It was jarring as fuck, and yeah, wouldn't be surprised if it was the results of upper management. It lead to a sick ending, but they also made one of the best characters a Villian because Lelouch couldn't control his geass in that EXACT moment

The gurren lagann manga adaptation is great, they got pieces fron the film version luke the tengen toppa gunmen, also Kiyal pilots the Tengen Toppa King Kittan in her brother's place. kino.

I've been enjoying Synduality Noir so much and the recent meme has been both fucking retarded and hilarious.
At the end of the 1st cour, the titular character Noir unlocked a second personality, which is basically the hyper competent version of herself. Everytime they switch personalities she has a mini transformation sequence and I love it.

I don't remember liking Euphemia that much, she kinda solved every issue in the series way too easily, kinda undermining the colonization subplot and the royal court being a nest of vipers.

In general media always had a problem of supposedly making the protagonist a bad guy but never committing. So his badness is either things he couldn't anticipate or prevent.

Personally liked Euphy, but I do see what you're saying. I guess looking back she fixed a lot of stuff quickly. That might have been why they killed her tbh.

A sign of a bad writer who didn't plan ahead very well. There's a reason people believe Death Note's success is why the second season went batshit insane when the signs were always there.

Although something tells me Yuuichi Nomura was the key to all of it.

I should be finishing S2 today. That said, S2 is different in tone. The animation is better, but it feels a bit like a train wreck with how much they're doing. Still like it, it's a fun ride, but itfeels like it's missing things
 
I don't think I've ever seen a weaker anime season in years. There are maybe 2 shows I genuinely want to watch (Dungeon Meshi and the Studio Bones original) and the rest is an ocean of isekai and villainess AI-generated garbage. I've gotten to the point where I won't even give them a shot if their rating isn't super high.

Other than that, there's some "they made a sequel to THAT?!" stuff. I liked Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun when I watched it years ago...doesn't mean I'm necessarily in the mood to watch more of it at this time. I might still watch Ao no Exorcist out of obligation. It's been ten years since the first season came out which is frightening.

It's official, Bang Bravern is possibly the gayest mecha anime to date (excepting Char's Counterattack and Legend of the Blue Wolves):


Pure kino. Everything else about this show is also great, such as Bravern's finishing logo being a projection behind him. There's also a classic Obari sword moon eyecatch, which has our two protagonists shirtless right before it:

It's a bit too gay and I don't know if I like the characters commenting on the music and naming, but it's still a strong start.

It's exactly like those mecha kid's shows that play in the background of more serious animes. From the ridiculous music to the overpowered hero that saves the day with ridiculous ease

...I'll gouge my eyes out before watching a second episode.

Yeah, I get really tired of "Everything I don't like is an isekai" as an argument. It's not even a genre, it's a trope and the execution varies a lot.

Like even if you want to conflate all this shit into one tired trend there's still plenty of anime pick one

That reminds me something I've been tempted to try out, how many of you remember any show you watched last year, i.e. winter 2023

I have a dumbass idea to try and use one of the anime databases not to see which where the most popular shows of that season, but which grew the most a year or two after they all ended. General idea is that the real FOTM shows probably flatlined since everyone probably moved on to the next new shinny anime, but the ones that kept growing where probably through word of mouth after the fact (barring a second season to drum up interest again) and might of had something of note to them.

But like I said dumbass idea, haven't tried it, probably assuming a few things that are completely wrong.
