Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
So how does one usually pay this down? Can you pay some amount every month over a period of time? I'd be pretty suicidal if I owed 300k tho lol
In California a judgment accrued interest at 10%, and every 5 years you could 'consolidate' into one lump sum and then get interest on both the initial amount and the interest to that date. You can renew the judgment (if you wish to keep it active) after 10 years, then again for a total of 30 years.

A $300K judgment might mean you have to move to Florida and hide income and assets behind offshore companies, trusts, and shady lawyers.

I am curious how much, if any, Ty is actually putting into this. It's possible he is helping with the payments. The only way this would be redeemable in my eyes is if Ty just paid the fees for Vic, but if I was Vic and was left footing almost a million dollars for someone else's fuck-up, I would straight-up fucking murder Ty and Nick.

This may shock you, but an appeal, even if you win it, almost always goes back to the very same judge who fucked the case up in the first place.
So a shithead judge like Chupp could just increase the amount owed out of spite for someone DARING to disagree with his faggot ass? Joy, love the legal system.

The Vic case was a completely unforced error. Instead of doing the work and getting it in on time, Ty Beard instead just stroked his own ego and then attempted to submit everything at the last second digitally. But of course the government system didn't work and since he was trying to do it at 11:45 PM with 15 minutes on the clock, it's not like he could call tech support.

He also didn't go in person to get sworn affidavits, which was mind boggling, and Jamie Marchies lawyer was able to get all their SLAPP evidence tossed because it was not able to be admitted to the record.

Vic should be suing Ty for malpractice, right?

Considering the push it take from (shyster) internet lawyer Rekietta to even pursue the defamation action to begin with, I doubt it'll ever happen.
At least Vic got to see how much support he had from his community despite the grifters attached.
He started his own dubbing studio, didn't he?

Like that’s much of a consolation. He’s going to need to milk them for every penny in order to hope on paying this debt off. The guy is 61. The literal worse age for this to happen. Too young to not just ignore it and die before you pay anything back. Too old to realistically be free of this without massive fan support. He’s stuck in wage slavery

If not murder them, then murder their careers. Never let them ever see a courtroom outside of a bankruptcy or divorce hearing.

Exactly! The legal system is a really poor fit for a lot of situations.

Wasn't he part of a successful firm? If he was a lawyer for 20+ years, I would imagine he wouldn't get any business if he fucked over each and every one of his clients like he did to Vic.
A wills/trusts/estates lawyer is only in a courtroom when something gets fucked up. Assuming he's good at those things, he shouldn't have much experience with litigation.

Hiring Beard to do this case was like getting a heart surgeon to perform plastic surgery. It's a licensed surgeon, but it's no surprise when the patient comes out looking like the elephant man.

All the blame goes to the professional who dupes the sucker client into hiring them. I highly doubt Beard said "this isn't my area of expertise, but I can put in touch with the best," and Vic demanded to hire him nonetheless.

Not true, darling. Judge Chupp didn't decide that. Vic did.

Vic settled with Monica and Ron. He agreed to pay them and Sean Lemoine almost $400,000 at 18% interest. He couldn't even negotiate an NDA out of them.

Funimation and Jamie Marchi are still to come.

This is why you don't sue for hurt feelings and culture wars, poppets. Told you so.

PS. Please don't tell Josh, though. He deserves to learn this lesson the hard way.
Odds that this person weights at least 300lbs?

I will say this once again: Ty Beard writes wills and does deals. His day-to-day practice has as much to do with trial law as it does with brain surgery. The fact that he didn't realize that made me question his competence from the first time I heard about this case.

Or he was just in it for the money and thought this was an easy payday.
What did Vic in wasn't Beard's lack of knowledge around defamation.

His malpracticing ass literally didn't put in the effort to get critical, TCPA-defeating evidence into the record. He didn't zealously advocate for his client, plain and simple, and now his client is probably going to owe over $600,000 for his fuck ups.

That's what makes it infuriating. A newly barred lawyer knows to get his papers filed on schedule. A guy who's been working 20ish years would know better, which leads me to believe he simply didn't care.

However, if I were him, I'd be buying a fucking glock.
He seems more like a 1911 kind of guy.

I fear they will be rewarded until they are considered too far up the privilege pyramid and get replaced by a Bipoc.
There is some pushback by smaller entities and individual artists against localizers messing with their work, but the big players in Japan are now starting to involve localizers into their production process.
Japan doesn't mind taking Larry Fink's money.
ESG's foundation is starting to crack with the U.S. markets and nonstop Ukraine/Israel funding, so it'll be an interesting chain of events to see how this affects the global economies in the near future. Big companies like Disney are too busy gorging on their brownie points to see they've turned their true customers and money away, and while we're obviously not in "2 more weeks" territory, it's become a noticeable pattern with other companies' downturns. Add that with Kishida's bad reputation and you've got a potentially wild snap election of the decade.

My thoughts exactly. It gives me a ray of hope to see some fandoms still have big hearts and shed light within the corrupt dubbing and law industries. The harpies, Rickets and Beard can get fucked in both ends with a cactus.

Remember how much fun they had with that slogan? So much so they put it on a t-shirt.
