An 18-year-old JEE aspirant died by suicide in Rajasthan's Kota on Monday and left a suicide note for her parents stating that she was unable to do JEE. She took the extreme step two days before her examination.

This is the second suicide in Kota in nearly a week and overall this year.

The victim, who was preparing for JEE Mains, hanged herself in the room of her house in the Shiksha Nagri area of Kota. Her examination was scheduled to be held on January 31.

In a suicide note recovered by the police, Niharika called herself "the worst daughter" and said it was "her last option".

"Mom and Dad, I can't do JEE. So, I am committing suicide. I am a loser. I am the reason. I am the worst daughter. Sorry, Mom and Dad. This is the last option," the note read.

On January 23, a student from Uttar Pradesh, who was preparing for NEET through private coaching in Kota, died by suicide.

The student, Mohammad Zaid from Moradabad, was aged 17 or 18. Zaid who was living in a hostel and enrolled in NEET coaching in Kota, was found hanging in his room. No suicide note was found.

Kota, known for its coaching institutes for engineering and medical entrance examinations, saw 29 student suicides in 2023. Authorities are urgently trying to tackle the mental health issues faced by students in the high-pressure academic environment of coaching centres.

This seems like an Indian problem. They should get their best minds right on it. Someone, figure out who sets up the scam call centers.

the catch being you have to be 160 iq and deathly dedicated to getting the top marks
These are the people who should be getting a university education, since they will actually get the benefit of it. The dim and the indolent don't need to be gumming up the university system.

It gets even worse when you understand that Indian "college" is basically the same level of education and academic rigor as an american high school diploma. That is when it isn't just an outright scam school diploma printer.
Can confirm. Hired an Indian guy with an engineering degree and he doesn't know ohm's law or know how to use excel.

Did you hire him as an H1B? Those guys are really shady. I've heard stories of them pretending to be each other to cheat in interviews.

Otherwise its a life on the streets for you, no respect no money scrounging for food. Unskilled labor gets you literal pennies unlike the first world, poor people are either the result of terrible lifestyle choices or they literally dont get anything. The children who are usually more suicidal and forced into the system are the children of the poor, not the rich. Even I make less money than people abroad on an hourly basis and Im a fucking university grad with a bachelors in computer science, I make 3.5 dollars an hour 8k a year. Getting into a better university generally means you get a better job right out the gate, people who get into the IITs (Indian Institute of Tech, you gotta clear JEE and JEE advanced, its supposedly the best university in the country, people are trained in sweatshops to get in) you get a 60k a year job at 23 24.

Yeah. I wasn't in the interview, but some of the guys in it say he seems like an entirely different person. Wonder if it was audio only?
He's doing some shady shit like not telling us he's in a (US) master's program and missing half a day a week over it. (Dunno how the hell he's passing that. Guy is borderline retarded). Would've already gotten fired, but we just fired another pajeet and the manager doesn't want to get called racist by HR.

Since we got a qualoofied shitposter Q&A, how important is this test?

Does Jee separate rich indians from poor toilet cleaners? Is there no middle class or skilled labour jobs, just the lowest and highest positions?

Another question:

I figure caste plays into it, and thus high caste sons really need to perform well, is it same for female pajeets? I know the daughter pays dowry so how does it all come together?

Pajeet my son your skin white like Ghee, not brown like poo, you go off to Jee.

It's just an exam. Nothing so complicated. Sort of like an amped up version of SATs so they can filter out a lot of people. The rich have private colleges. JEEs are for those kids who are willing to destroy other parts of lives for their studies. It's the reason most Indians have piss poor social skills, no hobbies and no life. It's a corporate drone factory that spits out the perfect(tm) worker.

Quite, its essential for Engineers and its pretty much like the SATs which somebody else mentioned. But people are more obsessed with university as a concept here and you cant get employed without university (except probably cashier, military and construction). Considering Engineering is the most prized part of educational institutions outside of medicine and law, I would say pretty damn important. Borderline essential.

Rich poor are not proper qualifiers anymore cause we have affirmative action. It doesnt map onto rich and poor classes that accurately considering there is a disproportionate amount of wealthy people from what the government calls "lower caste" due to grievance grifting and politics. But most of the poor are also technically in the same category based on statistics. Fair to say the examination itself just dictates the quality of the university you get, the quality of the university dictates what kind of job you get and what they call "package" which is the base income+additional benefits+stock options etc. There is a middle class and skilled labour but even that has strata cause there is a difference between being employed at microsoft for 50k and being employed at a startup for 10k for your job straight out of uni.

The affirmative action reservation system works like this, each demographic has a certain mark threshold for qualification. If they cross that mark threshold then theyre eligible for a 'seat'. A 'seat' is a reserved position inside the university system for said demographic (women get 20% reserved seats everywhere by government mandate), its basically like forced admittance. Within that if there are too many people in said demographic competing for the same number of seats then they cut the fat by academic ranking. If you want an example, imagine every ivy league school mandates that every years intake must be 20% black or female then makes their SAT requirements say 1000 compared to white mans 1300 requirement, so all the black aspirants who score above a 1000 are eligible for an ivy league school, if there are too many then they take the top students by academic ranking to fill that 20%. Its basically that. Also women are still educated, that dowry shit is going away and for good reason, its even embarrassing as a guy that the girl is going to pay you to get married to her. Why would you want what is basically indentured prostitution.

I am not American, so I'm just curious about India. From a smell safe distance.

In Hungary, most of your opportunities are determined by nepotism, with a secondary role for your networking skills. Your education is tertiary unless you want to work for a big western corpo.

The third (or first, depending on sources) richest man is Orbán's high school buddy. He is a plumber turned businessman. On his success, when asked how he got so rich, he said, as one of his company's shares increased by 6000% in one year, much better than Facebook. "I'll be just smarter than Zuckenberg!" he is worth 1,3-1,7 billion dollars. He is richer than the Queen of England was or the Queen of Terfland, Rowling, is.

Know people, get hired for jobs. Your credentials don't matter. A plumber did in a decade what a minimum wage worker would need to work for 150.000 years to get.

Would have thought in India your ancestry and caste play a larger part, but my information is outdated and second hand.

Getting hired here comes down to two things, age and professional qualification. If youre older your chances of getting hired are less and if they hire you they check all your educational/work qualifications. Currently the minimum standards is a graduate degree if youre in your 20s, if youre in your 40s they expect a masters degree in something related and at least 5-10 years of job experience. Plus industry certifications sometimes, if that matters to them. Nepotism and connections becomes necessary at some point cause the sheer lack of job availability forces one to seek out anything and everything to the point people dont see nepotism/connections as something bad, rather something which lets you get a leg up.

I know you're not supposed to laugh when the topic is as touchy as this but...
"I suicide. I am Loser. I worst daughter"
Yeah, they corrected the grammar in the article, but left the picture of the note in its original Engrish right there...
