James Bond should be fun which is why the Roger Moore movies are the best. He'll defeat the comical bad guy/muscle and then fuck a hot babe at the end. That's all the movie needs to have. I don't need to see James Bond with PTSD or some bullshit in the Daniel Craig portrayal. What the fuck is he so depressed about being a super spy that regularly fucks hot babes?

Bond is weird in the fact that it can work either way.

It’s just the story needs to be solid.

Then again, Book Bond literally detonates a nuke along the Southern UK Coastline (Moonraker).

Just watched Tomorrow never dies
it was alright but what stuck with me the most is how well it's plot aged and is extremely relevant today with a media mogul manipulating news and almost starting war between 2 countries leading to WW3 just for the sake of tv ratings
very interesting
Yeah it’s shocking how good TND is. It’s just often overshadowed by Goldeneye.

So what are people's opinions on Quantum of Solace? Worst Bond film or an underrated film?

It's better then the snoozefest that was skyfall and spectre. it had a semblance of a decent bond flick and if not for the writers strike, might have been one. And frankly it's not like Skyfall or Spectre were better written. at least QoS has an excuse.

Also, neither really felt like Bond films especially spectre. Although skyfall had the opening of Macau scene and Shanghai part which felt Bondish.

As @Rubick said, the writers' strike definitely didn't work in the film's favor. More than anything, I think fans had very high expectations after Casino Royale and would have been disappointed regardless. I know I was, I only watched the movie once.
I think the crux of the problem with Daniel Craig's Bond was to push a narrative arc over several movies. Seriously, was it really necessary to drag Vesper's corpse through 5 fucking movies?

Also, the title of worst Bond movie is shared by No Time to Die and Moonraker.

Is it me or is it weird how Martin Campbell directs a Bond film that either brings Bond into a new era or a directing a reboot? (Goldeneye, Casino Royale)

In my mind, the franchise ended at Casino Royale, a fitting end. Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre were Bourne clones skinsuiting as Bond. You could tell the right people hated Bond eventually because No Time to Die was them just gutting Bond as much as they could but also had to acknowledge the franchise was popular enough not to outright kill it off.

The Bond franchise really can’t continue though because today’s villains are also society’s heroes. The megalomaniacs of today are today’s benevolent billionaire class, soyentists who fuck around with viruses in government labs, and NGO leaders like Soros or Schwab. Never has there been a better potential era for Bond than now but we’re told to worship these people, not stop them. So all Bond can really do is stop a clone of Putler or stop a small band of white supreeeeemists from hurting pee oh cees. The villain cannnot even be North Koreans anymore. At this point it’s better to just end the franchise than make some awful Bond flick where he’s going to stop the Proud Boys.

Not having seen Spectre or the last Craig Bond movie (don't remember the name and don't care to remember), it is easily the worse one I've seen. I'd rather watch Moonraker, Never Say Never Again, or the World is Not Enough.

Honestly we just need an new bond that can be charming like Roger Moore.

I would agree with you, but I think the Reacher show demonstrates there's still an appetite for heroic straightforward "blunt instrument" masculine heroes. It won't ever be what it was, but it can still be good. It can still be Bond.

I'm just glad Craig is gone. His movies (except Casino Royale, which is carried by lots of factors outside the movie) are all derivative trend-following anti-Bond films.

Activision Bond games > EA Bond games
Legends/Quantum game were pretty good (Goldeneye Reloaded still very mid)
BabbyCOD is fun

Man with the Golden Gun 100% best Bond film btw

-I haven’t seen any of the Dalton movies, but I’ve heard they’re really good.
I really enjoyed The Living Daylights. Probably one of my favorite Bond films. Don't really remember the other one.
Which was the better Bond game?
Nightfire?

Or

Everything or Nothing?
I have fond memories of Everything or Nothing. A friend lent me his gamecube with it.

The theme song for TND has always stuck with me for some reason, more than most of the other ones.

Some notably awesome theme songs:
View to a Kill
Surrender (TND [funny acronym lol])
Die Another Day
Nobody Does It Better

Ending NTTD with the same fucking song from Majesty's was so lazy and lame. Everything about that ending sucked, I didn't hate the movie as a whole though, maybe Craig's best.

This news story is already like half a year old but this was the newest Bond book written for the new kings coronation or some shit

I'm so not looking forward to the Dr. Who-ification of the movies. Maybe it was written on the wall since that first M quote in Goldeneye though.

So I just watched the Sound of 007 for the heck of it.

All I want to say is: nobody can make fun of Gustav Graves anymore after No Time to Die.

Change my mind.

The Living Daylights is a pretty generic Bond entry- you could see any Bond actor in the role and it would basically the same. Typical Cold War intrigue (with poorly aged Mujahideen simping.)

License to Kill, otoh, is the "real" Dalton Bond movie. All superficial charm, quiet rage, and utter ruthlessness with an intensity that nobody else could really deliver. It's also a story that's aged very well, since cartels are at least as relevant today as they were back in the 80s.
