Questions for the female autists here - Sneed

Yeah well but seriously only dumb people would prefer not to be a high IQ anything, even if high IQ comes with suffering at having to look at the stupidity around you.
I wouldn't trade too much of behavior for intelligence though cause then it becomes a foucaultian thing of "the autistic retards of society are capable of seeing 5th dimensionally cause they're just so intelligent but are rejected by society for being autistic retards" which is sort of cope used by the depressed and mentally ill that they're not actually depressed or mentally ill but they're just so intelligent that they can perceive things other people can't. Normally that is called schizophrenia but go figure, we have something called a troon now.

I feel like at least 80% of engineers are autistic. STEM in general is full of spergs.

I unfortunately did not get the autism that makes you good at math (I got the opposite), so I will never be a high-paid tech sperg F
omg me too
I'm just unable to focus on math. It's the opposite of a special interest. I can do practical math, and math that I can visualize, but that's it.

I got the art + psychology autism, and my job is in my field of interest... But it's a lowish demand, and has a lot of person-to-person interaction, so it can be grating, even on good days. And doesn't pay enough on the rest.

Why is it harder for females to get diagnosed with autism?
Many reasons. Mainly because boys are 4x more likely to have autism than girls. Statistically girls with autism get diagnosed later than boys are better at masking so they often don't seem "autistic", but more socially awkward or aloof.
What problems do women with it face that guys (usually) don't?
Tough question because girls and boys with autism face similar issues. For me, I mask myself and don't tell anyone I have autism to avoid infantization or the dreaded "You don't look autistic". Most people would assume I'm just socially awkward or anxious
Did you actually mind having the tism or is it just 'what it is'?
The more the grow up, the more I go "What can I do about it?" It is genetic after all.
What's your take on "self diagnosed autists"?
I LOATHE the people who fake it online and fetishize the "quirky neurospicy" type. Autism and ADHD is not "quirky" or "fun", they are still disabilities at the end of the day, regardless of where you are at on the spectrum, you will struggle with something.
Do you feel bad for any of the cows with autism or do you just feel schadenfreude?
Mostly schadenfreude, although I can feel and relate to their pain sometimes. It's my life's mission not to become a lolcow and just have a normal life.
Although I don't believe that autism is a valid excuse for shitty behavior.
Bonus question: what age did you get diagnosed
When I was 2 years old lol

Being shy and withdrawn is also seen as more normal for girls. Meanwhile boys with autism are often more demonstrative in the autistic screeching way so it's more noticeable.

Also my suspicion is it's one of those things where a lot of related genes are on the X chromosome and if a girl has a "tism gene" on one X, she might not have it on the other, so the "good" gene compensates for it. Having only one X, boys are pretty much screwed if one of them is loaded up with tism genes, sort of like Fragile X.

Not sure if this has any basis in reality.

Shit, I think I mentioned before but a lot of autistic women in groups I've been in only get diagnosed after one of their kids does. And getting diagnosed as an adult can be it's own set of challenges (especially as a parent, since you can potentially have to fight for custody of your kids in some areas for being a diagnosed sperg).

If you actually have ADHD amphetamines give you nothing like a pleasant rush, which is part of why it's probably a bad idea to prescribe them so broadly. The people who they're prescribed for don't like them, but everyone else does so they often get resold.
Amphetamines like Adderall are fucking scary. With ADHD you have difficulty in focusing on a certain tasks and end up wasting time on nothing. On Adderall it's flipped on the head. You have all of this energy and focus, but once you are done with what needs to be done sitting around doing nothing is suffering and panic inducing. Even watching TV is unnerving.

And back in the 90s they were giving speed out like candy to any kid that couldn't sit perfectly quiet for hours or was weird/disruptive. Ritalin was the first med I was ever put on lmao

ADHD is a real thing and stimulants have their place, but they were massively overprescribed back in the day in an attempt to drug kids into compliance (when they realized speed wouldn't do that to me they started trying with antipsychotics, which just made me tired all the time).
It should be noted that during RFK’s recent interview with Joe Rogan, he revealed that the autism link to childhood vaccines is of a greater correlation than lung cancer to cigarettes.
BRB getting as many vaccines as possible so I can upgrade my autism to the maximum power level (and not die horribly from preventable diseases).

High IQ correlates negatively with schizophrenia, but fairly strongly for depression and substance abuse.
That was a joke, what I meant there was getting high intelligence at the cost of compromised behavioural characteristics will put you in the same category of the depressed and mentally ill because one of the copes they use is "I'm actually very intelligent and am able to see things you cant through sheer intelligence and 5th dimensional perception but I'm considered insane and mentally ill cause of societal standards" the able to see bit there is what I called schizophrenia. Sure you can be an actual genius with some compromised behaviour but if it were be normal or be intelligent, I would choose being normal. Also bring intelligent will lead to existentialism, nihilism and lack of relatability, I don't want that.

> die horribly

That’s an interesting way to say “get a fever and fully recover”

The only time I got vaxxed in my life was in my late teens (Extremely paranoid mom had to be convinced for a tetanus shot) and I was still born a sped.

If anything I got this shit genetically.

Has anyone else got the kind of "sensory issues" (yeah, the phrase is cringe, leave me alone) where it impacts their ability to do things they think they might enjoy otherwise?

I was thinking about this over the weekend because I had to use a certain type of pencil for the first time in a long time, and I remembered how I never got into coloring or art because I can't stand the noises pencils and markers make. I started using pens for everything in middle school and just carried white-out on me and never took an art class again after I gained the ability to choose my own courses.
Similarly, I never got into dancing or choreography because listening to the same music multiple times makes me want to throw a chair.

When would you say this really began to ramp up with girls, and what do you suppose the reason is? Off the top of my head I assume it's the laziest way to declare oneself to not be like other girls (tm) while also doubling as an excuse for shitty behavior and acting stupid.
