I know this is a hundred pages back but I’m catching up and wanted to mention this. Ovotestis (OTDSD) is THE rarest dsd, it’s basically what used to be called true hermaphroditism. It is possible to have both ovarian and testis tissue. Tissue highlighted because it’s NOT possible to produce sperm and eggs in one body at the same time. OT DSD is not a single cause, it can be various combos of chromosomes and very rarely (I think less than 1%) have actual proper chimeras of genetically distinct cells. As in two embryos perhaps fusing .
Now that’s a philosophical question more about what an individual but anyway… the tissues present always lean more towards one sex because of the influence of hormones. If there’s more male tissue, very early in, well before puberty, it degrades the ovarian tissue and the ovarian tissue of dominant degrades the seminferous tubules. Every if you remove all tissue of the type you don’t want at birth it’s incredibly rare to have any of what’s left actually function. Males almost never do - there’s been a couple of cases and a few more females (and I’m sure all the offspring are male which is weird as well.)

Anyway the point is that no you can’t make sperm and eggs. You can’t switch one to the other and none of it has any bearing on trannies anyway because the chromosomal abnormalities people with OTDSD have are as impossible for a Troon to get as straight up xx would be.
The mullarian du t tissue also has a pretty high chance of becoming cancerous if not removed. I have a lot of sympathy for anyone with a genetic disorder of development and I find it distasteful that troons have used these people for their own ends.

To elaborate on this, if the ovotestes are in the body a la ordinary ovaries, they cannot produce sperm cells. The testicles dangle below the body because high heat, including at normal body temperature levels, is bad for spermatogenesis.

But this temperature issue isn't just a recommendation. It's not like the testicle are merely less effective at producing sperm at body heat levels; no, spermatogenesis outright shuts down at those levels.

A man will be sterile for days if he sits in a typical hot tub for 45 minutes or so.
