George RR Martin, his fanboys, and former fanbase

I thought about how Westeros is similar to Warhammer Fantasy setting. Both are medieval dung age with magic somehow being incredibly potent and unheard of at the same time.

WH at least has the excuse of being a setting of a board game and while everything below Europe might as well not matter, at least other races gets their stories. SoIaF goes "oh those uppity Euros Americans think they only matter, but other empires exist", but as far as the story goes only Westeros has things happen and it needs to handle the apocalypse alone.

Also I like reading old WH books with past lore, while SoIaF past is just the same secession wars only with the sides changing for dramatic irony.
At least in Warhammer, doing magic wrong gets you eaten by/turned into literal demons from hell. There are very good reasons to clamp down on that shit as hard as necessary to stop more Mordheims from happening.

Arya is still a kid in the books so she's not having sex in the story. But in the show, she did because the actress already was an adult.
I still have a hard time believing that gremlin was an adult.
Martin is just lazily avoiding the obvious conclusion to his plotline after the entire internet guessed it.
I keep reading this, but as I'm not a GoT fan, I don't get it. Is this the shit ending the show had that everyone hated/coped about?

GRRM made a beginning of year post which is just making excuses as to why he isn't writing TWOW. Some excerpts:

"There is war everywhere. Ukraine and Gaza dominate the news, but there is a war in Myanmar as well that our western media just ignores, things are heating up in Yemen and the Red Sea, North Korea has nukes and is testing missiles and rattling sabres, Venezuela is threatening to annex three quarters of neighboring Guyana."

"Meanwhile the US grows more polarized every day. Hate is rising, democracy is under threat, millions of Americans have swallowed the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. Newspeak has taken over political discourse, cancel culture is destroying lives and careers, and we have a disgraced, indicted, venomous ex-president winning primaries despite openly declaring that he will be a dictator on day one and will govern on a platform of “retribution,” when he is not busy grabbing women by the pussy. His last attempt to overthrow the government failed on January 6, but some of his more ardent supporters are now saying that “next time” they will bring more guns. There are actually folks out there wanting civil war."

"It is hard to escape the feeling that we are living in the Weimar Republic."

"I am famous and I am wealthy and, supposedly, I have a “big platform.” Whatever that is. But I have grown more and more cynical about this supposed “power” that people keep telling me I have. Has anything I have ever written here ever changed a single mind, a single vote? I see no evidence of that. The era of rational discourse seems to have ended."

"And don’t get me started on immigration. We are a nation of immigrants, yet millions of us have now decided we hate immigrants… refugees dreaming of a better life who are no better or worse or different than our own ancestors."

Just say you're not going to finish the book, George. This hits so many boxes on NPC bingo it's not funny.
What a blathering imbecile. Just admit that you're gonna die before writing the last two books, and you'd prefer that outcome ya lazy diaper load.

Martin has been ranting about Republicans and their evil ways on his blog since Bush was in office. I remember him shitting on Bush voters and having to begrudgingly walk it back.

There is really no way to know if the show ending is the actual ending exactly as planned because of the many changes. The show doesn't have characters who are becoming important players in the story. Like, without saying much and beware of spoilers if you haven't read the books, another Targaryen shows up in book 5 (real, fake, doesn't matter): this Targaryen landed on the Stormlands and it's moving north and Dorne is looking for an alliance. This doesn't happen in the show because the Targaryen was never cast and neither was Arianne, the Princess of Dorne, the actual protagonist of the Dorne subplot. Then Euron had other two brothers (Victarion and Aeorion) that didn't get cast either and I'm sure there are more I don't remember now. So, unless they all drop dead at some point in the story and only the Stark kids survive, the ending is definitely not the same.

Now, there have been sooo different online guesses of how the books are going to end, so it's impossible to know who got it right. This is a "typewriter monkeys" situation. Maybe someone actually guessed right among all the guesses that you find online, but who knows who.

Lazy entitled cunt.

Pretty much every ending story beat is spelled out in advance by either too much foreshadowing or not really having anywhere to go without being pointless and anti climatic. The best example is Dany going crazy and burning down King's Landing, which makes sense for book readers but not show watchers, and resulted in a massive backlash. And this is really the only major difference for a main character between adaptions.

Issue with the new characters post book 2 is that they are all uninteresting and unlikable so nobody gives a shit about them, and it's clear they mainly exist to pad the books. Also I disagree with too many online guesses, major story beats are completely expected - Jon gets revived and fucks up to the north in the end, Bran becomes god king, Cersei gets killed by Jaime who probably offs himself immediately after, Sansa becomes a Yass Slay Queen, Arya gets an empy revenge. At most the epilogue will be slightly different. Like Arya going back to the free cities rather than stay.

Get the fuck outta here lool

Reminder that they put George Bush's head on a spike in Game of Thrones and went out of their way to make a Bush prosthetic head for a one second shot.

Dany's alleged madness is not set on stone for book readers. And in fact when the scene was aired, many book readers, including myself, recognised that plot to belong to Jon Connington, due to foreshadowing. He's the one with a plot leading to burn down KL.

Issue with the new characters post book 2 is that they are all uninteresting and unlikable so nobody gives a shit about them,
Arianne, Victarion, and Griff are in fact quite liked. We still haven't seen more of them for obvious reasons, but people were quite surprised when Victarion wasn't cast considering he's the one sailing to Dany. He's a fan favorite among the new characters.

Arya is still a kid in the books so she's not having sex in the story.
I have some very bad news about a leaked Winds of Winter chapter that might unironically be part of why George refuses to publish his fucking book

Yeah, I know. But it's not the same as what happened in the show.

It's funny that the series took so long it started when global cooling was still a thing and will probably not end/GRRM will die before global warming trend dies.

It's not set in stone but it is repeated enough in the books that when it happened on TV I wasn't surprised. Plus the trend with her in general is that she's a shitty conqueror that causes more harm than good.

I had to google them since I forgot they existed. I found Dorne to be the absolutely most pointless plot thread in the series. While fire arm pitate was at least entertaining, but kinda pointless since his entire quest is finding another character that already fucked off.

Was it leaked? I thought George posted it on his blog. And it was only part of the chapter I think?

And

Arya doesn't have sex in it, she is posing as a 13 year old prostitute to get close to Raff the Sweetling so she can stab him. Although iirc what George posted ends with Arya fondling his junk through his pants, about to pull her knife out with her other hand. Never change, George

And

George wrote 13 year old Dany graphically getting fucked by Drogo multiple times and learning she's mpreg on her 14th birthday at the very start of the first book, so I dunno why he would refuse to publish now because another 13 year old very popular main character is doing the sex stuff with a man ~20 years older than her

The entire Dorne plot thread is 1) give Dorne something to do because it'd be weird if every Great House but the Martells gets something to do and 2) George gets to write more about hot slutty women with one hand (Arianne, half the Sand Snakes, the Fowler twins - implied lesbian twincest threesome with Nymeria Sand, yay!, etc.)

That was published back in 1996 (oof), and it was a different time. People understood that the tragedy of Dany's character was that she was sold this young to fulfil the delusions of her insane brother. In any case, any positive reaction of her was her coping to survive, not to say that her situation was much better than the average Essos girl. Getting fucked by a nice savage made her a "Queen" and that was better than being kidnapped by the savages to be sold as a prostitute for the rest of her life.

Now, you have people saying "you can't write that! it's exploitation!!!" despite, yes, it's exploitation and it's meant to be portrayed as such and just because Dany tried to make the best of her situation, it doesn't mean the author agrees with the situation being positive.
