My autistic hyper-literal mind thought the balloon priest and the cop guy were kinda cheating as the moments without context weren't really dark IMO as it was ominous and cop dude was basically a PSA. It does become hella chilling with context.

Also I could do without the retarded dramatic pauses.

Nitpicking aside, pretty good video. Although I did think he pussied out when covering the news segment with the guy jumping into Niagra Falls in the background.

He doesn't want the video demonetized or strikes against his channel. YouTube is very anal about this now. You see people saying "unalive" instead of kill. Even some Reddit reader channels say "am i the jerk" instead of "am i the asshole".

Not to play devil’s advocate or anything, but regarding true crime/spooky content YouTubers censoring language a la Lazy Masquerade, I think that is the fate of all channels like that. They’re constantly getting demonetized and shadowlisted for “glorifying violence” and “misinfo” and all manner of stupid reasons despite them trying so hard not to do that. Advertisers are also apparently not as willing to appear on such content, even though Investigation Discovery (for example) doesn’t have an issue getting commercials. I used to keep my TV on that channel when we had cable.

So unless YouTube decides to stop being retarded (won’t happen) OR YouTube decides to just ban this content altogether to "protect muh kids" or "stop violence glorification" or something, this is what will happen to every channel.

Granted I still think the censorship cringey and could be greatly lessened (i.e. Lazy Masquerade
again censoring the word depression).

Oh yeah he's been widely discussed in this very thread with the dreaded "essay".

Didn't know he outright got his monetization taken away. That sucks.

That said, he also has a secondary history channel that covers human rights abuses and horrific diseases through time. Wonder if that one got hit too.

I quite like Disturban too but I think YouTube has a case here. He videos are always relatively short, he retells crime stories found in online media and uses largely unedited photos from those media too (sometimes just one or two photos on a loop), and he doesn't cite the sources clearly. His own input, even compared to other True Crime channels, is very limited - I understand that that is the point of the channel and his narration and voice are the real draw, but this makes his content far less transformative than other channels, and YouTube has it out for those channels.

Compare Disturban to Lazy or Shrouded Hand or even DocumentingEvil who all retell real crime/historical stories, and his channel appears to have the least creative input by the content creator. You could use three articles on a case and ChatGPT and create a Disturban script, but I don't think you can do that that easily with a Shrouded Hand script. And that's a problem on YouTube in 2024.

Here's the community post : it's set to be coming out on February 9th at 9 PM EST & the next two after will supposedly be coming within this month. The show is confirmed to be getting a season two, so it's getting milked to the end of time anyhow.

YouTube has demonetized history channels for talking about WW2, saying it's glorifying Nazis. If the advertisers don't like WW2 documentaries then the history channel and things like it shouldn't have ever been a thing. JewTube is gay.

Speaking of bringing up, curious timing that Nick uploaded his video, then this one came up a few minutes later.

I think it's merely a coincidence though. It was a good video from a channel that had been mentioned once in this thread. Text-to-speech aside, it was a pretty good video.

I think it's more in line with what I wanted from the Nick video. As in moments that happened on TV as opposed to moments that are only creepy with additional context.

I suppose it's not as extreme as the other cases of natural disasters and hostage situations.
