@Squawking Macaw; They kind of have to be text box heavy. Is game for babbies and even the adult players seem to miss a lot.
As for a Japanese playerbase, slightly but they do seem to be catering to the West heavily.
I don’t think the core audiance they have will be pissed off Pokemon fans or that’s even the main playerbase.
I think the base build and shoot cute things is tapping into a niche that Pokemon couldn’t fill even if they wanted to. And honestly Pal World is probably going to get people to look at the next Pokemon game that have not looked at one since 1998 if at all
My only complaint about Palworld is that the monster designs look a tad uninspired, but it's not really a complaint. Nintendo/Game Freak had a de facto monopoly on the monster capture/fighting genre that such comparisons would be inevitable. It's not like Pokemon fans can cast stones either because many Pokemon themselves were inspired by Dragon Quest, which was the most popular game in Japan.
There’s a difference between inspired by and clearly stole. Pal World seems to have stole.
Which is one of the things that makes this all so funny.
The only competition Pokemon has is itself, quite literally, with guns and that makes everyone go ‘this kind of stuff is what Pokemon should be doing’ ignoring the fact that Arceus, Coloseum and Sword and Shield did Pokemon’s version of this.
Pokemon’s biggest problem is a large chunk of players that say they grew up playing these games weren’t paying attention when Nintendo innovated and now something comes along steals thier stuff, adds guns and gets all the credit.
Pokemon needs to find a way I feel to make people not think they’ve been the same since 1998.
Palworld is simply filling a niche that Nintendo/GF don't care to fill and they can have it as far as I'm concerned.
It’s not like they even could fill the hole. They want a game where you can shoot Pokemon. Nintendo is never going to do that. They can’t have you shooting Pikachu in the face. Even if they wanted to. And Coloseum being the failure it was probably means they don’t want to.
I don't know if Palworld has a monster that iconic.
Considering most of them are reused Pokemon designs, they don’t. And they don’t need to. The game is Pikachu with a gun. Everyone knows this.
And like Digimon it will probably get enough of a fanbase to continue especially when, unlike Digimon, the game is actually fun and easy to play.
Sometimes all you want and need is to shoot a Pikachu in the face.
I'm not sure if it's XY's story I hate or if I just hate Lysandre for being really annoying.
I mean I view it as one in the same as they are so tightly interlinked.
But it's true that he and the story can't really compare to the games and villains sandwiching him. And I don't even really like Gen 5 that much either.
Gen 5 is really remembered with rose tinted glasses honestly. Or no one that remembers it remembers how much people bitched
