I don't know how interesting you'll find it. I'll try and make it brief if I can.
First and foremost I don't care to be part of any group or community. I'm too old for that. It's kind of a weird thing to do.
But the final straw for me to be honest was, I run this show every Tuesday called Kinonomicon. It's me, Mark Pellegrini, and Full Custom Hotdog. Tomorrow is the 3 year mark of the stream before we take a hiatus.
Anyways, at some point last year a few CGers including Ethan and JDA entered the live chat. Mark Pellegrini was the guy at the moment that everyone in CG wanted to attack. Ethan and Jon had never shown up in Kino chats before, but when Mark became the target they showed up demanding the streamyard link and acting like clowns in the chat.
So I just ignored them and we did our stream like usual. At the time I had been somewhat cool with Ethan and Jon but I realized then I couldn't be. I can be friends with people who don't like each other, but not if they're gonna try and use me to attack the other person.
I always think of Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon when him and John Cazale are holding a bank hostage, and the cop is talking to Al trying to get him to turn in his accomplice. And Al just starts screaming "YOU THINK I'M GONNA SELL HIM OUT???"
Yeah, like I'd ever sell out Mark.
After that I just slowly backed away. I knew Creepsters 2 would suffer for it. I don't think most people even knew it ever launched. But that makes no difference because I lost money on pretty much every comic I've ever made, so what's another one?
That's another thing too. Crowdfunding is torture. I would love to do Creepsters 3 and Brutas 3. But there's nothing worse than crowdfunding. And losing money every time is discouraging.
Crowdfunding requires so much time, you have to sit down and stream 5 hours a day and "schmooze."
I've also taken this time to do other things. There's more to life than just writing. I go to concerts each weekends and do photography for bands. I even just helped record a music video last week.
There's more to life than comic books (or in the case of CG, comic books that never come out because so many people take the money and run).
you gotta build that audience. But most of the book people I see sell most of their books through ads, not really YouTube. That's something I tried last year and spent $1,000 in ads to sell $2,000 in novels.
. I guess his version of helping someone is sending his followers to derail their stream and attack their co-host.
