Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Anybody got recs for mecha anime? I've been watching a lot of Gundam recently, I enjoy the real robot side of things but G Gundam is my favorite of the series so I'm more of a super robot manchild. Either way, I'd appreciate anybody who'd introduce me to something they personally really like and want to share.
Patlabor - Real Robot taken to the furthest extreme possible. Mechs aren't treated as big war machines, but closer to like forklifts.
The Big O - It's Batman with a giant robot.
Giant Robo - The Coolest Fucking Thing You've Ever Fucking Seen
Space Runaway Ideon - Peak Tomino. Fight me.
GaoGaiGar - Monster of the week anime with lots of screaming which is cool as shit.
Macross Plus - Cool mecha love triangle that initially got me back into watching anime again a couple of years ago. It's short so you could totally knock it out in a day.
Getter Robo - Fucking awesome. If you like TTGL in any way, this is where it's energy came from. The manga is extremely short (60 chapters) and you have 3 good OVAs that are short.
Project A-ko - I don't think this is necesscarily mecha, but the sheer energy of just the first movie is something that needs to be seen. Also Discotek did a great job with the rerelease.

I wonder how many times have I shilled Giant Robo, Patlabor, and Getter in this thread?

Back Arrow is pretty awesome original one off for something recent. Fun characters, captivating plot and a cool twist that you slowly begin to suspect as you near the end.

Started and finished reading Parasyte Reversi. Man, there is something about stories that happens at the same time as other stories that makes me angry. It is almost like the worse of both worlds, doesnt work as a side story and doesnt work as a prequel because it isnt one.

It gets some of the same themes but I wish the main character relationship with his weirdo dad was better, sometimes I wondered if the main character was a parasyte. The main villain was a dude with sumilar position with Shinichi who was fucking insane and doped his parasyte full on drugs.

There were some parts that had to tie to the main story that made me mad. It could've been a sequel, the parasytes are still alive in the end of the main story, why not do that instead of a interquel.

But holy shit the artist got the deadpan look of iwaaki parasytes right on, even his normal deadpan look in teppuu wasn't as deadpan like those parasytes that he did.

Quite a fast read too

Wait, Reversi got full translation? Last I checked it was at CH.39 on MangaDex.

Fang of the Sun Dougram (1981). Poor character designs and unimaginative background technology meet the most plausible mecha designs of the era and a mature, cynical space-politics storyline.

Any anime or manga recs that are slice of life character driven comedies disguised as anything else? I can’t handle any more high school girls. I’m a grown ass man.

It feels like every one of these is either the first 6 issues of a thousand issue series (bleach, Gintama) that collapses into a battle manga or is one piece (I got to chapter 80 give me a break) that was always a battle manga.

Zom 100 (the first 10 episodes or so) felt like this. Trigun (the first show at least, stampede doesn’t exist) handled it okay. Dungeon Meishi is the best example of what I mean.

Give me a “Honda Super Cub” with call center employees or Nichijou focused on the teachers, or even fuck it, I’ll even take one that does take place in highschool so long as there’s a decent mix of characters; love is war for example.

Strike Witches is the worst military anime ive ever seen. In terms of military anime, with Girls und Panzer being perfection, Gate being so shitty its good, Strike Witches... is pretty stupid.

Random nudity abounds, full tiddies with nips in view, for no reason at all. It actually pisses me off because of how off-putting it is compared to the rest of the show. The enemies... are shit. They're robots that don't even talk, they just want to destroy the world idk. Also all the girls are lesbians. Men basically aren't even allowed to talk to them canonically.

As for the action... not enough. I get Gonzo made this, animation is more of a suggestion, but they also made the first season of Full Metal Panic. There is not enough shooty shooty bang bang to compensate for the issues above. GuP at least gives you multiple episodes of tank battles to make up for the shitty plot.

Overall I'm disappointed

Avoid reading Ender's Shadow.

I always wanted to make a meme how 12 year old me thought how show with mostly male cast were great while shows with mostly female cast were girly, and 24 year old me thinking how shows with mostly male casts are gay while shows with mostly female cast are hardcore.
