Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
@30+GameOvers
I’d argue that most of the stories in them are actually fine for the target audiance. Saturday Morning cartoons for 5 year olds.

In fact I’d argue it’s only XY and SWSH that have bad stories. And thise are the games that were obviously not finished.

But yeah, it’s not a surprise that in a game the thing people care most about is the gameplay.

DP lore and story for instance is beyond cool but the gameplay wasn’t so I dislike those games

The nerd boom feels like it's on it's last legs, which may be pure copium, but it really does seem like, more and more, games don't get the amount of reddit-esqe dick-slobberers they used to just a few years ago.
This is your friendly reminder that The Big Bang Theory was one of, if not the worst things to ever happen to Nerd Culture. Between it and the Comic Movie Boom, the floodgates were opened and Nerd Culture died a death.

This Boom dying off is welcome.

I’m going to keep saying it - people seem to forget that, at its core, Pokémon is a franchise intended for children - children don’t exactly give a shit about quality.

The Autists and Furries that also gobble this shit up are probably just Bonus Points as far as Game Freak is concerned. I’m not giving Game Freak a Pass, but we all need the occasional reminder.

@30+GameOvers Can't reply for some reason,
Depending on the length of the post you can’t reply to it.

The nerds that caused the boom are growing older and the new gen of nerds is just not the same as it was
Like I said, massive copium, but maybe people are doing the normal autist thing of taking a meme seriously, and starting to go the fuck outside, and leave us loser nerds the fuck alone.
I mean with the coof now over…yeah.

It’s not even like the stories aren’t quality. They are just told in a way the target audiance can understand. And if the content creators when they go back and replay games constantly going ‘they got that in?’ etc tells me anything it is even if the story has deeper stuff, the child was not paying attention.

If anything the story being bad even by that standard tells you there was probably bigger issues with the game that they did not finish.
The Autists and Furries that also gobble this shit up are probably just Bonus Points as far as Game Freak is concerned.
They are.

So got Gale of Darkness out to puck up the stuff I need for Emerald and the fuck did the mean by ‘experience the extra dimension?’

Are you ready for your daily dose of autism? Here is a technical explanation behind some obscure Pokemon glitches
If you're into this sort of thing, I heavily recommend the rest of his videos. This dude singlehandedly made the Gen 2 Game Corner music be associated with technical autism and breaking a game into a thousand little pieces for me, just like Super Mario 64 file select theme

It's funny you say this as I was planning on asking for any Pokémon-related YouTuber suggestions. (I was going to ask yesterday but KF was fucking up.)

You might say "no shit", but you don't really think about that when you actually play the game, you focus on the next gym or trying to catch/train your Pokemon, whatever. The next story segment or evil team encounter is kind of like having story in a porno: it's just there because it has to be there but nobody expects it to be good. Why CAN'T it be good? Just because the games are made for kids doesn't mean they can just be low effort garbage, kids can enjoy things too.
The story can't be good for the same reason the games can't have good graphics: Game Freak doesn't know how to do it. Whenever they try to focus more on the story like with Gens 5, 7 and 9 the result is always never-ending text boxes and cutscenes. Game Freak doesn't know how to tell a story without infodumping it through annoying amounts of text that get in the way of the gameplay.

Steam Charst numbers for Palworld currently, I wonder how the people at Nintendo and Game Freak are reacting.
Does Palworld have a Japanese following? If not, I can't see Game Freak caring, eastern devs don't seem to be very concerned with what the west finds popular. Yokai Watch scared them in part because it was also Japanese. Not to mention that despite their (lack of) quality, Gens 8 and 9 were financial successes, they outsold every generation except Gen 1:

About Palworld specifically, I'm still skeptical after Temtem. It's getting a lot of attention now but will it be able to keep its playerbase once the novelty of 'Pokemon but with guns' wears off? Maybe it'll succeed as it's trying a different genre, but much like Temtem it won't survive for long if its playerbase is made up of pissed Pokemon fans looking to stick it to Game Freak, those people will drop Palworld for the next Pokemon game once it comes out.

I just watched this video and the Mystery Dungeon part is actual creepypasta material.

I wouldn't have taken a second look at Palworld, but now that it's pissing people off I might have to check it out. Is it a single player game at its base, or is it dedicated multiplayer?
Default settings is balanced around at the absolute minimum 2 players. But the game comes with completely customizable world settings, so you can just increase the damage you do/increase drop rates to make it a proper singleplayer game. Or you could play it on default solo because you're a brain addled autist like me.

My only complaint about Palworld is that the monster designs look a tad uninspired, but it's not really a complaint. Nintendo/Game Freak had a de facto monopoly on the monster capture/fighting genre that such comparisons would be inevitable. It's not like Pokemon fans can cast stones either because many Pokemon themselves were inspired by Dragon Quest, which was the most popular game in Japan. One has to remember that Game Freak started as a fanzine made by Satoshi Taijiri--who was your textbook sperg otaku. I imagine that he wanted to incorporate those designs into Pokemon during Red and Green's development.

Palworld is simply filling a niche that Nintendo/GF don't care to fill and they can have it as far as I'm concerned. Will it have any lasting power? Maybe. Digimon had fanbase dedicated enough of Bandai/Toei to keep pumping out games and anime, albeit at a more sporadic pace than Pokemon. Then again, it could be a flash in the pan amplified by the Streisand effect. Only time will still. Pokemon spergs need to chill the fuck out. Pikachu is already a more recognizable rodent than Mickey Mouse. I don't know if Palworld has a monster that iconic.

I'm not sure if it's XY's story I hate or if I just hate Lysandre for being really annoying. But it's true that he and the story can't really compare to the games and villains sandwiching him. And I don't even really like Gen 5 that much either.

@Squawking Macaw; They kind of have to be text box heavy. Is game for babbies and even the adult players seem to miss a lot.

As for a Japanese playerbase, slightly but they do seem to be catering to the West heavily.

I don’t think the core audiance they have will be pissed off Pokemon fans or that’s even the main playerbase.

I think the base build and shoot cute things is tapping into a niche that Pokemon couldn’t fill even if they wanted to. And honestly Pal World is probably going to get people to look at the next Pokemon game that have not looked at one since 1998 if at all

There’s a difference between inspired by and clearly stole. Pal World seems to have stole.

Which is one of the things that makes this all so funny.

The only competition Pokemon has is itself, quite literally, with guns and that makes everyone go ‘this kind of stuff is what Pokemon should be doing’ ignoring the fact that Arceus, Coloseum and Sword and Shield did Pokemon’s version of this.

Pokemon’s biggest problem is a large chunk of players that say they grew up playing these games weren’t paying attention when Nintendo innovated and now something comes along steals thier stuff, adds guns and gets all the credit.

Pokemon needs to find a way I feel to make people not think they’ve been the same since 1998.

It’s not like they even could fill the hole. They want a game where you can shoot Pokemon. Nintendo is never going to do that. They can’t have you shooting Pikachu in the face. Even if they wanted to. And Coloseum being the failure it was probably means they don’t want to.
I don't know if Palworld has a monster that iconic.
Considering most of them are reused Pokemon designs, they don’t. And they don’t need to. The game is Pikachu with a gun. Everyone knows this.

And like Digimon it will probably get enough of a fanbase to continue especially when, unlike Digimon, the game is actually fun and easy to play.

Sometimes all you want and need is to shoot a Pikachu in the face.
I'm not sure if it's XY's story I hate or if I just hate Lysandre for being really annoying.
I mean I view it as one in the same as they are so tightly interlinked.
But it's true that he and the story can't really compare to the games and villains sandwiching him. And I don't even really like Gen 5 that much either.
Gen 5 is really remembered with rose tinted glasses honestly. Or no one that remembers it remembers how much people bitched

Did the game even show any reason why Lysandre wanted to kill all undesirables making the world ugly? Medieval Kalos had a war bad enough to merit the use of doomsday weapons, but the current day Kalos doesn't have glaring flaws that'd upset a whiny misanthrope so badly as far as I remember. In such a sanitized world where the main gimmick was harnessing the power of friendship via Mega Evolution, he sounds like a raving lunatic.

Black and White's story was worse than people remember, imo. The whole "liberate Pokémon" moral dilemma, as shallow and flawed as it's shown to be, was a smokescreen for your standard megalomaniac villain who wants to use Pokémon (and his retarded son) as tools to take over. That's what their story focus amounted to, another 2d villain who wants to take over the world.

I still cannot believe GF didn't have faith in their story for more than 5 minutes (the Munna scene). What was the point?

No, he's really just a dick. Not like Cyrus had much depth either but at least he wasn't annoying. I think GF realized how nobody liked Lysandre either when they made USUM.

No, he's really just a dick.
I mean, there was a reason. It was bs. Like, I cannot understate how stupid it all was.

The world is shit, Lysandre tries to help, no one wants his help, so he decides to nuke the world.

Even better. He leaves that up to the player to decide. Player says no. One of his admin decides to flip switch anyways.

And he goes ‘oh well, I know I said I’d give you the choice but since my Admin was a dick guess we are going through with it’

And he does this twice. Twice.

In the span of like 30 minutes.

And then he straight up dies.

And every single character is like ‘dudes seems a bit extreme’ right from your first meeting.

BW and SM were subtle in contrast.

And Lillie is literally a Nhelligo Cosplay.
