Nickelodeon is now going to follow up a meme from 2019:

The whole reason this became a meme in the first place was that Stephen Hillenburg died the December before the Super Bowl that year, and people wanted them to play Sweet Victory to honor his memory. Now that's it's this late there is 0 point in playing this other than a soulless cash grab. So absolutely nothing out of character for Nickelodeon™. In fact it was even worse at the time because they did a bait and switch where they showed a Spongebob animation at the start of halftime and then baited and switched into Travis Scott

Original halftime show

Normans seething about it

My bad I meant to type universal but put paramount. Can you blame me? All these companies are so creativity bankrupt they may as well hmbe one big buy n large/own all corp monster with its tentacles around everything under the sun.
Universal and Paramount are just such non-entities at this point that I cannot blame anyone for confusing them. For as much shit as we give Disney and WB, at least they are still brands people recognize and produce content that is worth talking about.

Paramount hasn’t done anything worth note in about 2 decades. Their biggest platforms were Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central, all of which were tanking way before Woke could even poison anything. As for their films, I guess they have their 500 Transformers movies that just seem to exist. Biggest IP is Star Trek, another IP that was seemingly on a downwards trajectory even before Stacey Abrahams became Queen of Earth.

Universal is a bit better, but they also suck. Their biggest IPs are Jurassic Park, Fast & The Furious and Despicable Me, all riding off good will from one entry to be bland, incoherent messes past that. Their streaming service has nothing besides the Office, a mid-comedy from the 2000s, and I guess Twisted Metal, which in and of itself is a show based on a long dormant IP. I will give them credit for being a little more open to try some weird stuff like MEGAN, but they really are the ultimate who cares? At least their theme park is cool.

Paramount distributes the Sonic movies, if that counts for anything. Both movies have collectively made just under a billion on their own.

It wasn't even a "meme" in the normal sense. It was a straight up bait and switch to get people to watch the superbowl. They kept implying and vaguely hinting they were gonna play it to pay tribute to Steve, and then the fucking thing happened and it was like 3 seconds of the original clip before cutting to Travis Scott. The backlash was legendary and it's fucking surreal to me some people are now forgetting this shitshow a few years later and just relegating it to "oh it was just some meme haha". Shit was like a spit in the face for people that tuned in for it, as well as the OG creator of spongebob. it should not have taken them five fucking years to "fix" it.

This year, the bait and switch will be Taylor Swift. We already know SpongeBob is a Swifty from the Eras Tour ADs.

I was there for it and remember. It was a thing that got thrown around on Twitter till Nick actually decided to do it. They even seemed to animate a new scene of Squidward just to pivot to Sicko Mode.

Yeah they clearly reanimated the part before the cutaway, the "hints" beforehand were just screenshots of the original so I wasn't sure if I was remembering that right or not before going back and checking.

I remember the Dallas Stars NHL team ended up playing the song during their halftime show after this happened.

They also produce and distribute Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop, and both were revived from the dead with one being a bigger billion dollar hit of 2022 and the other being revived for Netflix this summer.

Yea many sad and pathetic social media spastics are complete Swifties apart from liking modern SpongeBob

I had fun at a comic con recently and saw this:

Butch never had a big line the whole time I was at the con and the same with Billy. I guess the truth is out that they're both losers to varying degrees. Billy more so. Also, One of these things is not like the others.

What did Billy West do? I'm not aware of any drama regarding him other than John K and Howard Stern.

He molested his elementary school age nephew. The only reason why I know this is because I used to know said nephew. I have yet to find receipts or anyone else to come forward, sadly. All I have is some DMs I had from back in 2007.

Don Bluth had a bigger line than both of them, right?

Really? I met Billy in Atlanta and he didn’t seem the type of guy to do something so heinous. I never even saw a mention of anything like that at all.
