People always keep putting the blame on the school's money maker(s) like football as it is an extremely visible target. Cause they absolutely refused to look at what their school districts' administration is spending on itself and maybe their teachers. Teachers especially will do this and do the "poor little me" act to obfuscate attention away from them. Since meritocracy is absolutely fucking verboten in the U.S. public education system since no one wants to be accountable. With only the sports programs and coaches giving a fuck as nobody likes no talent useless loser.

Problem is that schools that focus on sports programs tend to not give a shit about educating their students, creating a further dumbing down of the education process as student-athletes playing sports purely to get a free ride to college is actually quite fucking rare; especially given how sports scholarships can vanish in a heartbeat if a college player gets injured as far as colleges being ruthless in kicking out players who are of no further use to them on the field when they get hurt.

Not to mention that a lot of players, especially black ones, only fucking go to college because they have no choice if they want to get drafted, due to the way that college football is a defacto minor league divison for the NFL and the byzantine rules that the big three pro leagues have where you have to play in college for at least a year or two before you can even consider declaring for your sport's draft. To the point that the only people who DO stay their full four years are the people in sports for a free college education (and they tend to be subpar teams) or players who are not good enough for the NFL and tend to wash out of life after they graduate with bad grades and no real education because they only did the bare minimum to stay eligible academically.

And the later is a big thing for football/sports in general driven high schools. The jocks aren't getting an education because that gets in the way of them playing their respective sports, like football even if they want to learn. The ones who want to learn are also the ones who come from well off families and who probably have a college fund tucked away to use if they get injured and lose their scholarship/have to transfer to a less fancy school if they lose their scholarship to a big name college.

really

what about the first depression's origins make it impossible to have happen again

The reason the Great Depression is such a huge thing is not so much the cause (there had been several nigh apocalyptic crashes prior) but what made it especially fucked up is the fall-out and perfect storm of certain details that came after, several of which didn't exist during prior crashes.

1. The global economy was just coming together with America and NYC taking over the role of the financial capital of the world after it was in London for ages, so there were shockwaves across the globe when America's economy died and many countries suffered similar apocalyptic fall-out

2. The crash triggered the mother of all bank runs and that wiped out most of the banks in the US and having a cascade effect of causing people to lose their homes and facing ruin with the failure of the bank system.

3. The crash fucked up America's ability to keep loaning money to Germany, as part of a complex plan to prop up their economy so they could keep paying their war reparations, as France was determined to get their money no matter the harm it caused Germany economically and the German government were willing to destroy their own economy reducing everyone to sustenance level poverty to pay the reparations purely to shame the rest of the world for their cruelty towards the German people in hope of shaming them into waving the debt entirely, no matter how many people the German people destroyed as a result. Which in turn caused Weimer to backslide into the worst throws of the 1920s hyperinflation and paved the way for Hitler.

4. Finally, Herbert Hoover decided to be the world's biggest cunt and told the American people to drop dead and refused ANY sort of plan to help the people ruined by the crash or to help stabilize/protect the banks and financial institutes of the country that were on their death bed. With Hoover himself being cheered on by amoral industrialists who thought an economic Gotterdammerung would "cleanse the sin" out of the nation.

5. The economic crash was compounded with the Dust Bowl; which was a once in a century ecological disaster that damn near made the midwest uninhabitable and led to a massive exodus of residents in multiple midwest states to the east and west coast.

Should also note that point 4 (Hoover being a cunt) is why a lot of people are willing to give props to Bush for how he handled the crash of 2008, since Hoover did NOTHING whereas Bush, for all of the complaints made about him, knew SOMETHING had to be done to stop the bleeding whereas Hoover was quite willing to let the country bleed to death and not lift a finger.

No, I think having to tough out a rough economic patch is a lot better than the Great Depression 2.0 fantasies posted on here.

We've been doing that since the early 00s dipshit and the "rough economic patch" hasn't been "a couple of months" but 20+ years since the dot com bubble burst started us down the road to Great Depression 2.0, with no end in sight.

And the elites have been spamming heal, applying duct tape, and making everyone clap their hands to revive through pure force of will the economy to keep it going, especially after 2008's recession damn near triggered Great Depression 2.0 if not for Bush/Obama doing what Hoover refused to do, which was throw money at the banks and Evil-Corps that crashed the economy to keep them alive and by default, the global economy alive as a sort of zombie economy abomination.

And it's gotten to the point that they've long realized how to weaponize this shit (see Covid) and know that the rich will be taken cared of in our current zombie economy state. At this point, crashing everything with no survivors will be apocalyptic and probably create/if not kickstart the next phase of mankind in terms of utter and complete paradigm shift akin to WW1. But at the same time, we are at the point that shit HAS TO hit rock absolute rock bottom if only to allow us to finally fix shit and rebuild and purge the vineyards of the corrupt elite.

I
It's amazing how they're so scared of Iran because of whatever yet to be revealed Obama muslim bullshit, they're just going to hit things in Iraq and Syria because they know it won't do anything, especially with how much notice they gave about the bombers.

Meanwhile Joepedo looks even more lost, and it's clear the DOCTOR is there just to herd the sheep.

Guess we should at least be happy he didn't check his watch.

To further emphasize on how big the Great Depression was, Hoover did try to do something though apparently it ultimately wasn't enough and when Delano Roosevelt got into office and started all of his New Deal actions it arguably wouldn't of fixed everything on its own. There is a reason more then a few economists think the country entering into World War 2 and all the activity that occurred (as well as the opportunities in the immediate aftermath) due to that is what got the country out of the Depression.

Unfortunately these days utilizing a global conflict to intentionally or unintentionally get out of economic stagnation or decline would probably be potentially suicidal due to the wonders of modern warfare.

It's even worse now. a lot of money is in the form of imaginary earnings and the GameStop diamond hands meme triggered a margin call that, if it wasn't blocked by an emergency congress session, would've vaporized all of those imaginary earnings as the margin calls propagated through the stock exchange.

I just want to know how the people behind Biden think that recognizing Palestine won't totally piss of the Jews who would be the only ones who could help them pull off another fortified election.

Without the Jewbucks and the organization behind them the DNC has has zero chance of not fucking up the attempted 2024 steal.

Then we all get to deal with the fallout of a nice civil war because some behind the scenes pollster thought the Jews would back them 100% no matter what and convinced Joe that backing Palestine would be the way to go.

Our future is in the hands of idiots, morons and imbeciles.

FDR greatly prolonged the Greatest Depression with his New Deal and tax hikes to pay for his govt make work programs and especially his National Recovery Administration. At the best thing he could’ve done is the have the Fed govt get out of the way and do nothing, as the Great Depression will have ended on its own.

That’s propaganda from FDR’s campaign. In reality, Hoover started many of the interventionist policies that FDR later expanded and which prolonged the depression.

In the days following Black Tuesday, Hoover gathered business and labor leaders, asking them to avoid wage cuts and work stoppages while the country faced what he believed would be a short recession similar to the Depression of 1920–21. Hoover also convinced railroads and public utilities to increase spending on construction and maintenance, while the Federal Reserve announced that it would cut interest rates. These actions were collectively designed to prevent a cycle of deflation and provide a fiscal stimulus.
In early 1930, Hoover acquired from Congress an additional $100 million to continue the Federal Farm Board lending and purchasing policies. At the end of 1929, the FFB established the National Wool Marketing Corporation (NWMC), a national wool cooperative made up of 30 state associations.
Hoover proposed the establishment of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC). Though some progressives criticized the bill as a bailout for banking interests that was insufficient to address the economic crisis, Congress passed a bill to create the RFC in January 1932. The RFC's initial goal was to provide government-secured loans to financial institutions, railroads, and local governments. The RFC saved numerous businesses from failure, but it failed to stimulate commercial lending as Hoover had hoped, partly because it was run by conservative bankers unwilling to make riskier loans. The RFC would be adopted by Roosevelt and greatly expanded as part of his New Deal.
With the RFC unable to stem the economic crisis, Hoover signed the Emergency Relief and Construction Act, a $2 billion public works bill, in July 1932. That same month, Hoover signed the Federal Home Loan Bank Act, establishing 12 district banks overseen by a Federal Home Loan Bank Board in a manner similar to the Federal Reserve System. Hoover and Senator Carter Glass, another gold standard proponent, recognized that they needed to stop deflation by encouraging lending. Hoover was instrumental in passing the Glass–Steagall Act of 1932, which allowed for prime rediscounting at the Federal Reserve, in turn allowing further inflation of credit and bank reserves.
To pay for government programs and to make up for revenue lost due to the Depression, Hoover signed the Revenue Act of 1932. The act increased taxes across the board, so that top earners were taxed at 63 percent on their net income, up from 25 percent when Hoover took office. The 1932 Act also increased the tax on the net income of corporations from 12 percent to 13.75 percent. Additionally, under Hoover, the estate tax was doubled, corporate taxes were raised by almost 15 percent, and a "check tax" took effect, placing a two-cent tax on all bank checks. Economists William D. Lastrapes and George Selgin conclude that the check tax was "an important contributing factor to that period's severe monetary contraction". Despite the passage of the Revenue Act, the federal government continued to run a budget deficit.
In 1931, Hoover signed the Davis–Bacon Act, which required a maximum eight-hour day on construction of public buildings, as well as the payment of at least the local "prevailing wage". The following year, he signed the Norris–La Guardia Act, which banned yellow-dog contracts, created a positive right of noninterference by employers against workers joining trade unions, and barred the federal courts from issuing injunctions against nonviolent labor disputes.
Hoover was not a libertarian who just wanted “wait for the economy to naturally recover”.

WWII ended the Depression, not because war spending stimulated the economy, but because the government had to focus on fighting the war instead of centrally planning the civilian economy, and because FDR (and therefore his dumbass socialist policies) died before the war was over.

The "Hoover was a lolbert" meme needs to die as hard as "FDR fixed the economy" meme

There was a depression that could have been worse than the Great Depression in like 1920-1921 which the current President Harding stopped by doing nothing, creating the roaring 20s. Economies go through cycles and if there's a crash you just cut your losses and wait it out. The more you pump into a failing economy the longer it lasts.

Damn faggots and weed, but intervening in the economy to save it has always led to disaster. Hoover did it too, just not as far as FDR.

I don't know if it's this way in every state our county, but in mine, you cannot coach high school sports without being a teacher. I assume at one point in time the state education people thought they were killing two birds with one stone (not having to pay a teacher and a coach). Consider that being a history teacher is apparently the easiest teaching degree you can get. Now all the dudes who peaked in high school sports want to coach high school sports as their career (which is valid) but the only way they can do so 99% of the time is by being a teacher.

Therefore, a significant portion of all history teachers don't actually give a shit about teaching. There's exceptions to this (the best HS math teacher I had coached basketball and another one the swim team) but every single junior high and high school history teacher I had was also a coach and they sucked generally speaking.
athletes playing sports purely to get a free ride to college is actually quite fucking rare
It's actually a lot easier to get scholarships for things like marching band (plus you can always play an instrument) but the chances of you going pro or even playing on a MiLB or the new UFL leagues are astronomically low.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with sportsball (on the contrary it has benefits for the individual) but we really gotta start putting so much emphasis on sportball above everything else, especially for kids. "Oh you're a kid that prefers painting and cooking over throwing a ball around? Wow you're worthless!"

I went to a pretty big school that had room for multiples of every kind of teacher and if you were in a class taught by a coach it was usually cause you were a jogger, jock, stoner, retard or someone they just wanted to give that easy pass to or simply keep away from the smart kids. The coaches wheeled in the TV cart and played videos lots. We watched Forrest Gump in all kinds of subjects, it was topical you see.

The lack of self-awareness from biden calling trump a sick fuck is amusing
They don't care about self-awareness of lack thereof; they can say whatever they want whenever they want however they want. This is because they know that their hardcore voting base will still vote for them no matter how much they whine about Biden not sucking Muslim terrorist cock hard enough or not being left enough, and they know said voting base doesn't have strong cognitive skills.

Meatball's gay little Covid 19 Grand Jury he set up last year released their amazing findings that just reads "Covid was an unknown, it's sorta Trump's fault anyway, everything everyone figured out already is correct." Wow, such amazing winning there, Rob! And no one was charged with anything, so this was just a special blue ribbon panel of gay.
