My interest in the topic has been replaced with the fury of giving a click to the video. I kindly DEMAND a TL;DW because I fast-forwarded through this prick's video like 20 times and he still hasn't gotten to the point 8 minutes in.
Since I'm triggered, I might as well post my own peeves as well.

Has anyone mentioned Asmongold yet? Saw a couple of clips of him. Was not a fan.

I see his appeal and its difficult to hate him if your exposure to him is through the brief clips that often go viral or do very well on youtube. In the sea of boring stuff and loonies that compose our youtube recommendations, he gives off a kind of old-friend vibe that makes you think he's different. Then you realize he's just a twitch cliquester making bank off of having a wholesome persona when in reality all he cares about is grifting without stepping on twitch's A-listers and thots.

I got sick of Ryan Hollinger when he began to shill for subs and likes at the start of the video. I absolutely hate that.

That's a huge number of channels now. I wonder which youtube coach is to blame for this shit trend. Combined with the other big-brain tactics they use to increase "engagement"; this is how a typical youtube vid plays out these days:

Intro with brief description of video topic > Overly long channel intro with lame clips and music > Explain the topic again (but why?) and say "lets get into it / sit, back relax" or something similar > BEFORE THAT THIS VIDEO IS SPONSORED BY stupidly long sponsor segment > Explain the topic again > Beg for likes and subscribes while displaying a low-res sub button like a popup ad and playing an audio-unbalanced bell sound > Explain the shit a final time and start talking about what the video is about.
And those are just the challenges you face if you're blocking ads. RIP.

Kings and Generals: was good (or I thought they were good) when they covered ancient and medieval / pre-modern history. Then they started and continue to cover Ukraine and more recently the Israel-Palestine war. Given their huge reliance on patreon on sponsor-shilling you just know they won't ever report anything accurately because actual balanced coverage isn't something people would ever want to hear, let alone pay for. Now I feel guilty for trusting their old vids because I don't know what stuff they might have scrubbed or ignored from them to preserve their sponsor-whore status.

Says nothing interesting, thought provokong or anything that hasn't already been said before a thousand times over -- just flat out boring.

One vid. in particular of his I found annoying was about Elden Ring and it was just a diatribe of trauma dumping for being overwhelmed having to start such a huge game all over again because he fucked up his stats and how that related to his stress over the covid lockdowns. Youtubers really need to stop doing this thing where they disguise their mental hang-ups in a hobby essay instead of talking to a damn therapist. Also he seems to have gone through some 'enlightenment' phase where his lastest Zelda retrospectives are just him poetically wanking off his lexicon and detailing things like he's reading novel.

Synthetic Man is another one I don't like that /v/ seems to love.
Same thing as KingK, except he purposely focuses on negativity and the culture war because, paraphrasing here, "thats what brings in the views and no one would watch my other, less rigid content anyway". I'm not sure if he's changed his stance on that since it was said 2-3 years ago, but at a glance of his channel now, that doesn't seem to be the case. He's also painfully unfunny with his humor coming off really awkward and stilted.

To me, he just comes across as a Zoomer caught up in another renaissance of the culture war, like those Anti-SJWs who took advantage of the trend of 'Pwnage Culture' of Feminists/SJWs at the time, mainly for the clicks. Both his fans and haters are the most obnoxious sycophants I've ever encountered.
His fans only seem to like him simply because he's BASED for owning the Libs and dabbing on troons, which amount to just saying woke shit sucks and sometimes showcasing their insanity that's Twitter-tier levels of drama, while his haters are obsessed stalkers desperate to dig up any dirt they can find on him to make the 'chud' look bad, like him sharing he's had ED as a side effect for taking hair growth supplements. This is my issue with him as well. Far too often, people go "oh but he's doing charity so who cares of it's milked for content and clout"

And sure, if you wanna be horribly pragmatic about it, go ahead. But for me and my ethics, it always felt exploitative and cynical. It fills me with a bad-tasting feeling when someone has to tell everyone that they are doing something for charity...instead of just doing it.

I too find the concept interesting; the violence and how it relates to the music but I could do without Ross' dicksucking the music and maybe not sound like he's cooming over how "great" it sounds. And use their terminology. It sounds weird when he goes "dissing their ops" like he's part of their life.

I suspect it may be because these songs are sometimes used as evidence in murder cases because talentless sociopaths who namedrop and diss recently murdered gangbangers make investigation easy I guess.

And Ross might be actively afraid of those people, considering how little they value the lives of others.

Yeah, at a certain point it became an active choice for a lot of these people to want that lifestyle. I also have a hard time taking the "rough life" seriously when they are responsible for causing others to live that exact same rough life. Oh, you grew up without your dad because he got shot? How many of those people you killed had kids?

These guys brag about how many people they've killed, and it's literally more people than most serial killers manage (most serial killers kill between three and five).
