it shouldn't have surprised you. Zeihan is a uber-liberal. its just that he didn't let his views override what he saw in geography, history and demographics. On those fundamentals i think he is pretty good but he has big blind spots in regard to US politics and immigration and such.

The thing about free trade and the modern inter connected world economy is that yes, it might be monetarily cheaper to get what you want with trade and commerce than war. But money isn't the only thing that matters. Honor, respect, power, dignity, faith, family, ancestry, convictions, ideology... all of these are things that alter the value of a transaction beyond money alone.
Yes Russia could probably be a bit richer if they just played along with the globohomo world order, but Putin and his autocrats don't see the loss of autonomy and control as a worthy trade for that extra money. And as luck would have it most regular russians aren't exactly willing to trade the devil they know for Netflix and McDonalds to come back when the trade off might be infinity migrants and drag queen story hour.

Trump reciprocated in kind. When Wagner attacked American forces in Syria he ordered everything be fire up to send those vodka mongols back to hell where they belong. We knew the Iranians were targeting Americans in Iraq and Syria using proxies, we caught the commander of the IRGC in Iraq and Trump swiftly ordered a drone strike once it was clear no civilians were going to be harmed to tell the Ayatollah we know where and when his men are at all times. When Syria crossed Trump's red line he ordered missile strikes on Syria and Syria never crossed red lines for the remainder of his term.
He never risked war with anyone but he made it clear if you fuck with us we will fuck you right back harder than you thought was possible. He knew with Russia, China, and Iran he was dealing with tyrants and they only understand shows of force.

I don't get it. What you're saying about that episode and what that tweet is saying are two different things.
The biggest tricking time bomb for the American left is the ticking time bomb of the black American community discovering the replacement theory in person. This same group of democrats gave free permission to riot and loot, now openly marching for Hamas. Law and order SVU quickly did an anti-BLM episode.

They're Marxists -- Post Modernists. Their morality is power dynamics based, and they only see things in terms of power dynamics. Israel is white and thus has all the power, so they're evil. Gaza is brown and thus has no power at all, so they're good. Everything Gaza does, up to and including mass rape, is thus inherently acceptable, and literally nothing Israel ever does in response can ever be ok. Since they're demoralized, literally no outside data can ever change this belief.
The irony being that the Jews helped cause this entire situation by pushing this shit on the West. But the Jews were playing with things they had no idea about, not long term. From what it sounds like they have finally realized their golem is no longer obeying them, however, so who knows -- hopefully pulling systemic support will kill the golem stone dead... but who knows?
