though.

Anyway, here's this cool laundry list of reasons the "true" ogre story doesn't make sense:

- The townspeople had never seen the trio before finding their corpses, and they were so enamored as to deify them? How are they "loyal" when they just showed up one day and immediately died?
- The peachmon was there that day as well (shown in the flashback) and apparently not forgotten (the plush at that lady's shop), but it's role in the story of the town's most precious heroes is just never mentioned. Why not? Don't tell me it's "preserving the myyystery", it makes no sense in-universe.
- The trio wanted the masks enough to kill... why? For the crystals? Couldn't they just go to the pond? Did they target anyone else the maskmaker made masks for?
- The ogre and its trainer were walking around the town with their new masks on and everyone admired them, but like a day later they see the ogre wearing one of the masks from a distance and are scared and confused... the fuck? I could understand the story becoming more twisted with time, but why would the ogre be turned away from the town immediately?
- The cave is supposed to be uncomfortable for anything large to be living in- Kieran telling you that seems like foreshadowing that the ogre is actually smol. But according to this story the ogre's big trainer was living in the cave himself... how? And also fucking why?
- At the end the ogre goes back to the cave alone and sad... who was there to see that? Actually, how did anyone know about this "true" story? And if just anyone could have seen what really happened, how did the false story end up being accepted?

Furthermore, we're told this right after being told not to believe the one story just because it's what people tell, but we're expected to believe this story just because someone told it to us. Okay.

And Teal Mask in general:

- How did Kieran revive the three with a punch? If the three were beloved heroes and it was so easy to revive them, you'd think someone would have tried it before... or done it by accident.
- Why is Carmine such a fucking cunt? Is it just supposed to be cute and funny? She's clearly happy to lie to Kieran about Ogerpon with any reasons given being an afterthought. Why the fuck are we supposed to side with her? Why is she not responsible for pulling this shit but Kieran is responsible for reacting badly to it?
- What the fuck were that circle pattern and giant metal plate about and why were they in the Treasures trailer?

Apparently the only one of these the Pecha short addresses (I can't be fucked to watch it) is why the trio wanted the masks, which is the least of the story's problems and still makes no sense. It's not anything to do with the masks themselves, nothing special about them, it's because some other assholes the next town over thought they were neat, that they had to get those specific masks so desperately they'd kill for them. That's fucking stupid. They've made it less interesting and worthwhile than when we didn't fucking know anything.

I am entirely convinced there was some original plan that got scrapped halfway through any everything after that is just random shit slapped together as fast as possible. Like, the Teal Mask ogre story has the perfect setup for the sobstory being some shit somebody made up, neither story being true, neither side is just a villain, and the real truth was somewhere in the middle, then they do another reveal that Carmine is the real villain of the story for bullying Kieran (not that you can "reveal" something that's that blatantly obvious). You could have an absolutely KINO heartwarming story where this poor kid gets to stand up to his bullies alongside the characters from his favorite fairy tale, where he was projecting a desire to be saved onto the ogre but once the truth of the story is revealed the other truth about himself and Carmine comes out. Hell they could have had two ogres and had the nonsensical ogre sobstory come from trying to apply the sad ogre to the other one's story, it'd fit perfectly and that way everyone could have an ogre without this retarded "hurrr durr he's a nice guy incel for not immediately giving up durrr" bullshit. But instead we get this dogshit because some writer got waifufag brainrot or some shit, so they have to pretend the kid who was right all along and who was clearly being treated like shit is actually the bad guy somehow and needs to be beat down further than he already is. Fucking hell.

I'm not buying this pro-ogre anti-Pecha propaganda. Gamefreak should be bullied until they release whatever the Snyder cut of this game is. Or if they won't do it I'll make it myself.

You really have to understand that many, hell most, people don't really think about things like this. If a character is "cool and badass" enough (usually on the protagonist's side) fans will justify or ignore anything. I have seen comment sections on stories where the protagonist or protagonist ally being a rapist was A-OK.

Remember when you had Mew, and he HAD no lore until that movie everyone saw? Even then, the lore was "it came from South America and gave(literally?) birth to Mewtwo. The two fight in the movie". The interesting stories were about HOW you obtained, all the ridiculous methods like finding it under the truck and many other schoolyard rumors. In-game, it's actually easiest to encounter it while using a glitch, which also lets you encounter an even more interesting Pokemon: Missingno and 'M. I remember reading fun fan fiction about those back in the day on TRs Rockin'(RIP), all that sounded way more interesting than this cringefest, and Mew is still a better mythical/legendary(as are most of them)

To me, it sounds like somebody at GF wants to be a writer, but they were cursed working on Pokemon until the end of their career. This is the best they can come up with, and most they can do with the setting. Even Gen 8, where the story was literally unfinished or cut out and makes no god damn sense, was better than this shit because at least then you still have the "pokemon journey" of traveling around the region. Gen 9 doesn't have a story, it became a generic open world soulless slop with objective markers and pointless side quests that make up the "story".

What a cursed franchise, depending on how you view it, the franchise's writing either peaked with Gen 2's simple story that focused heavily on it's setting and the previous title's baddies, Gen 5 for trying to actually have characters and a serious plot, or Gen 7 because it actually HAD characters that mattered thru out it's entirety. None of those are actually good, just passable(especially compared to this)

Edit: For reference, this guy covered every story from gen 1-7 back to back. Give it a go if you have a few hours spare:
...now compare it to his take on gen 8
...and 9
The bar was never high to begin with, but the fact that it got low enough for people to notice is quite something. Note that we're ignoring the actual quality of these games, which is a whole another topic all together

If anything that's all the more reason for Pokemon specifically to make sure she's called out on it. Pokemon is a franchise for kids and it should be teaching them good lessons about how to be a decent person, not that the world is divided into people who get to be assholes and people who deserve to be shat on for all eternity.

then they do another reveal that Carmine is the real villain of the story for bullying Kieran (not that you can "reveal" something that's that blatantly obvious).
Carmine is concerned about her brother because she knows he is a massive bitch and will react badly to the truth about the ogre. And guess what, she was right. Kieran didn't know the truth about the ogre and still identified with it. I repeat, Kieran identified with a murderous, monster pokemon. It was just a coincidence that the ogre turned out to not be evil, but that doesn't change the fact that Kieran is a fucking murderer-worshipping dweeb.

The problem is, we don't really get much of a feel that Kieran's obsessed about Ogerpon to the point that she and their gramps needed to hide the info from him. I'd understand if for example we get to see his room in-game and it's plastered with ogre paraphernalia or some shit, but just by in-game information alone, the other characters' insistence on keeping him in the dark is just illogical.

An exceptional question:

How ould you redo the story of the whole game, whether that be the main game, the Teal Mask, the Indigo Disk, and th epilogue?
I would cancel the games entirely and start from scratch. The only thing of note this game has is the paradox pokemon and area zero, everything else gets thrown in the trash and we start over.
And really, the paradox pokemon/area zero is just a rehash of ultra beasts/ultra wormholes anyways, so it's not really that much of a praise
