Speaking of actual good anime. Finished the Shangri-La arc in Gintama and it was kino. Way more dramatic than any previous arc but without losing its identity. It's surprising how much the action in the show can flow during a fight scene.

Yeah Gintama is fucking awesome. I think a big factor in this is how amazingly paced the arcs are in the anime minus the final one. Despite all of the shit that happens in these serious arcs, they never really crack more than 8-12 episodes. I'm way more invested in the crazy shit that happens in these short arcs than I've ever been in a long arc that overstays its welcome.
Are colored mangas any good, i ask this because i want to read parasyte and heard the colored version is good.
The One Piece colored mangas are extremely good and probably the highest quality scans of the series, they actually go pretty far stopping at around Chapter 1016. Good luck finding them though, there's a release on Nyaa but they use the Viz translations (Zoro -> Zolo, etc.).

Out of curiosity, why do you look down on Demon Slayer? It's average at best, I know, but it manages to do something right, even if it does fuck up especially more than a few times.
I just don't like having to watch a whiny little bitch of a protagonist going around lecturing people on how to live their lives and being always morally right despite being a hothead who picks fights with nearly everyone. If they removed him completely, my opinion of the show would shoot right up. The side characters were actually pretty interesting.

Other than that, it seems like it's constantly victim-blaming people for being pushed to the breaking point by Society and then getting turned into flesh-eating monsters against their will by a madman. It's to the point where someone develops a medicine that would cure the need of the demons to eat people...but she never entertains the thought of giving it to them...because they're evil...because they eat people. Except Nezuko, who gets the protagonist privilege benefit of the doubt every single time. To the point where that one scar Hashira is supposed to be irrational and a jerk for pointing out that said whiny little bitch MC is carrying around a flesh-eating monster that they're supposed to be killing.

Tl:dr Awful lecture-happy moral compass that begins and ends at the terrible protagonist who embodies everything wrong with shonen heroes.

Yeah, too many shonen gets bogged down in power levels and infinite plot lines. Gintama keeps the arcs short enough that they don't outstay their welcome and a lot of times what you think is going to be a short gig turns into an epic showdown. Still fucking weird every time to be reminded Amanto exist when 90% of the time it's everyone is human in anachronistic modern Tokyo.

Oh for Space anime Planetaes still holds up, the anime anyway. The anime somehow is far superior to the manga even with weebs larping with ninjas on the moon and anime original characters. It makes Hachimaki an actual character.

Don’t watch the dub, you’ll cringe at hearing diaper boy in English.

Yeah it gets touched on a bit later kind of but for the most part yeah the most you're getting with the Amanto is like Kagura and that barely fucking counts.

I've read the manga and did enjoy it. Does the anime deviate a lot from it ?

Is this the place to talk about Thunderbolt Fantasy, or is some idiot going to scream at me that it's not "real" anime ?
Otherwise, haven't really watched anything for some time. Need to pick something but cant decide.

Funimation is dead.

The manga makes Tanabe a lot different as she’s comedic and a bit annoying. The series is hard sci-fi, but really leans into Space Travel is a such a commodity it’s boring. It makes it a lot better when Hachimaki goes to be a big boy astronaut. The co-workers are expanded upon and Fee’s melodrama with her son is dropped. The fucking Indian guy and bald manager get very good character moments.

The anime only characters add a lot of depth and Tanabe in the manga ends up suffering nerve damage after rescuing a co-worker turned terrorist by suffering oxygen deprivation instead of leaving her to die. The co-worker is a complete anime original and she’s well written.

With the Solo Leveling anime, does this mean they would adapt other Korean manhwa into anime? And kept their Korean names?
Wasn't an anime adaption of Omnicient Reader's Viewpoint announced recently? I doubt they could change it, considering the amount of Korean historical figures that pop up.

Holy shit they doubled the cost? I don't think this is just for the FUNi subscribers, either, it's for everyone? How do we know Aniplex hasn't bought out Crunchyroll?

Get fucked. :story:
You don't understand. Keeping voice actors/actresses like Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial fat and happy in this economy bankrupts businesses. No one can afford D-list actors any more so of course customers have to pay more. That or the industry moves to AI generated voice acting.

I like Fist of the North Star and am hyped that's it's getting a 40th anniversary anime. I can not wait to eat my words on the former sentence because Warner bros Japan is doing it.

I'm not someone who cared for a lot of Funimation's output before or now and you won't see me looking back on Funimation with nostalgia but as someone who was an at most very casual and infrequent Dragonball watcher they used to have decent JP subtitles for DB. I'm sure that will be tossed out the window as Funimation is folded into Crunchyroll and it's $80/episode sweatshop regime.
