What's even the big deal about the show? I watched a handful of episodes bitd...it's okay. Cute theme song. I mean... It's a middling effort. We're not talking about gravity falls and even then I was only interested when the plot revolved around finding out who the author of the books was and Bill cipher.

Chris must have really gotten something out of those conventions and brony culture, because from what I can tell there's nothing really to write home about the show.

Chris must have really gotten something out of those conventions and brony culture, because from what I can tell there's nothing really to write home about the show.

The conventions, specifically Bronycon, were very important to Chris, because at them he could be a fucking weirdo all he wanted and people generally didn't recoil in disgust in his presence. It was like MHS all over again and he felt like he belonged.

The ending of G4 also brought about the end of Bronycon and on some level I have to believe Chris thinks it will return if G4 is revived.

Plus, you gotta remember how Chris's alternate cartoon reality logic works: he thinks mass media like the pony show not only exists, but that if it stops being made then that cartoon world and everything in it dies. At one point right before the jail saga, he said that his images are just depictions of visions of things that actually happened in these alternate worlds. And he based a LOT of his late 30's personality on things from that show, ranging from cosplaying as a minor side character who existed literally just for merch purposes because the fandom latched onto the DJ pony from a single early episode, to the existence of Nightstar (his self-insert OC), to the aforementioned conventions which might as well have been the MHS class reunions he'd looked forward to for years and never got.
