Are there really Asians out there today that are okay with being lumped in with pajeets? Do they just not have a choice in their work setting? I've been hearing for years about real Asians wanting to be referred to as "Oriental" again just to escape association with the middle eastern trash who've been trying to finagle language to escape the stigmatized identity they've earned.

I think you're missing the point. Men build grand churches to impress other humans with their wealth. (Just look at the two groups who built them.) Jesus isn't impressed by wealth; he was friends with the poorest of the poor, preached outside, whipped bankers like a badass and built humble things. Jesus is a direct extension of God. Cathedrals are not purely tributes to God, they are first and foremost monuments of man's hubris. European whites live lives of monetary hubris that grossly exceed their white American counterparts, and it shows in the Europeans' casual, mainstream obsession with veblen goods. Many Americans stigmatize that by labeling it as "hood rich".

Hearing a European gloat about cathedrals to an American is living poetry.

This isn't really deliberately messing with language to dodge stigmatization, it's just being British. India is in Asia and it's where Britain gets the vast majority of it's immigration from the continent from, being a former colony and all. America got more of the east Asians than the south Asians, so the American perception of the word is more skewed towards China/Korea/Japan/islands than places like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc. The split is pronounced enough that the phrase "British Asian" is recognized as meaning south Asian.

I disagree. Men will patronize the construction of grand cathedrals as a sign of wealth and philanthropy, leaders have done similar things throughout human history and I don't even think that's bad--it depends entierly on the inwardly motive of the person who gives out the funds. However, the reason the people build great things in and of itself, the very desire to do that in the first place, is as a form of veneration. The Wise Men gave Christ gold and myrrh and expensive incense. The Ark was decorated with cherubim in gold. It is a natural instinct to ornament things of great importance in rare and beautiful materials. It is simply proper for such things to look that way, as it signifies their authority. And then there is the matter of beauty. God Himself is identical with the Good, the True and the Beautiful. Beauty therefore is part of the divine nature. When you beautify yourself or your surroundings, you are in a sense melding the world to more closely adhear to the form of God. I mean, I think even simplistic shoebox wooden churches older Prostestant traditions had have their charm, so it's not like beauty necessarily has to be expensive. The ugliness of modern churches spans denominational lines, Catholics are certainly not excempt from it. It's not even a matter of simplicity for the most part, it just lacks SOVL.

Europeans make less money than Americans, live in smaller houses, spend less, etc. I don't know what you mean.

I live in a very rural part of the states and the church I go to is a very small wooden church in the woods and my family is buried there as well. There are large very impressive churches in some of the cities but most Christians are in the suburbs and the rural parts of the country so weirdly the most religious tend to have the most meager places of worship but they can be anywhere.

there are even cowboy churches which are essentially casual churches done in farming and ranch communities where you might have service in a barn or a shed of sorts before work.

"Rugs are Oriental. People are Asian." Can't blame them if they are trying to make a distinction, but there's another contingency that sees being referred to as "Oriental" as demeaning. Everybody's a victim somehow.

There are really two types of Asian in America. There are the ones who basically just view themselves as normal Americans who usually become basically white after 2 generations and then those that want to find any way they can to keep oppressed minority status but realize there's no good way to do that as an Asian American. Like you have the Japanese internment camps and Chinese being hired to build railroads but that's about it.

Sometimes they complain about "being the model minority" but it's hard to complain about being considered the best and most likeable guys around and not looking like a complete Weiner.

Issuing a clarification because the edit timed out:
For muscle spray based on chloroethane, it is sprayed out of the can as liquid and then evaporates (boils, changes phase) on contact with the skin. Therefore it is the latent heat of vaporization that causes the bulk of the freezing effect in this case.
