On my break right now. I’m still not watching until I get home (I will NOT be caught watching this shit at work), but it’s been spoiled enough for me to be “hyped”. I use that word very loosely, of course — I’m not excited for the last two episodes. I’m just eager to see how bad they could possibly be and finally be done with the show for some time.

By the way, pilot Charlie is still an infinitely better chad than this Charlie could ever hope to be.

Adam's ugly-ass twink face is why it should be a cardinal rule that when a character has a neat mask, that shit had better stay on every time we see them. Better designers than Viv have fucked up what the character looks like underneath the mask, so I don't knwo what the fuck she was trying to do.
Also, Alastor's perpetual lameness continues yet again with him trying to fight someone several tiers above him, promptly getting oneshot, then casually dipping out like it's meant to be a big deal when he returns. It's never really a good look for a character when the first time they fight someone who can actually fight back, they get easily smoked in the most bloodless, toothless way imaginable. His gentlemanly demeanor contrasting with the brutality he treats his enemies to is pointless when you just have him casually dropping F-bombs like anybody else.

At least she had the decency to have the mask stay on until episode 8.

Even Darth Vader's mask had to come off eventually.

I think thematically a mask can be removed, but only if the revelation of what's under it defines a characters motivation in the story. A decent example is Adam from RWBY. You have a cool collected operator throughout the series with a vengeance streak against humans for the sake of his people.

When you take the mask off, all he is is just a scarred branded psychopath with a vengeance streak against a whole race of people for his own sake.

Only recent good unmasking is Handsome Jack.

When I say pacing, I definitely add this into the mix as the whole months go by each episode, really killed it for me. We barely saw much character growth or change during these 8 episodes.
She's truly trying to escape the pilots main premise by writing around literally all of it.
I bet most Angel Dust fans wanted to actually see all the progress happen.

It's the missed opportunity. Instead of being insanely warped by the actions of her parents, twisted, he's just a generic asshole with a mask. At least the angel girl exorcists had interesting designs underneath. But Adam, he wasn't just left a prop, he became one.

You have Lucifer show up and start taunting him about stealing his wife, ruining earth, and it's like, okay, am I rooting for this twee bitch? Because taken in isolation without the random acts Adam being a dick to others....all of whom are demons and evil hellspawn, I'm not really caring?

Don't let it get to your head, Vivziepop. Your show has some problems.

it was shit with great animation/design and a couple of okay songs.

Everyone knows the true path to redemption is kamikaze attacks.

So anime inspired?

How the fuck do you ruin your own fucking main character this fucking hard. Honest to fuck.

I've heard Charlie was what Vivz thought of herself. Maybe the pilot. Series Charlie is probably closer to what a dumb twat she actually is.

So who else guessed that the Vees would do literally nothing important in season 1 because Vivzie always forgets about the antagonists she sets up? I'd be surprised if they do anything but continue shittalking Alastor from afar. The third bitch literally hasn't even done anything beyond singing that song at that meeting, what was that about?

Charlie going from an unprepared and naive but passionate young adult with a big dream, to a sheltered idiot who acts and is treated like a child makes me think it's almost exactly this.

I feel like they should have been the main antagonists of the first season before getting into the Heaven shit.

My guess is that Angel will voluntarily stay in hell to help other sinners repent.

Also, I'm not sure whether this is totally obvious or completely retarded, but... anybody else thinking that the person Alastor is working for might be Lilith? And the entire reason he was at the hotel was to back Charlie into a corner, cut a deal with her, and use his favor to have Charlie get Lilith to release the contract?

Just watched episodes 7 and 8. I enjoyed them, despite all the flaws. I liked Rosie, hope we see more of her.

Also not going to lie, seeing Alastor getting beaten like he did, when there was all this hype for how strong he was, was annoying, especially since he's one of my favorite characters (after Pentious and Nifty).

Glad to see that Pentious wasn't permanently killed off. Seriously though it's bullshit how anti-climactic that scene was. I understand they wanted to show how powerful Adam was, but it could have been done much better.

Also love the look on Emily's face when she sees him. Absolutely adorable.

The cussing is one of the things that gets me the most, mainly because of how out of character it is.

If my memory serves, she cursed only once in the pilot (“BITCH?”), and it was only because she had a moment with Katie. In this series, she seems to say “fucking”, and “asshole” out of absolutely nowhere to the point it’s actually jarring, just like Alastor saying, “Fuck you” to Lucifer.

Also, pilot Charlie wasn’t like your average millennial. She wasn’t constantly being babied by Vaggie. She was more of a pacifist, but clearly also wasn’t spineless and could fight if necessary.

Anyways, I’m gonna watch those last two episodes now. I can’t wait to be done with season one already.

This has been confirmed via leaks, but even outside of them, lots of people are theorizing that he's working for Lilith anyway. So yeah, whose leash he's on and why he struck a deal with Charlie is kind of obvious.
