Man I thought we were going to switch to updates on the fish in-between seasons, not essays about whether or not Tayleigh is an epic Nazi.
They're all in transit or settling affairs when they get home. Don't expect anything out of them for the better part of a week or two. I'm surprised Greg was able to start streaming right away more than anything, but he wasn't put through the ringer like most of the fish who are just burned out, Greg just hanged around and drank like it was a frat house. Trish getting eliminated and just being allowed to hang with her friends as a freeloader restored genial nature and she was back to giggling and laughing all the time by the finale, Tay and Shinji on the other hand were sick and mentally run down by the end of the show and I bet they will probably just need the better part of a week to just decompress considering that they threw so much into the show only to not win the prize.

I have to say I enjoyed season 2, just as I enjoyed season 1. Both had days where I mostly tuned out due to losing interest, though I kept reading this thread which at times was as if not more entertaining than the show itself. Sure there's plenty of stuff that could have gone better, it's especially sad that Jets taste and the audiences taste differ quite a lot, but what can you do. I'm sure it's quite a bit harder to run that whole thing than I as a watcher would think, I kinda understand the wigger crew being fed up towards the end even though it might seem unprofessional to me.
Fishtank is like a lot of Sam Hyde stuff to me, it's like 50% of his output I don't get at all, but then there's stuff that'll make me laugh years down the line when I randomly remember it, and there's some bits and sketches of his that get referenced by me or my social circle regularly.

Not that anyone cares, but I'll share my thoughts. I still think it was better than S1. The house and cast were superior, making up for Production's laziness and poor decisions. Granted I only closely followed S1 the first 10 and last few days, so someone glued to both seasons will have a more objective opinion. The first half was unambiguously excellent. I thought Brian's elimination was lame, but it didn't ruin anything. Things started to decline after Jimmy departed the second time. The last two weeks were bad, especially after Trish was eliminated but didn't leave (lol). Greg stopped this period from being completely awful and became a huge highlight. Wouldn't have made nearly the same impact if he came in while the show was still in its golden age.

The finale had some good things going for it but was mostly a disaster for me. I loved what they did to the house and some of the challenges were good. But from the night Tay got molested onwards, I was struggling with getting MATI. I did get MATI, in fact. I feel like they did Tay dirty and I really don't understand why. TJ was strong and deserving of the win to an extent, but the fact that they cloaked his positive attributes in a bullshit narrative about self-improvement rubbed me the wrong way. Even with the curse catastrophe and some challenges being misjudged, he still won the most or close to it.

With a few days having passed, I'm no longer seething. I was even tempted to send Tay a message of condolences but she doesn't seem too resentful (or she's putting up a good front) so I don't see the need. Nothing to be gained from engaging with these weirdos anyway. Production has a lot to learn but paypigs and people who only watch clips have no complaints so they will surely dismiss all criticism. I will most likely tune in for the first few days of S3, but I doubt I'll ever get this invested again. I watched dozens of hours (passively or actively) of the streams and I got a lot of lulz out of it. As time passes, the memory of the disaster that was the final three days will fade. Good for me as I'll be able to appreciate the show more, but bad for the show as Production could benefit from some self-reflection and engagement with the audience.

Edit: Forgot the most important thing: Nifty is my nigger and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

Cast was excellent, but the Freeloaders may have been the real highlight. Loved Nifty, Danye, and Greg. Danye somehow managed to maintain a good role despite being there for ages. No idea why Oliver was there so long, but he didn't get in the way so who cares. I still don't know who Alex Stein is but he was a nice change of pace. Tai was the man, just like last season. I was sad to see him go, which is how it should be with freeloaders.

Fatty and Frank both contributed something, but they're just a crutch. If they keep coming on, Fishtank will become too formulaic. They should be there no more than 3 days at a time. Though after molesting Tay I'd be fine never seeing Frank again. She doesn't seem to care so I won't be getting mad on her behalf, but the guy is scum. Any of his videos show this. He can be funny, but still scum.

(13:50 if it doesn't start)

I'm still very curious about this conversation that Sam had with Chris, I really want to believe it was just him manipulating Chris to trust him and stay on. Sam wants to give advice to young men but also wants to avoid the Internet Dad stuff, but this is him playing exactly into that with someone who can't be helped. Chris is never going to be healthy, productive, likeable or the type of person people would want to associate with. Past the single boxing """"exorcise"""" session they had it is impossible to see Sam trying to keep him on a rigid schedule of anything to keep him from deteriorating even more, even if say Sam bought him the workout bike that Chris kept pretending to want to get. I understand Sam is actually sympathetic to people around him, we see it in his emotional reactions to eliminations last season or the finale, when Tay was eliminated, but he's not completely stupid to the reality of garbage people.

I just can't figure out if this is him trying to maintain his relationship for future FT content, falling for Chris's routine with people who try to help him, pure manipulation or genuinely feeling bad. Right now I'm with him just trying to undo the damage of what Tay said to him, which was the real truth of it, and keep him around as their personal punching bag while maintaining the demeanor of "deep down we really like you and want you to stay part of the team". This is just a hard to read situation to me.

Sam can't figure out what he want to be seen as week to week. That's why you see so many conflicting behaviors. That's why people think he's elusive. Fishtank has sort of exposed his thought process. I've seen him struggle with multiplication. Yet, he went through that weird MENSA phase. I don't dislike him or anything. But I think he's more of a mess upstairs than people realize. I think he took so long to do standup because it's revealing.

Following MDE and Sam for so many years actually getting to see him think in real time during streams and on Fishtank removed any notion of him being a secret genius. He's a great comedian super funny guy but he's probably just above average in intelligence.

This is why I'd rather have the sharks back in being a faceless antagonists and Jet and Co so back into the basement and only come out to give challenges and cig deliveries. At least then Jet can just sit in the basement and smoke like he wants to.
Its also just confusing for anybody on the outside who are just tuning in. Its bad for marketing if I don't know whos in the contest and why other people are there. with the shark uniforms it makes an easy contrast compared to the fish of who's sticking around. also adds a small amount of intimidation too.

Weird take on this Sam needs to take more ideas from people Fishtank was kinda ripping off from the popularity of Squid games when it came out, which is really smart from a creative perspective because its not only marketable but it cuts down the time of thinking out how the show will be set up I.e. helpers on the show are dressed in coustume like the tv show to help them not show any human biases. season 2 technically had a "theme" but it was kind of generic "70s" "cult stuff" its just a theme not a structure. the original Fallout games were completely unoriginal with a lot of designs and stories, but its how it was used that made them so memorable. it also really helps if you use IPS that are older than 20 years or that are really underground to keep it fresh.

I think he's also very strong willed and very good on his feet. Alot of his comedy comes on the spot instead of in a writers room. his best works I think when he comes up with charicters that are observations of the people around him.

Dudes rant does not explain why she kept knitting for her "based black comedian" Charleston after his rapey comments towards her. The fact that she even recognized that nigger as a fan is cringe.

She understood that Charleston was just trying to get her riled up as part of comedic routine. Watching S1 gave her the understanding that Freeloaders were there to fuck with them and some had specific roles to play like Frank who came in as a bully, which is why she was so hostile to Britney because she kept noticing Britney switch between a crazy bitch and 'uwu i'm a poor vulnerable girl' which is why she warned TJ and Jimmy to keep away from her. Charleston just came in laughing and cracking jokes while getting hazed by the TTS the whole time so he was never a serious threat in her eyes, but she still was wary and kept her eyes open in the bunk until he was taken away by Jet.

I also struggle to understand what Sam is doing there, in the larger sense.

I saw a compilation of clips that was pretty good today. Part of it is Frank messing with Chris, tickling him in the bar and falling down. Frank has a small moment in the aftermath where it is pretty clear on how he views Chris.

Frank understands that Chris is full of shit, I expect Sam is also aware, along with everyone in Production who needs to deal with him. Sam and Production do set Chris up as the butt of the joke. I know Jet has said in a pep-talk that Chris would usually laugh along when he was in a better mood. So he is deflecting a little, while acknowledging that they engineer situations for Chris to humiliate himself for entertainment. Yet, they push Chris too far a lot. Like Tay pointed out too, production wants the Fish to fuck with Chris to a breaking point, for him to freak out. They want Chris to humiliate himself. Not a nice thing, but I think that its usually just Chris' general stupidity that keeps him going. I don't see how Sam can have a genuine desire to help Chris, when the Fishtank is such a chaotic place for him, designed to break him, over and over. To be fair be bounces back, and his freaking out is genuine, but very exaggerated.

I can't even settle on if its cruel to put Chris in the tank. His many outbursts are often petty and closer to tantrums. He is overreacting to minor things. He is playing things up for sympathy a lot. Its somewhat confusing weather there is some genuinely abusive stuff going on, or if its Chris being a big man-baby aspie. I'm barely convinced he even thinks, like has sentience at all. He will just string along some barely-related phrases and stories at times. Things that sometimes just don't make sense. Closer to schizophrenic word-salad than speech.

If Sam thinks he can save Chris he is pretty deluded. Chris will just say whatever he thinks a person wants to hear in the moment. Whatever Chris actually thinks is an enigma. I am not convinced I have ever heard him speak truth. So all this, 'yeah we will train, I need to do it man' is just garbage. Chris wont and Sam will waste his time.

You guys remember the backlash from Charleston coming on? People who legitimately thought he was going to rape Trish on camera in front of thousands of people? lol

Never thought he was a threat that night ofc, I just think it was spineless of her to just act like he didn't say anything.
