Saw this is in another thread. Here's the link if you really want to see the original. Otherwise I'm making an edit to fix this into a decent comic.

The thing is if they are going to make Bobby more like Hank, will Dooley be more like Boomhauer and will Joseph be more like a combination of Dale and John?Thinking about the reboot after watching some select episodes.
Honestly, if I was in charge of it I'd make Bobby having grown up to become a bit more like Hank, but a Hank that has a sense of humor and is more comfortable with his emotions. They've built it up well between A River Runs Through It and To Sirloin With Love for Bobby to become a more stoic, masculine version of himself that actually has a lot in common with Hank.
Basically I'd make Bobby become like Hank if Hank wasn't raised by an abusive father.
I can absolutely see Dooley becoming a bit like Boomhauer. They're both men of few words. Dooley just lacks Boomhauer's speech impediment and is a bit of a bully. The thing is if they are going to make Bobby more like Hank, will Dooley be more like Boomhauer and will Joseph be more like a combination of Dale and John?
Ironically your friend seems to be an outlier from what I've seen. King of the Hill had a sizable fan base in Japan. To the point where they actually have the same autistic subs vs dubs debate webs have, and a bunch of Japanese fans got really angry when they replaced the Japanese voice actors who originally did the dubs. How does KotH rate overseas? The humor is not only very American, is specifically Texan humor.
I had a Japanese friend in college that dismissed the show for its "ugly" character designs. I begged her to give it another chance. But maybe it's impenetrable for foreigners?
I'm not ready for the Dale funeral episode brosI can absolutely see Dooley becoming a bit like Boomhauer. They're both men of few words. Dooley just lacks Boomhauer's speech impediment and is a bit of a bully.
And honestly, Joseph is a character that could be used for very interesting episodes. Imagine if they decide to have Dale die because Johnny Hardwick died. You could have an episode where at the funeral John Redcorn decides it's time to tell Joseph that he's his real father.
"I know. I've known for a long time."
"Why didn't you ever say anything?"
"Because it didn't matter! You're not my dad! Dale was my dad! You were just someone my mom cheated on my dad with!"
I can honestly see Joseph more or less growing up hating Redcorn if he figured out the truth at some point. Because Joseph loves the shit out of Dale, and finding out his friend stabbed him in the back like that could piss him off.
Edit: Have a Dale Space Marine I found.

It's one of those shows that does take time to get used to. It's a show that doesn't need to be animated because it acts like what a sitcom should be, but it is animated anyway and it still works, and unlike other Fox animated shows, particularly Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama and American Dad where they are completely operatic, King of the Hill still manages to be down-to-earth from beginning to end. It's such a great show through and through. When I started watching KotH, I didn't think much of it. Heck, I even though about quitting. It just seemed so dull and cheap compared to Simpsons. (Family guy sucks, never gonna watch that trash)
But now I'm mid Season 3 and I came to really appreciate it. It's a great show and I hope the reboot does well.
It's great, especially if you're getting older and can't stand all the raunchy degraded shit in all the other sitcoms. While remaining decent, KotH still has a lot of crazy shit going for it, like that one Christmas episode where Bill has a mental break down and troons out, thinking he's his own ex wife. That shit was wild. It's one of those shows that does take time to get used to. I think it’s one of those shows you only really appreciate when you get a bit older. I was around 12 or 13 when it first aired and I thought it was boring as hell back then and just wanted it to hurry the fuck up so I could watch some Simpsons. When I started watching KotH, I didn't think much of it. And don't forget the one Halloween episode where Luanne encounters an entrepreneur of meat marketing that also happens to be a crazy pig man, which is by far the most horrifying KoTH episode, but still appropriate given it being a Halloween episode and all, and is also another great episode. Or even the two-parter episode where the Hills (along with Cotton) go to Japan and Hank finds out he has a long distance long lost cousin that looked exactly identical to him. It's great, especially if you're getting older and can't stand all the raunchy degraded shit in all the other sitcoms. no it's his half brother.out he has a long distance long lost cousin that looked exactly identical to him.
Still, my point being King of the Hill has always been the most down-to-earth animated sitcom throughout its run and, while not perfect, it's still an outstanding showno it's his half brother.
I'm open to that if they can get someone that sounds similar. Use the smoking as an excuse for the voice change. But I wouldn't be opposed to using AI either. With all due respect to Johnny Hardwick, there's really no reason why they can't just get Dale a new voice actor. Voice actors die and get replaced all the time. Life goes on.
