Hell, the yellow-star folks PAY for the privilege. DU is its own kind of schizo echo-chamber hugbox. No dissent from the officially approved Democratic Party line is tolerated. If a major Democrat official does or says something stupid, you're not allowed to point it out, and if one DOES say something, it's only to offer totally reasonable and lucid explanations as to why it was, in fact, NOT stupid. Any criticism of any major Democratic figure is quickly removed as violating their rules (oh, but they have a "jury" system of hive-mind users, so it's all so democratic).

DU is the OG lolcow of Web 1.0 websites.
They sure are. I used to get MATI at them, but when they get all nutty now I just laugh and point out the worst of it on here.

I love their TOS, you can't get much more to central committee of the politburo rules. The result are threads titled 'This may be controversial' then inside 'say but Biden is the best predicent in history!!!'

Do not post support for Republicans or independent/third-party "spoiler" candidates. Do not state that you are not going to vote, or that you will write-in a candidate that is not on the ballot, or that you intend to vote for any candidate other than the official Democratic nominee in any general election where a Democrat is on the ballot. Do not post anything that smears Democrats generally, or that is intended to dissuade people from supporting the Democratic Party or its candidates. Don't argue there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Do not post disrespectful nicknames, insults, or highly inflammatory attacks against any Democratic public figures. Do not post anything that could be construed as bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for any Democratic general election candidate, and do not compare any Democratic general election candidate unfavorably to their general election opponent(s).

Why we have this rule: Our forum members support and admire a wide variety of Democratic politicians and public figures. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but our members don't expect to see Democrats viciously denigrated on this website. This rule also applies to Independents who align themselves with Democrats (eg: Bernie Sanders).

"Uh, what kind of music do you normally have here?"

"Oh, we have both kinds -- country  and western!"

Those Boomers and early Gen-Xers are about as diverse in thought as a university sociology class.

I love this statement from your link:

"Constructive criticism of Democratic politicians, party officials, and public figures is welcome...."

Lol. LMAO actually. They may welcome it, but they rarely allow that any criticism is constructive.

(ETA: I do remember the huge intraparty knock-down-drag-out they had in 2008 between the Hillary faction and the Obama faction, and the PUMA acronym (Party Unity My Ass) that was introduced when the Hillary faction lost. The ardent feminists there were REALLY pissed off at the Obama-ites then, and a good number of their members, the Jackpine Radicals, left to form their own short-lived, even more progressive forum.)

"Members are not expected to hold across-the-board progressive opinions on every single issue, ..."

But you damn well better show 100% support for Ukraine (right until the moment a Republican president supports it). Actually, that could apply to almost any issue other than abortion. They hated the big banks and big pharma, for two instances, until they learned to love them (their big donos).

Can confirm. It was one of - if not the first Dem site to metamorph from "you can have discussion here" to "we will fucking napalm any who diverge from the approved party line." And unlike every other Dem site that this occurred for where it happened over time and often had distinct phases (DailyKos took about 2 years to fully mutate to the form most here are familiar with after Obama got elected), on DU it was pretty much fucking instantaneous after 2006. You could tell the exact second it happened too, because all content on the site other than the forums fucking stopped at the time.

DU basically presaged the fall of almost every similarly-leaning Dem site, speedrunning behaviors we'd later see across Web 1.0.

The opposite old school forum is Freerepublic. The sad thing is they actually had real people, even Hannity and Tony Snow were on there. But their rule went total bible thumping purge maniac for a long time, and it mostly killed it. It allows a bit more 'free' speech for sure than DU, but it's also basically a mini-cult as well.

These faggots cannot read the room at all, and look at the makeup sheen all over Joepedo to pretend he's not about to tip over. You should also stop putting him in places with a dark red background:

I thought this was AI at first. There's no possible way they're this braindead. Don't point out problems with the bread and circuses when you're in charge.

His publicity team really is the most retarded faggot brained part of this momentally incompetent administration. You'd think the "4th of July cost 0.17¢ less than 2020" dimwits would be Seth Riched for such an embarrassment, but this is subtly even more paste brained I'm sure they never left.

"Companies are trying to hide the impact of my soaring inflation, but I'm hear to make sure you know you're pay more!"

They're attempting the same thing the Libs up here in Canada are with little success. Strategy might work if came with more than simple bluster, but that would only exacerbate the inflation issue.

Also have to get a chuckle out of how long this "message" was - guess they can only keep him lucid now for about a minute at a time :story:

"4th of July cost 0.17¢ less than 2020"
I never understand his social media team. They genuinely thought that was some huge accomplishment. Sane people would have suggested a generic 4th of July message instead of economic savings unless it was over $4. Nope, less than 20 cents is big I guess.

Lets take this recent example: "Biden is calling on companies to stop shrinkflation." Okay? When has Biden 'calling on' anything in recent history accomplished anything? Is there any legislative plan here or is this just 'old man yelling at a bag of chips' ? It strikes a tone of being helpless and just complaining about the issue instead of fixing it. Yes, inflation is bad, but also, greedy corpo food companies posted profits this year and shrank portions under the partly valid excuse of inflation but theres no connecting the dots here. Theres dozens of ways to address this but they go with the most retarded option every time.

That is the most life-like they can manage, huh? Five second edits, a rather sweaty make up job, no other living beings to interact with, child-like messaging- big yikes, lizard people, you have a big job cut out for yourselves.

His comms team operate under the Obama/Daily Show idea of just straw man and bullying, pretending enough light shone on something means they'll wither. That used to be the case with GOPe and still is sometimes, but Trump showed call them fags first for things they have verifiably failed to deliver on, they lose their balance and are now on defense, and they can't play defense well, even with the media protecting them.

Jon Stewart returning to the Daily Show will highlight this very well, you can't bully people who don't care anymore.

I dont see anyone talking about the apps that were piloted that involved paying people to vote.

Jamal and Shaquisha wont stay at home if they are getting a 5 dollar gift card for every head they just need to "register to vote" / fill out mail in ballot with dems pre filled in.
I'm glad it's okay to buy votes when it's done for the right si(D)e.

I see Hillary told the admins in 2006 what they needed to do.

It's literally the same stupid thing they tried with the Gas Stations. "You're charging too much, don't!"

The reason they shrink portion sizes is because people don't notice or get too mad at a 20% reduction in what you buy. They DO get sticker shock at a 20% price increase. Worse, most things people are buying are already way, way, WAY past the 20% price increase level -- a bag of chips in my region is a little over 200% what it was last time I regularly bought them. And yes, they have a fraction in the container that they used to.

Of course, I'm sure some festering fucking retarded marxist in his admin wrote that little snippit, and they don't believe in money or reality in general, so... the magic kale fairy will just delivery infinite green stuff to the store, so there's no real reason for the store to charge that much -- if anything (which is why it's ok for random niggers to rob stores blind, we owe it to them cuz white guilt and all that).

Economics from people too stupid to know what bathroom to use, I love it.

You gotta remember that Biden and most of ther other politicians are in their late 70's early to mid 80's at least. To them, for $0.17 you can buy a tank of gas, supper with desert and have enough left over for a long distance phone call.

Not buy, Fortify. It's also fortification to go round nursing & other supervised homes and help the residents apply for absentee ballots then fill them in. The watchword for the 2020's has been representation, so what's better than having dementia patients represented by putting one in the White House.
