Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
It's always puzzled me how Game Freak has always kept their games extremely simple (not counting IV autism in early games) and not attempting to do something more in-depth to keep up with the demographic that made them big to begin with. Even though the games are aimed at kids and teens, the young generation of today are more savvy to how games work. When I was growing up, if you didn't know something in a game and didn't have either a strategy guide of some sort or a friend who knew what to do, you were shit out of luck. There's a ton of resources and guides on the internet and YouTube to learn gameplay mechanics, and game developers don't account for younger audiences who want a deeper gameplay experience.
GF is the classic case of a developer stagnating since the user base will buy its games no matter what. They probably wouldn't be able to make this kind of game mechanically even if they wanted
I don't think too many Pokemon fans are seething right now, rather the same creatures that openly sucked GF's cock during SwSh/SV era over every single little thing and lost their shit when people laughed/criticized these games are now seething at Palworld. They are not fans, they are blind consoomers, and likely some sort of coomer/tranny/pedo/retard hybrid as well
Enjoy the game and enjoy the salt, I bet the devs love all the free publicity
Nah it's the adult pokefags seething since they base their identity on those games and being the Nintendo master race and now they suddenly lost their exclusivity

The game is fun so far, if it had been a Game Freak production it'd be lauded as a stunning innovation (lol)

Regarding copyright; no Pokemon does not have a monopoly on the concept of [animal but as an rpg monster]. If anything they've copied ARK more than any other game.

Nintendo shills on suicide watch, cope and sneed.

Nintendo shits out hundreds of Pokemon every few years, each new gen looking like a bootleg of the previous ones. Palworld would have to go for a completely distinct art style like SMT if they were to avoid any similiartities. But since part of the marketting of the game was this parody Pokemon with gun thing, they had to stick to the cutesy cartoon animal like creatures.

Palworld joins the distinguished list of games that I will never buy but which have provided me with more entertainment than any modern AAA game could by making faggots mad.

@Croaking Spider: The market that made Pokemon big was children. And it has kept up with that and changed ever so slightly when needed to.

That’s what the adult pokefags don’t get, they’ve always been the minority. Who GF actually did cater to via Shiny Hunting, Competative Mechanics and honestly the complexity of every story since Gen 3 increasing. Oh and the constant remakes etc

BDSP was entirely a long time fan demand and Arceus, the game that fans now say is so good, was not wanted until it was dropped and was good.

If anything GF really needs to stop listening to their older fans. What they want is normally always bad.

It’s not that they would sue them over. It’s the fact that Pal World ripped off most of their designs and it’s not even subtle about it.

Yes, but which cause of action is gonna be used? Without really obvious cases of brand confusion (as in, someone has to look at the box art or ads, not model meshes, and immediately think its pokemon), there is no such thing as a slam dunk case in copyright infringement. Derivative work is commonly the cudgel TPC uses but they have to pass the box art test to use their normal modus operandi, which absolutely isn't gonna work.

Someone will have to make the argument that there is no chance for pocket pair to have traced and that they 100% stole the models if the lawyer wants to use digital rights. Even if that passes, they have to still make the argument why retexturing doesn't count as transformative, in Japanese copyright court no less, which is hilariously permissive compared to the US.

Beyond all that, with the money pocket pair has now, they can pretty much settle just about anything out of court lol. Obviously the lawsuit is feasible, but being worth more than a settlement? That's the real question.

That’s likely why they won’t lawsuit. It’s not worth it to them. Smart move would be to strike an under the table deal so Pal World can copy all the mons they want and GF get a cut. I say under the table so they can keep the image of kid friendly and tap both markets.

Heck considering Coloseum and XD it would not be the first time someone else has made Pojemon only to be collapsed in GF later after the ‘hype edgy phase’ died

I haven't played scat and vomit or Arceus so I wouldn't be able to say for sure, but does anything in there actually have animations with as much character as Cawgnito? Seriously, every time i encounter those guys I completely forget most of this game is stolen models. The animations on those guys are just so good.

I also really like them lorewise. Literally a fedora wearing bird whose background is "while you were busy flying, I was busy studying the blade" *teleports behind u*

Uhhh they aren't stolen models
At worse some of them were traced from pokemon models but altered.
And if tracing is illegal then that's dumb, for any new modeller i recommend tracing, or what it's actually called retopologising, an existing model
It's a good way to learn the tools and make a model without having to be stuck thinking for them

Arceus is probably the Pokemon game with the most character because you are field researching and catching Pokemon for that so they actually have to make mons do things that they would do normally.

SV has that to a lesser degree and it’s difficult to spot due to how fast you go over the map and just the games popping in and out so frequently.

If anything Pal World is probably better because working with way less and they kind of have to sell them all as different.

Which honestly should be a message to GF to cut back on the amount and focus more on style. Fuck the people complaining about Dexit. Snap had a limited roster and was stupidly characterful in animation and made by a third party and people loved that

I ended up checking the discord and dedicated servers are totally fucked lol. Only real way to play multiplayer is through world invites.

I'm a little busy this week, but I should be able to squeeze some time here and there... If anyone's up for it I'd be down with helping someone's world over the weekend or something. Once you know the world layout, catching up to someone at endgame from scratch actually isn't that bad as long as nobody's being antagonistic lol.

Japanese court is well known to fuck over Gaijin by default, but at worst the game wouldn't be available in Japan. Also in general if someone wanted to ripoff pokemon they'd use gens 1-2 and not the absolute garbage of later gens.

I mean, if I was being smart, I’d rip off the later gens because i might be able to skirt under the rader because they aren’t known as well.

And a lot of the big Pokemon content creators started with Gen 3/4 nowadays.

Probably why they didn’t shut up about Gen 4 and 5 remakes. Cause it’s the two they remember most recently.
