The pros of Daniel going to jail:
- Having a roof over his head in the winter
- Having regular meals
- Being forced to take a shower with delousing powder
- Having clothes that don't smell like he pulled them out from a pile of roadkill
- There is a strong likelihood of some of his Reddit A-Logs getting themselves locked up thinking they'll get to harass him (they'll likely fail and will only have a criminal record to show for it)
The cons of Daniel going to jail:
- He'll likely get his ass kicked for trying to steal another inmate's food
- He'll probably try to squat in someone else's cell which will likely get his ass kicked
- He might talk about being a pedophile which will get him on more than a few shit lists
- He'll find himself in a situation where he'll scream "Try me bitch!" at the correctional officers
- He'll hit himself until he's bloody which will result in him being placed under suicide watch
- He might start crying if he gets roughed up, thus causing the other inmates to think he's a bitch
- He might start screaming the nigger word if he gets upset
- They may give him the Chris Chan treatment where they isolate him from the start and he comes out crazier than when he went in
There aren't a whole lot of pros here. You hate to see it, but some people never had a chance in life and Daniel's one of them. The rest of his life is going to be a vicious cycle of jail and being the A-Logs' plaything.
What people really need to understand is that Dan going to jail and all this shit happening (which I think you are correct about) would not be unusual or stand out in any way from what normally goes on in jail. There's loads of retards in jail, because it's cheaper and easier than putting them in group homes or other similar approaches. Like I said before, where does everyone think those cute drooling retard kids from the feel-good story at the end of the local news end up? They're never going to grow up, and it's way harder and more expensive to house, feed and keep control over a 28-year-old sped than an 8-year-old one. A family with a retard child can have a normal life and send the kid to day centres or respite care, but having an adult retard running around your home often isn't safe. The ones who don't die early from their conditions (Down Syndrome kids, especially the more severely affected ones, often don't live past 30) largely end up in jail, usually for the same kinds of things Dan is doing.
Dan, as a person, is not unusual. Every city has hundreds, sometimes thousands, of Dans waddling around, throwing tantrums, sleeping rough, stealing, fighting, getting trespassed. They go in to jail for a bit, then come out and continue to yell at cars and masturbate in public until they get thrown back in jail. The only thing that is different about Dan is the weens.
It's actually a bit sad to see many people experiencing Dan for the first time and saying "why didn't anyone help him prepare to be an adult", "surely he can't just sleep rough forever", "he should be in a group home", "they should just make him take his meds." Welcome to reality. This has been going on since Reagan (and Thatcher in my country) closed the asylums, though you could argue that crazy people yelling in the street have been a thing since mankind invented streets for them to yell in. The only real hope is that through watching the downfall of Dan (as well as Cobes, Cyrax and other people on the "homeless retard" pathway) is that they'll gain some understanding and empathy about how people end up there. Yeah, it's a shock the first time you find out someone's future is so hopeless. But if you've worked in that sector you get immune, maybe cynical. If you've ever wondered why social workers and the like tend to be a bit cold and emotionless, it's because the ones who get emotionally invested in the one-way downhill life stories they deal with by the thousands every year burn out and have nervous breakdowns. Only the cold, hard bastards are able to tough out one of the most depressing jobs on Earth.
