There are countless of elements that made me fall in love with One Piece but if there is one part that completely seals the deal as a story and an author is Chapter 438/Episode 323. His friends wanted him back, even Zoro. But as a crew, Ussop needed to apologize for his actions, which he did and Zoro was right.
I heard fans saying that "Ussop shouldn't come back, maybe he'll be on a different crew", so he could do the same thing as leaving again to a different crew who wouldn't be as forgiving. I've seen the BS with Naruto with Sasuke, and thats a different can of worms I don't want to disclose on this thread,
The Strawhats will have their silly and crazy adventures, but have sincerity in their actions. Just like Zoro said to Luffy, "Oda may be a crazy crackhead of an author, but he's still the captain of the ship (story)", and I thank God that Oda is writing the story,

I still think Oda was on an entirely different level when writing Water 7 and Enies Lobby that he never ever returned to. They're my two favorite arcs in the series and I wish there was inner crew drama on the same level as this arc but I doubt it'll ever happen again.

I'm willing to believe there's a cap to how many people she can copy though. I doubt her Devil Fruit is that perfect. Maybe 1 person per tail? On that note, does she have the ability to transform into Saturn outside of that form of his? Imagine Saturn dies but no one witnesses it and then Catarina replaces and infiltrates the Gorosei.

Watching Luffy take a hit from and then punch Saturn was cathartic. The 5 elders suddenly seem a little more mortal. Dangerous still but mortal.

Not necessarily, it's more that they are trying to enforce dictatorial control on a world with random ass super powers.
Were it not for dicks like Roger dying to specifically be able to shit in their cereal by starting a fresh age of pirates, lucky idiots like Luffy bumping into the right fruits and actual schemers like Teach minmaxing the right super power combos the government might have managed several more generations before happenstance got this to happen.

Lot of it seems to be that. But they do themselves no favors.

for instance, Saturn got touched because his robots could not kill everyone because Bonny overrode them, something she was only able to do because Vegapunk hid something in the machines which Saturn, who clearly did not trust Vegapunk, did not bother to check.

The government laid claim to what they considered to be a trustworthy source of information, one of Vegapunk's offshoots. There is no way to run analytics or reverse engineer the Pacifistas to check for anything like the Kuma clause since the Vegapunk inventions are at a unique level of technology. So instead the WG went with luring over the closest they could get to their own version of Vegapunk under the impression that, as something spawned from his mind directly, shenanigans like Vegapunk building his own backdoor in would be known to them. There is no way to check the machines for that so they went with someone who should know if they have a way to do so.

I mean the failure of the world government is basically reverting to naked force when ever resistance is shown, viewing their non-Celestial Dragon allies as replaceable, and being perfectly fine with committing atrocities that no one else in the series has the capacity to accomplish.

Beyond just nuking the one island and using Buster Calls on Ohara, they pulled a Moses on Ace and allow pirates to victimize people when they can get away with it.
I don’t think any Pirate in the series, besides those empowered by the WG, compare to their tyranny. Rocks is somehow awful, but that’s from Garp’s mouth and Garp happily stabbed pregnant mothers in the stomach.

Depends, we need more on Lili and how the "Spreading of Poneglyphs" happened. If that were preventable then yeah they lose because they are braindead, but the fact that the Poneglyphs exist will draw people to want to find out what they mean..and as soon as Gol did his speech it was fucking over. Once you let loose people's greed and the legend of a massive treasure on Laugh Tale..outside of just straight up Destroying the Island..it is just a matter of time before someone with enough strength and lifespan left to use the information gets there.
