Look, I admit I am not particularly knowledgeable about war tactics and strategy. I did not even know what a "pillbox" was until I read that post and looked it up. But even my limited knowledge gave me the impression that in a conflict, you use your resources on attacking targets that you will gain something from. As in, gaining a base of operations in a crucial location, or seizing a chokepoint like a bridge or something. Or maybe there's hostages involved, or a weapons factory at the location. That kind of thing.
So why, exactly, would a militia (with far more limited resources than an army!) use its weapons and manpower attacking a llama ranch in rural Colorado? Is it even explained in this fantasy? Or is it just taken as given that trannies are the center of the universe, so of course they'll be the main characters in a civil war?
